^^I would go with Rice, especially if it's a PPR league.

how come every single defense is projected to get negative points?
8/28/2011 8:56:14 PM
Cause you lose pts for things like sacks, ints, etc...
8/28/2011 8:56:40 PM
do you have to play a defense?
8/28/2011 8:57:05 PM
That would be a dick move. You have to play one.I could tinker with some things before the season starts.]
8/28/2011 8:58:23 PM
i just think maybe the defensive scoring needs a slight tweak, if every single defense is projected to get negative points...maybe scale down the Points Allowed scoring, or cut the point losses in half for safeties or blocked kicks from -2 to -1?i know projections are only projections but still

cant wait for Marc Mariani to get those return yard points

Really wanted Ingram where I got Thomas (Round 5), but the manager before me picked him in the last few seconds. I'm thrilled with the group of receivers I have, especially getting Moore.

Should I keep Chris Johnson? It takes up my first round pick, and it's starting to make me sweat a bit.Are *you people* drafting him as normal?
8/29/2011 8:33:57 AM
i wouldn't draft him in the first few picks right now, but if you already have him i'd keep him.to fully answer though, i think we'd have to know when your first round pick would be and what players would be available for you to pick there.also, if you do keep johnson you should probably try to draft a quality running back you can start if he does miss the first game. or, in later rounds you could grab javon ringer.[Edited on August 29, 2011 at 9:23 AM. 8/29/2011 9:20:19 AM
Chris Johnson is a guy that can drop a little bit, but not too much- Kinda like Peyton... I wouldn't have picked him up way early, but if he were available after I got my running backs and WR, I would get him and someone else to play the first couple of weeksOther guys I'm not big on but I'm see going relatively high- Ryan Grant, Marques Colston, Ryan Matthews, Daniel Thomas, and Chris CooleyPeyton will be good when he gets back in the swing of things, and hopefully Johnson doesn't pull a VJax and miss most of the season (if he does, though, watch the waivers in keeper leagues and pick him up when someone gets frustrated and drops him- thats how I got Vjax in another league)
8/29/2011 11:26:01 AM
At this point you have 2 major concerns for Chris Johnson. Ending his hold-out and then coming back without getting injured after no contact since last season.
8/29/2011 11:37:29 AM
in one league i drafted 6th out of 10, and got Chris Johnson in the 2nd round, and Peyton in the 5th

Reason : Torrain is recovering from a broken hand]
8/29/2011 3:28:36 PM
^ I would keep my eye on Tate, if not go ahead and pick him up. He is a former 2nd round pick, has had a good pre-season, and with Foster having hamstring issues, playing time could be available.
8/29/2011 3:41:50 PM
that's my thoughts as well
8/29/2011 3:44:43 PM
good thing cedric benson was one of my keepers...
8/29/2011 5:31:01 PM
wonder if McCluster makes a nice jump in performance from his 1st to 2nd NFL season...he was a sleeper for a lot of people last year and disappointed (somewhat due to Jamaal Charles balling out) but has a lot of upside...wouldn't drop Torrain for him, but might add him to my watch list
8/29/2011 5:34:22 PM
Trade Austin Collie for Cedric Benson??Have McFadden, S. Greene, D. Thomas and Hardesty as RBs already, and WRs are Megatron, Mike Williams (TB), Collie, Lance Moore and Breaston. The other guy went autopilot and had NO receivers drafted, and he has made the following available to get WRs (he also has MJD, but I assume he isn't willing to part):Benson, Cedric RB CINBush, Michael RB OAKGore, Frank RB SFJackson, Brandon RB CLEMoreno, Knowshon RB DENSnelling, Jason RB ATLThink that trade is reasonable, or should I go with someone else to target? I'm worried about Week 8 since McFadden and Greene are both on Byes.
8/29/2011 5:52:33 PM
^^I like the idea of keeping an eye on mccluster- he will get reps as a receiver, and if anything happens to Charles, he will get it as RB too. Not an immediate performer for ya, but has great potential to work himself in to a much bigger role
8/29/2011 7:22:12 PM
McCluster is basically Mike Goodson... a 3Rd string rb with limited upside. I wouldnLt drop anyone of value for him.
8/29/2011 7:51:39 PM

Would you guys drop him in favor of anyone else? There are lots of #2 RBs available since the league is small. Also have to get a kicker eventually.
8/29/2011 8:47:00 PM
you'd have to name names of who you could replace him with. as of now, he's only expected to miss the bye week. if gooddell decides to add a suspension, that's another story.

Miles Austin > Santonio Holmes this year?[Edited on August 29, 2011 at 9:42 PM. Reason : jets fan so clearly biased]
8/29/2011 9:42:02 PM
^ yes in all formats. Austin plays for an offense that will be wide open and chucking the ball around the yard. The jets like to pound it out and beat you with defense and physicality. Not to mention Romo is a much better quarterback fantasy wise than Sanchez
8/29/2011 10:38:50 PM

8/30/2011 12:48:59 PM
AJ Green has Calvin Johnson level talent. I wouldn't take that trade just yet. The Panthers are going to be awful....again. Without a significant passing game, every team will just stack the box against us. Judging from what I've seen of Cam Newton, he's got a lot of room to grow in terms of consistent passing.
8/30/2011 2:22:05 PM
I'm in 2 leagues this year...neither have drafted yet. One of my leagues is a keeper...first time I've done that. From last season I am keeping: Chris Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and Hakeem Nicks. I have the 4th pick overall in the draft and am wondering if you guys think I should try for a QB there? The kept (unavailable) QBs are Vick, Rivers, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Peyton Manning. I know it's sort of hard to tell and depends on other factors, but I've never played keeper-style before and was just looking for a little direction for my 1st round pick.
8/30/2011 2:23:17 PM
Yes, I would go for a QB and then RB.[Edited on August 30, 2011 at 2:36 PM. Reason : Aaron Rodgers, PRiv, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning would be how I would rank them right now.]
8/30/2011 2:35:18 PM
The top few QBs available are: Romo, Schaub, Matt Ryan, Roethlisberger, Freeman, Eli, Flacco. And RBs are: Mendenhall, DeAngelo Williams, Forte, Ahmad Bradshaw, Jahvid Best.I'd like to get Schaub or Ryan as my QB. I'm not sold on Romo. I had Schaub in a league last year...I like him, but he seems rather inconsistent at times. [Edited on August 30, 2011 at 2:46 PM. Reason : ]
8/30/2011 2:45:39 PM
^ How many teams are in your league? Looks like 5 teams already have starting QBs, so you can eliminate I would assume close to at least half the field in terms of whether they are looking for a starting QB. Add in the fact that Chris Johnson is a holdout, I would take a long look at the best RBs available with my first pick.I would go Mendenhall if he is available. I don't forsee there being that big of a seperation between Romo, Freeman, Big Ben, or Ryan.[Edited on August 30, 2011 at 2:57 PM. Reason : .]
8/30/2011 2:55:53 PM
10 teams...and i was thinking along those lines as well. I may be able to draft the best RB available in the 1st round and still get a solid option at QB in the 2nd round.
8/30/2011 2:57:25 PM
I like Jahvid Best out those. Detroit is looking good and he was pretty good last year. Mendenhall hurt me several times last year and I just don't trust him as a solid RB.Bradshaw, if healthy, is probably the most consistent performer out of that group. Is this a PPR league? You can't trust any Carolina RBs right now until the Panthers can prove they can pass the ball.
8/30/2011 3:34:59 PM

I have the 4th pick in a 10 team standard ESPN money league. Is that too early to take Rodgers? I mean you have Foster's hamstring issue, and Chris Johnson may not even play week 1. I assume Rice will be there, but is Rice that much of a better pick than Rodgers?

Picking a QB in the first round is always a mistake in a standard format.
8/31/2011 12:17:47 AM
Lol, I was discussing that with someone right before our draft tonight. Sure enough, not even 30 seconds after saying that, Aaron Rodgers was taken with the top pick.
8/31/2011 1:08:34 AM
depends on the scoring.
