Yet again, a top OSU football player breaks the rules and receives zero punishment. wtg, NCAA. "I promise I'll be back, honest!"
6/7/2011 6:52:41 PM
I agree, it's horseshit that the NCAA didn't suspend those players for the Sugar Bowl. It's going to look even dumber when they make Ohio State forfeit wins from last year but NOT the bowl game since the NCAA cleared them for that one.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6637444BOOOM!Pryor got $40,000+ for signing memorabilia
6/7/2011 10:46:02 PM
That Talbott guy is a fucking idiot. "No I've never received tickets from players". "but we have proof you have". "I don't remember receiving any tickets"Looks like the hammer is going to have to drop pretty hard and a slap of LOIC on top. I really hope this doesn't fuck things up with UNC's shit.

6/8/2011 12:01:38 AM
In terms of punishments.
6/8/2011 12:08:22 AM
What you think the NCAA is gonna use up its yearly allotment of punishments on OSU?[Edited on June 8, 2011 at 12:11 AM. Reason : OH NO WE OUTTA SANCTIONS]
6/8/2011 12:09:05 AM
Oh for petes sake...if all that is true in the article the OSU scandal blows UNC's out of the water hence my fear they get a lighter punishment because it is not as bad.
6/8/2011 12:15:31 AM
Worried that a lesser offense will warrant a lesser punishment?Do you write for SFN?
6/8/2011 12:17:49 AM
I think Ohio State is off the hook until 2012 since USC just had to vacate their 06 title
6/8/2011 12:18:27 AM
Pryor got $40k, now UNC will never get the death penalty it deserves!!
6/8/2011 12:20:09 AM
6/8/2011 6:47:39 AM
USC's scandal only involved 2 athletes. OSU's case looks like it is going back years and involves multiple athletes with all sorts of area businesses giving kids free shit or special treatment. It is worse than what was uncovered at USC. Unless the NCAA has found something on UNC we don't know about yet it is small potatoes compared to OSU. What I was trying to say Ernie...if you just took a moment to comprehend instead of being such a dick...is I wonder if they will get the punishment their violations deserve or will it now be more likely they get off with a slap on the wrist. I mean we are talking about the NCAA here....where logic and consistency is a foreign concept.
6/8/2011 7:03:03 AM
all sorts of local businesses? So, 2 tattoo places (only b/c the first one shut down) and 1 car dealership is all sorts? I bet you're mad that Pryor had a VIC card too, right?
6/8/2011 7:32:57 AM
6/8/2011 7:55:54 AM
I like that he kept up with the "The Ohio State" garbage even while quitting the team and leaving the university.
6/8/2011 9:12:21 AM
^it IS the official name of the university.however, that asshole said he was going to "The University of Ohio State" at his LOI presser.[Edited on June 8, 2011 at 10:27 AM. Reason : .]
6/8/2011 10:23:36 AM
^^^ Ive been meaning to mention this but this is why UNCCHeat kicked Austin off the team, it made him unavailable to the NCAA. Sneaky sneaky

All car deals cleared by DMV: http://sports.ap.org/college-football/story?id=pb9845b5ed71c4f2d953456f7cf44ea74I'm sure ESPN will run this one.

6/21/2011 3:27:28 PM
UNC should take a page from OSU about how to cover shit up. wtg, tOSU
6/21/2011 11:52:48 PM
The only question left unanswered was how Pryor was allowed to drive around in several loaner vehicles....
6/21/2011 11:58:26 PM
and it will never be answered, because he quit and is no longer subject to the NCAA. seriously, they NCAA needs a new rule that says "if you refuse to talk, we assume guilt of the worst infractions".
6/22/2011 12:51:47 AM
OSU is vacating all wins from last season

obviously they can, but I'd like to have a 5* lineman. Granted Bollman wouldn't know what the fuck to do with him, but still....

7/14/2011 4:18:51 PM
the amount of resources ESPN has spent trying to uncover more shit at OSU is remarkable. I wonder if they did the same for USC, or were they too busy cock-chugging Pete Carroll to care?
7/14/2011 4:22:43 PM
I now have a bet going with former Hurricane D-Man Aaron Ward for the OSU-Michigan game.
7/21/2011 6:33:25 PM
not even being charged with Failure to Monitor. SUCK IT, ESPN! Talk about the shit going on at Auburn and LSU a lil bit, would ya?Lately we have:USC: Lack of institutional control.Georgia Tech: Failure to monitor....failure to cooperate with the NCAANorth Carolina: Failure to monitorTennesee: Failure to monitorOSU: None of the above. But OSU had WAAAAAY more coverage on ESPN than the SEC schools, or their cock chugging of USC. FUCK THEM.
7/22/2011 6:12:14 PM
Good newsNow there's no threat of the degree you don't hold from OSU being devalued
7/22/2011 6:15:11 PM
hey, it's ernie bringing a tired, retarded argument into this thread. WOOHOO!
7/22/2011 6:16:53 PM
great news that there are no new violations, but there are still the outstanding violations that need to be put to rest. Im hoping that the level of cooperation the adminstration has shown on top of the self-imposed sanctions will be good enough to the NCAA. I'm sure there will be a couple schollys lost, but if we can get out of this without a postseason ban I'd be happy.
7/22/2011 6:49:10 PM
if our charges are less than GT, by a long shot, then there's no reason OSU should lose anything beyond vacating the wins from 2010
7/22/2011 6:50:13 PM
well GT was still in the "window" from their last major penalty where they couldnt get in trouble again. So the fact that they had more major violations so close to their last sanctions made their situation (and subsequent sanctions) worse than pretty much everyone else under investigation. At least thats what I understand about GT.If this was GTs first offense, they almost certainly wouldnt have got the punishment they did
7/22/2011 7:01:57 PM
I could see a 1 yr postseason ban
7/22/2011 8:28:41 PM
based on what? keeping in mind the precedents set by the NCAA
7/22/2011 10:50:41 PM
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=145&f=3154&t=7694773&p=1SI, ESPN, CBSSports, etc... can all
7/22/2011 11:39:52 PM
I'm going to be pissed if UT gets slammed for lying about a fucking BBQ and shitload of secondary violations under Lane (but still WAY under what OSU does in a typical year) and OSU gets off with a slap on the wrist for all their shit
7/23/2011 1:24:54 AM
correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the penalties administered by OSU fit the violations (as the NCAA sees them, not what SI and ESPN so desperately wanted them to be).some players got improper benefits and would have been ineligible, but Tressel played them anyway and didn't do his job by a)playing them, and b)not telling compliance. As a result, all 2010 wins are vacated, Tressel is out, and Pryor is gone. Im trying to set my bias aside, but that sounds like a reasonable punishment.

the backtracking begins - http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/29504/nca a-outlook-much-rosier-for-ohio-statePretty sad how much effort ESPN and SI (among several other media sources) to try and create a bigger scandal/story than what actually took place.
