I think the Panthers will come out strong against a lazy Steelers team and pull out a miracle win to lose the Luck pick.

I've heard of Matt Millen and Joe Theismann, not sure about Bob Papa

but bear in mind, this is basically just the NFL Network fed through to our local station, not a regular CBS/FOX crew

I realize that I'm way late with this, but how in the world can you not know who Rich Eisen, Marshall Faulk, Steve Mariucci, and Deion Sanders are?

there's no way Luck stays, right?

I mean, how can you turn down that #1 pick -- it's not like he'd be going to a dumpster fire of a team. We have a respectable D, Thomas Davis will hopefully be healthy again (until practice #2 of training camp), and at least Gettis seems to be picking some things up, and Goodson might be a solid RB behind Stewart.

i guess maybe the only reason he'd stay is because of a potential lockout?

[Edited on December 24, 2010 at 9:35 AM. Reason : and is there any potential to the rumor that Harbaugh might come too?]

I wish they would bring him in, but i've read/heard he'd be way too expensive for them

it'd be an awesome out of character move though

according to Stanford football's beat writer earlier this week, its 60/40 that Luck leaves, and if Harbaugh gets offered say $4M per year, compared to his current $1.25M a year, he would certainly listen

Ok, so here is a quick rundown of what we'd like to see in Week 16 of the NFL, assuming you are a Panthers fan and want us to get the #1 pick

Saints over Falcons- Falcons are 12-2, Saints are 10-4, so the only way the Falcons could potentially lose the division is to lose the last 2 games...since the last game is against the Panthers, a New Orleans win tomorrow would force the Falcons to play more starters in the Week 17 game in order to try and secure homefield advantage, so therefore the Panthers should have a better chance of losing the final game and finishing 2-14, guaranteeing us the #1 pick.

Bengals over Chargers- As much as some of us would like to see Phily Cheese in the playoffs, a win by the Bengals, one of two teams with a 3-11 record, would really help the Panthers establish the worst record in the league and not have to worry about strength-of-schedule tiebreakers, even though it seems stupid that the Bengals beat the Panthers head-to-head, yet thats not the first tiebreaker.

Broncos over Texans- The Broncos are the other 3-win team and have a chance to lose out, and beat us in a strength-of-schedule tiebreaker if we beat Atlanta in the final game. Denver is at home, Kyle Orton has put up lots of passing yards this year, and Houston's secondary is not good. However the Texans have had some nice 4th quarter comebacks this year and like the Chargers, I would expect them to win. Still, a Broncos loss would be another good step for the Panthers to secure the #1 pick.

Bottom line: A Bengals win and a Broncos win would guarantee the Panthers the #1 pick, since they have 2 wins, and a Cincy and Denver win would give each of them 4 wins, with 1 game to go. If they both win, the Atlanta / New Orleans game doesn't matter. In fact you can cheer for the Panthers to win versus Atlanta with a clear conscience. But if either the Bengals or Broncos lose, it would be nice for the defending SB champs to beat the Falcons to give Atlanta more motivation to try to win in Week 17.

not 100% on this, but im pretty sure the bengals cant beat us on SOS for the #1 pick and we cant beat denver on SOS

so basically all we need to happen is for tim tebow to use his magical jesus powers to win a game in the next two weeks and nothing else matters

way to go denver and cincy, you know if coughlin isn't too old I'd take him on the panthers, he's a good coach and I think he's just stuck with a bunch of players who just stopped listening to him this year

I still dont think they will pick luck even if he does come out...the only way I could see that is if Harbaugh goes to the panthers as well.

i see them saving even more money and trading away the picks.
