4/20/2011 9:00:06 AM
what about genki at corner of kildaire and ten-ten? anyone been?my buddy that moved from florida says he can't believe there aren't more all you can eat sushi places...he says down there almost every japanese place has an allyoucaneat option and it is amazing..he says the sushi up here is outrageous in price
4/20/2011 9:00:34 AM
I think the Tasu in Brier Creek has gone downhill. We went last week and they've really started skimping on size and quality. Something is wrong when two people spend thirty bucks on sushi and leave hungry
4/20/2011 9:00:54 AM
^^ well he can go the fuck back to floridanobody here gives a fuck how it was in floridai hate that mentalityALSO THE WEATHER WAS DIFFERENT IN FLORIDAno shit, this is North Carolina]
4/20/2011 9:02:01 AM
where in florida? I mean, they are so close to the good fishing ground- that is like someone from Wilmington saying we pay too much for oysters here inlandbut I do agree with him in that it is more expensive than it needs to be, and I wouldn't mind seeing some true sushi houses (I want a damn sushi train, dammit!)
4/20/2011 9:02:08 AM
he was from the fort launderdale area but also lived near miamihe was just asking me some sushi places around here and i told him some places. he looked them up and commented that he couldn't believe how expensive it was, even with specials..
4/20/2011 9:03:52 AM
There's a sushi train in Chapel Hill but it sucks lol. There's also one in Cary called Domo Sushi.
4/20/2011 9:04:04 AM
I used to love going to the sushi train at Nakato's on 51 in Charlotte- Rick Flair was there all the time too, and when I was younger I tried to get one of whatever he was getting

The neighborhood of bedford off falls of neuse has a sushi and grill in their little neighborhood shops. They do BOGO Sunday through Thursday night. Gonna try it out soon.

5/26/2011 3:52:17 PM
bout dat time again to hit up the sushis
5/26/2011 3:52:58 PM
Went to Champa Tuesday. Was pretty good and BOGO.
5/26/2011 3:57:40 PM
^Was it better than Tasu in it's downhill state? If so, I need to check it out.
5/26/2011 3:59:21 PM
Definitely better than Tasu.
5/26/2011 4:29:51 PM
oh snap Waraji.sounds really good
5/26/2011 4:33:35 PM
Champa is great for average sushi. Minimal selection but they do it pretty well. And their BOGO extends to their traditional entrees too, which are usually awesome

I'm glad more people are able to appreciate Haru- we have been fans for years, but people are just recently (over the last year) starting to agree that it is goodand the lunch specials are awesome!
5/26/2011 6:33:46 PM
my roommate is going to Haru tonight
5/26/2011 6:41:48 PM
^^ a friend of mine leased them that space, so I went shortly after opening and have been hooked ever since.I have had others say they thought it was over-priced, but you get what you pay for in this case.
5/26/2011 6:45:52 PM
is tasu in cary open yet? website still says opening soon but i've heard rumors that it is open. can someone confirm?
6/28/2011 8:20:00 AM
Yes its open I ate there last weekend, sushi was pretty decent although I was disappointed in the bagel roll myself.
6/28/2011 8:44:49 AM
We went today at lunch to Tasu at cary. it was awesome. we got the shrimp tempura roll, north carolina sunset roll, the woman in red, and the crazy roll. high quality and service was great...ask for LeslieI also didn't realize their menu was so extensive..lunch prices were very reasonable (less than 10). I was going to get an entree as well but was stuffed after eating that sushi[Edited on June 28, 2011 at 5:01 PM. Reason : pic]

I've been going to Tokyo House in North Raleigh recently. They have a huge menu with lots of unique rolls and the quality of the fish is great. They also have Thai dishes (Tom Kha, Pad Thai, curry, etc), and other Japanese entrees (Hibachi stuff, Ramen, Negimaki, etc). They have a nice atmosphere and have a secluded tatami mat section, too.The best part is that it is wayyy cheaper than most places but doesn't give up on the quality. If you haven't been, or haven't been in a while (used to be very expensive) you should check it out.

I've never had all-you-can-eat sushi, and I almost find it hard to imagine. Because when I eat sushi, I'm basically inhaling it: it disappears so easily, and when it's gone I don't feel that much fuller than I did when I started. So if all-you-can-eat sushi were available, a half a roll would be, like, just a warm up. I can't imagine how they can turn a profit on it (unless it's really crap sushi, of course.)]
4/8/2014 5:52:09 PM
Anybody been to the all you can eat sushi/sashimi place Orchid on Creedmoor Rd?
9/12/2015 3:35:22 PM
^ it's mediocre at best, slightly better than the sushi at one of the big Chinese buffets
9/12/2015 8:47:29 PM
^ +1
9/15/2015 10:03:41 AM
Okay, triangle people, where is the good stuff at now? anybody tried Ajisai?
12/19/2016 3:31:58 PM
Kai is the best new one I've been to. Waraji is still the best sushi and they have killer sukiyaki, but for the money and quality I like Kai. They also have a unique menu that has a lot of Asian favorites on there like bulgogi.
12/19/2016 3:34:02 PM
My usual spots are Kai and Tokyo HouseIf you like Waraji but don't want to pay Waraji prices, just go to Tokyo House. Seems like most of the employees from Waraji are jumping over to Tokyo House.I like WAraji but it's too expensive for what you get. But I am going to Waraji in March for Sushi Smackdown.
12/19/2016 3:59:33 PM
Dang I thought Kai was pretty damn pricey...It gets worse?
12/19/2016 4:27:46 PM
Surprised to hear Tokyo House compared to Waraji. This is on Six Forks right? I'll have to go give it a try. I love Waraji but only do celebrations there.
12/19/2016 4:34:12 PM
Sushi 9 on franklin st in chapel hill is consistently great. Their drunken noodles and panang curry are also as delicious as their sushi.
12/19/2016 5:16:04 PM
Can some one tell me which waraji location is superior?
2/22/2017 11:44:35 AM
The only one?
