it was an honest question. sorry i poked fun of seikos my thought was that surely some of these dudes enjoy watches for non-jewelry aspects. if i was mistaken, i apologize.[Edited on January 13, 2011 at 10:35 AM. Reason : i didn't think it was that bad of a troll, but i guess it was re-reading it.]
1/13/2011 10:33:50 AM
I do, but I don't get into it outside of purchasing and reading and learning about different movements.
1/13/2011 11:04:55 AM
^^ I don't own a Seiko so you don't have to sad face me mister I mean a better troll would have "do any of you people buy real watches or do you all just spend $300 for shit at the mall." The watchmaking part was out of left field.
1/13/2011 11:06:49 AM
haha. well it was both though!i should've left out "actually". i wasn't trying to challenge people, i just wanted to know if anyone on here messes around w/ movements, hands, faces and such.buuuut a thread full of people posting seikos also warranted a comment. i should've trolled, waited a week, then asked my real question.

1/13/2011 9:23:28 PM
I'm proud to say that it's been a year since I've bought a watch.
1/13/2011 9:51:50 PM
Impressive!
1/13/2011 10:55:54 PM
So the bracelet on my 14-year-old Seiko finally snapped last night, which accelerates my desire for a decent-quality replacement.Sucks.
1/14/2011 10:29:52 AM
Can get a good deal on this automatic from orient with stackable coupons. Decent enough for right now.
1/15/2011 9:35:37 AM
Thinking of purchasing a Bell & Ross. Thoughts? I'd really like a Panerai but that's not in the budget.
1/15/2011 9:53:52 AM
PM ^
1/15/2011 7:46:33 PM
This is the only non-dive wrist watch I've ever wanted:Of course it's going to be years before I can afford it, but one day it will be mine (15k pricetag)
1/15/2011 8:25:10 PM
I've seen that one and it's VERY cool, but much too large for me (sadly).Make it smaller and I would def. consider getting it.The Harry Winston Opus 5 is still my fav.[Edited on January 15, 2011 at 9:47 PM. Reason : What a wonderful timepiece.]

I bought my gf an Eco-Drive a few weeks ago...so yesterday I went and got this for myself because if she has one, I should have one right???
1/21/2011 10:03:08 AM
Got the watch I posted above yesterday. Really good looking watch in person and it'll hold me for a while until I decide and am able to upgrade.
1/21/2011 10:45:32 AM
The Urwerk?!
1/21/2011 12:09:01 PM
oh gosh...ahahaha, no. forgot i posted that one. the orient a little above that post.whew, no, the urwerk would be a little out of price range at the moment.
1/21/2011 12:15:30 PM
Well, That why I was confused. I was like, upgrade to what? A Jaeger Tourbillion in gold?
1/21/2011 2:18:29 PM
wore this all weekend!
1/24/2011 2:19:32 PM
^how long does the battery last if you keep it on all the time? Can you keep it on all the time? Or does it automatically sleep?
1/24/2011 2:57:42 PM
The ipod does go into sleep mode. I have it set to go to time upon wake mode. So if I need the time I just turn it on or wake it up. It depends on how often you touch or use it. Lasted most of the weekend with no issues.

I need a Citizen Eco-drive:http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-BL8097-52E-Eco-Drive-Ion-Plated-Stainless/dp/B0032FORZYWhat do you guys think? Perpetual Calendar is nice. Already have a dark watch. Think I'm leaning towards shiny now.
3/3/2011 2:15:40 PM
Almost bought that watch. I like the gun metal look.
3/3/2011 2:24:44 PM
Yeah me too but I got this one a few months ago:Feel like I need a shiny watch now.
3/3/2011 2:31:26 PM
instead of buying a bunch of cheap watches, why don't you save up your money and buy one that actually retain some value 10 years from now.
3/3/2011 2:43:55 PM
^that Victorinox's MSRP is $1000. Define "cheap". I'm not rich but Victorinox makes decent watches. I'd rather have a decent watch now and save up for a Tag or Rolex later in life.-but yes I see your point. I'm not planning on buying a lot of "cheap" $300 watches. I would like to save up for a nicer watch but I thought the Victorinox was a step in the right direction. [Edited on March 3, 2011 at 3:01 PM. Reason : s]
3/3/2011 3:00:25 PM
I think he didnt mean cheap as in cost. 1000 is not cheap but youre buying a watch with a generic movements and no history. I think that is fine and everyone like different things. Saving up for a "higher" brand is ok too. I would say never ever look at watches as an investment. The used market is actually how people break into the upper brands. Like cars, the moment you buy a watch it is used and worth far less than retail.I too like the look of that Victorinox
3/4/2011 12:13:13 AM
don't buy a citizen mang.
3/4/2011 1:15:02 AM
Currently wearing as my daily beater: Thoughts on a daily watch that's casual but can be worn in a business casual environment? I already have a nice dress watch so I'm just looking for something between formal dress and the above watch and my other day-to-day chronopgraph on a NATO strap. Im partial to chronographs and dive watches -- Victorinox XLS Classic, Hamilton King Scuba, used Formula 1? Looking to keep it around 300-400 or so?
4/13/2011 8:58:04 PM
i wear my formula 1 everyday and love it.
4/13/2011 9:05:15 PM
Needing a sports watch that can take a beating. Thinking about either a g-shock or a luminox dive watch.Any experience with either?
5/12/2011 10:30:06 PM
My parents just bought me this for graduating Grad School.
5/12/2011 11:12:07 PM
just inherited my grandfathers 1965 movado watch. Will post pics. Leather band, gold face, smoth second hand (doesn't tick) and no battery. Pretty excited about it.
5/13/2011 2:03:58 PM
as excited as you'd be if he were still alive?
5/13/2011 2:20:03 PM
^he died before i was born. My grandmother sold their house and they found it when they were packing stuff up. So I guess I'd be excited if he were still alive, hard to miss what you never had I suppose.

I doubt it has a battery... isn't it a mechanical? Does it say "Automatic" ? It may need to be wound.[Edited on May 13, 2011 at 5:44 PM. Reason : Actually it will probably say "Kingmatic" as it is a Movado...]
5/13/2011 5:43:29 PM
if it's that old, it's either automatic or manual wind.
5/13/2011 6:26:57 PM
what? of course it doesn't have a battery.
5/15/2011 11:34:35 AM
have you guys considered saving up until you can afford a cell phone? They have ones with clocks on them now.
5/15/2011 2:16:02 PM
Was helping the folks clean out the attic this morning and uncovered my dad's old 1974 Bulova Accutron Spaceview. Watch is in excellent condition for the most part. The one downer is that the battery is obviously dead. The bad news is that the watch uses a battery that they no longer make. Found a few places that can customize it to make it work with modern batteries. Seems like all told I am looking at about $150 to get it spruced up to like new shape. Sweet watch though. Very cool looking and lightweight.Looks pretty much like this but with a metal mesh band.[Edited on May 16, 2011 at 6:38 PM. Reason : had wrong pic]
5/16/2011 6:36:09 PM
That's really cool.
5/16/2011 8:52:30 PM
any ideas what type of watch this is (guy on the far right's left wrist)can't tell if its a cheap white plastic band and POS watch or if its something expensive]
5/22/2011 4:32:25 PM
Looks like a G Shock:
