Attempting to work out plans to be the idiot heading to the beach rather than leaving. If I die I will miss you all. At least I died doing something awesome haha
8/25/2011 3:47:15 PM
^Good luck...but you are crazy
8/25/2011 3:48:08 PM
It may not happen because my partner in crime has a wife who will likely veto this idea
8/25/2011 3:52:54 PM
cant believe delta hasnt changed anything for Raleigh yet on Saturday.they actually believe they wont feel any winds.yea. righttttttttttt
8/25/2011 4:03:56 PM

i'd like to go down there and record stuff for my earth science class.
8/25/2011 4:07:47 PM
^ during Earl last year the Virginia newspaper had an article on some robot on the oceanfront that was able to use the data they collected during the storm to show why South Nags Head's erosion is so bad...something like it was an ancient river bed that emptied out to sea in that area iirc
8/25/2011 4:20:45 PM
If I didn't have a storage building to work on I'd be in Virginia Beach!
8/25/2011 4:21:07 PM
My sister lives in VA beach 5 blocks off the water. They are flying to Iceland Saturday evening assuming flights are still running then
8/25/2011 4:23:38 PM
where the weather nerds? i'm bored. provide interesting information on this storm
8/25/2011 4:27:49 PM
^ Computer models are updating. Leave us alone and get your own info. :back to nerd cave:
8/25/2011 4:32:31 PM
well that was neither interesting nor informative.
8/25/2011 4:38:08 PM
I am off on the weekends so I am just going to
8/25/2011 5:01:25 PM
who was it that kept saying this thing wasn't a threat?
8/25/2011 5:19:57 PM
Probably Greg Fishel...
8/25/2011 5:24:45 PM
NOGAPS has certainly moved west. Three computer models now have the center tracking closer to the Triangle..[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:30 PM. Reason : closer, not close]
8/25/2011 5:27:52 PM
^yea but it just keeps trending more and more west.. looks more and more like Floyd's track[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:32 PM. Reason : thanks for the map!][Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:34 PM. Reason : ]
8/25/2011 5:30:06 PM
you know one nice thing about all this? 5:30 traffic in kdh is almost nonexistent.
8/25/2011 5:35:31 PM
its amazing how close this is looking to Floyds path.
8/25/2011 5:50:08 PM
there are probably 100 hurricanes that have followed that path]
8/25/2011 5:59:50 PM
the models Fishel just showed on the 6pm header were a lot different than the ones posted above..they were more east
8/25/2011 6:06:54 PM
[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 6:14 PM. Reason : the navy shows wind radii]
8/25/2011 6:11:30 PM
^^^ there arent.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 6:12 PM. Reason : f]
8/25/2011 6:12:38 PM
^8Make it four models showing a much more western track than projected.
8/25/2011 8:25:24 PM
Wonder if I should go ahead and call off my Cape Lookout fishing/camping trip for the week after Labor Day.

Yeah...I'm taking the ferry from Davis to South Core Banks on 9/6 and staying for 3-4 nights in a tent. Mainly just worried about the Ferry Service getting all fucked up since currently it's right on the path of the NE eye wall, or maybe NC flipping out about erosion/birds/turtles and having to investigate that before they open it back up. Either way, fingers are crossed. Thing's the size of Floyd but the strength of Fran. Scary shit from someone who was knee deep in both.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 9:30 PM. Reason : herpes]
8/25/2011 9:30:08 PM
Looking more and more like I should head to Scotland Neck and stay with my grandparents to ride it out and watch my house. Would be my luck, FINALLY got it rented today after 8 months on the market and a storm would trash it this weekend.
8/25/2011 9:31:46 PM
Looking at the radar, I swear the storm is already moving to the north east. The last few frames clearly has the eye moving to the north east.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 10:20 PM. Reason : ,]
8/25/2011 10:08:48 PM
I noticed that...but it may created by the western eye wall building.Guess we'll find out in ~35 minutes
8/25/2011 10:24:56 PM
Should've seen this coming, but I just went to Target to get water and they were sold out. Of water. Except that bullshit Smart Water shit that was like $9 for 6 liters. Oh lawd. Also, I'm worried about our dilapidated beach trailer in Indian Beach WHERE WILL I GO TO DRINK IN THE SUMMER?!?
8/25/2011 10:31:43 PM
I was dead set on riding this storm out, but now I'm having doubts. My house is in Carolina Beach and is beachfront. 50yds from the ocean....we'll see how tomorrow goes
8/25/2011 10:43:38 PM
You're gonna get raped.Seriously, are you fucking stupid? Board that sonambitch up and get the hell out of there.
8/25/2011 10:45:15 PM
Can someone please show radar
8/25/2011 10:46:35 PM
http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at201109_sat.htmlReally really looks to me like it suddenly starting moving to the north east as it interacts with the system coming through NC now.
8/25/2011 10:53:10 PM
I, too, would like to see this ocean radar.

Technically not radar, but satellite imagery.
8/25/2011 11:00:38 PM
TWC said it's not shifting east yet, but just jogging like a zig-zag and it shouldn't effect anything. Pressure is dropping too.
8/25/2011 11:04:48 PM
whats the deal with the weather channel saying this is the "worst storm of our lifetime" on the east coast? is there something i'm missing here? haven't we had much worse?
8/25/2011 11:06:09 PM
60% chance of tropical storm winds in Raleigh per latest update.
8/25/2011 11:06:20 PM
Cheeze, I think they are referring primarily to the north. They are not used to hurr-kins.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 11:08 PM. Reason : ...]
8/25/2011 11:08:22 PM
Hurricane on wall street. :VThat would make some fun headlines. Hope any old buildings that get nailed by this hold up alright.
8/25/2011 11:09:15 PM
8/25/2011 11:09:23 PM
Well, I can look at the track they projected, and the storm wasnt supposed to be headed north yet, but it is. I am not going to be super surprised to wake up to see the track quite a bit east (which would be great).
8/25/2011 11:09:32 PM
Again, they said the tracks not changed. Just jogging. They said it's still going to follow the same path. New stats just in at 11.11:00pm StatsCat 3115 mph140 mph gusts942mb dropping14 mph nAccuweather said this has been a wobbly storm. She has jogged east to west and so on. Also Frank Strait said the NAM is not a good indicator of hurricanes. [Edited on August 25, 2011 at 11:16 PM. Reason : Stats][Edited on August 25, 2011 at 11:20 PM.
