Not sure what you got you so upset about he's just a spot up shooter that isnt good at anything else.
2/18/2012 3:17:12 PM
He needs better screens. They show him running around a lot, but it's all wasted effort because the screens don't actually affect his defender. He also done need to develop a pullup jumper after the pump fake and 2 dribbles.
2/18/2012 3:28:36 PM
they also show him straight chillin a lot
2/18/2012 4:03:12 PM
Well, I wouldn't run around either if my loser teammates couldn't set a fucking screen
2/18/2012 4:05:18 PM
^ that belongs in the Gottfried cred thread
2/18/2012 4:09:17 PM
I'll be glad when we can get back to starting starters instead of role players.
2/18/2012 6:03:35 PM
when exactly are you referring to? we arguably have more talented starters this season than we've had for quite some time.
2/18/2012 6:54:08 PM
yeah, but we don't have 5 of em
2/18/2012 6:57:35 PM
remember when that role player scored 31 points on FSU
2/18/2012 7:07:13 PM
^ correct me if I'm wrong, but that was also the last time he made 3 two-pointers in a game
2/18/2012 7:36:36 PM
^ this.
2/18/2012 8:17:14 PM
Hope Wood gets out of his slump soon, our offense sucks without him as a threat.
2/19/2012 8:09:17 AM
Wood is an incredible pure shooter but this cannot be stated enough
2/19/2012 11:55:40 AM
It is amazing how every one of his shots now seems rushed and over god coverage.
2/19/2012 1:27:37 PM
2/19/2012 2:36:15 PM
2/19/2012 2:47:53 PM
2/19/2012 3:16:25 PM
Yeah, what a crock of shit. Of course burro hops right on it.
2/19/2012 3:27:17 PM
the point ------------------------- >< -------------------------- you
2/19/2012 3:32:21 PM
whats the point? dude is basically a 41% career 3point shooter and a 43% overall field goal shooterdo we want Wood to take a bunch of midrange jumpers?
2/19/2012 3:33:10 PM
the point was that he's been jack shit recently and is essentially nothing more than a body on the floor. hyberbole must be lost on you
2/19/2012 3:34:56 PM
yeah, i can't believe he had a couple bad games @Duke against a Coach K gameplan, and then yesterday against one of the best defenses in the nationmakes you wonder how he is our leading scorer this season
2/19/2012 3:39:34 PM
burro's wearing his FREE TYLER HARRIS shirt
2/19/2012 3:41:21 PM
2/19/2012 3:55:10 PM
yes, he has been in a recent slump against some of the better teams in the conference, i was not aware of that
2/19/2012 3:57:06 PM
Reporter: Did you see Corchiani and Googs get kicked out?SW: Yeah. I did. I don't know if the refs knew who they were, but...Reporter: Did you hear what they said?SW: I did not. They probably said "Go State."
2/19/2012 5:03:30 PM
^hahadoes burro have aspergers or something?
2/19/2012 6:26:00 PM
^^ Did he really say that shit! That is awesome! Probably is gonna get him another bullshit flagrant though...
2/19/2012 8:30:51 PM
Yeah he really said that, in the post-game interview here http://www.wralsportsfan.com/ncsu/video/10750899/#/vid10750899around 1:25-1:30The reporters clearly found it amusing.[Edited on February 19, 2012 at 8:50 PM. Reason : ]

hahahaha +100
2/19/2012 9:02:35 PM
welp, another abysmal game for him. we love ya man, but come on!
2/21/2012 10:23:25 PM
Wood's wife done cheated on him again
2/21/2012 10:26:03 PM
after bad games against Duke and FSU, I fully expected him to go off versus a very bad UNC team!
2/21/2012 10:28:09 PM
So he can only go off on bad teams? He hasn't done shit against a good team all year.
2/22/2012 8:14:04 AM
He's a 6th man trapped in the body of a team he starts on
2/22/2012 8:17:16 AM
I would be all for Johnson getting the start in the next game - he seems to have hit a groove with his shooting now and the offense is much more active when he's in the game. Wood doesn't serve much purpose if his shots aren't falling, and honestly most of them haven't even been close lately. And at the very least Johnson will drive the lane to create something, even if he gets a little out-of-control from time to time [Edited on February 22, 2012 at 8:27 AM. 2/22/2012 8:25:34 AM
that about sums it up.
2/22/2012 8:48:51 AM
don't worry guys, he's good against bad teamsI agree though, I don't think wood should start. Pains me to say it, but he's just not a threat out there and when he was sitting last night, I don't think he was missed.
2/22/2012 8:58:43 AM
Wood is useless against talented teams. If he's just going to stand around and not find a way to contribute when he can't get an open 3, leave him on the bench.
2/22/2012 9:06:43 AM
I like how he weaved through screens and the defender said fuck these screens ran a straight line to where scott would end up and thus not letting him get a shot off. Scott was working harder than the defender. He needs to work on his conditioning and basically make his defender run the whole time we are on offense. FG% for the whole team took a dump. never seen so many missed layups.
2/22/2012 9:07:10 AM
We need one or more of the following to help Scott Wood: above average post player, another marksmen, someone who can drive to the basket and draw defenders. We kind of have the latter in Brown...but he doesn't do it enough for the defense to constantly collapse on him (or succeed often enough for defenses to give a shit). And I don't think we have a marksmen or dominant big man coming in next year's class (even if Amile joins, he's not a big time post player). So hopefully Purvis can be that guy that takes the defenses focus off of Scott Wood. Because he's never going to blow up against athletic teams with good coaches who can game plan against him (especially when they've been doing it for three years now).I still think he's a starter, he just needs a little help.
2/22/2012 9:14:08 AM
^yep. We rarely cause the defense to collapse, so Wood just has to outrun his guy, which is never going to happen. Plenty of teams have slow white guys who can't handle the ball, but they get production based off of the defense collapsing. We can also set more and different screens for him. Fact of the matter is the one baseline screen he is getting has been scouted. That's not cutting it. It's also really bad screen. If you have the best shooter in the ACC on your roster, and you aren't constantly thinking of new ways to get him open, then you are not doing your job.Find out what your guys are good at, and tailor your offense to that. Don't tailor it to getting Howell post ups or Painter 18-footers. That's just dumb.[Edited on February 22, 2012 at 9:25 AM. Reason : .]
2/22/2012 9:25:23 AM
^ Eh...I don't think more screens are the answer. I mean...I guess we could somehow switch it up a bit...but a screen is a screen. If you're a good defender, you can get around them/through them, or find out where your guy is going to be and beat/meet him there. And we set multiple screens for him all the time...but again, they are defended well. And even if his defender doesn't get there, the defense is usually told to to make sure he's not open, so someone else's man will pop out on him.If we could make it to the tourney, I bet he would light up a team on the 2nd day of games. But he's been in this league for 3 years and teams know how to play him.
2/22/2012 9:41:06 AM
Scott Wood really frustrates me. Yes he is a great shooter but he becomes a liability when he gets frustrated. He commits really stupid fouls and has no other dimensions to his game other than taking a contested three point shot. He is as 1 dimensional as it gets.[Edited on February 22, 2012 at 9:47 AM. Reason : .]
2/22/2012 9:42:34 AM
Wood needs to create his own shots...he needs to try and shoot off the dribble some and drive to the basket IMO...he's not the strongest guy in the world obviously, but an occasional drive would open things up for him some and get him in the line a la JJ Reddick
2/22/2012 9:46:23 AM
I completely agree
2/22/2012 9:48:19 AM
13 ppg (17th in the acc)92% FT% (1st in acc)42% 3P% (1st in acc)2.7 3pg (2nd in acc)worst starter nc state had had in decades!
2/22/2012 9:48:31 AM
He's never going to create his own shots. So you guys keep waiting for that. He has to pull up on fast breaks for crying out loud. What makes you think he's going to take his defender off the dribble and drive into the lane??
2/22/2012 9:52:02 AM
Don't get crazy, bruh. He's certainly the least effective starter on this team. Last three games: 7 ppg80% FT (zero attempts last night)22% 3P (1 make each game)Step up, Scott
