yes.they better trade down if they aren't picking gormley or fowler[Edited on June 25, 2010 at 8:13 PM. Reason : FUCK]
6/25/2010 8:11:28 PM
if only i was down the street at Rudinosthey pick that figure skating dude? lol
6/25/2010 8:13:44 PM
Skinner.
6/25/2010 8:13:49 PM
Why Skinner, when we could've gotten Fowler?
6/25/2010 8:13:53 PM
WTF
6/25/2010 8:14:37 PM
^^ JR doesn't like picking d-men in the draft. Would've loved Fowler though.[Edited on June 25, 2010 at 8:15 PM. Reason : tbdv]
6/25/2010 8:14:50 PM
wtf, Skinner?
6/25/2010 8:15:34 PM
6/25/2010 8:16:26 PM
Well, he did score a shitload of goals. But one of the defenseman would be nice.
6/25/2010 8:17:06 PM
we did need some help there
6/25/2010 8:17:37 PM
Looks like he can score though, he put up the most goals in his league. Only issue I had with Fowler was that a few months ago he looked like a sure fire top 3 pick, then he drops past 7.
6/25/2010 8:18:28 PM
How does Gormley and Fowler drop so far? Amazing how many teams have passed on those two consecutively.
6/25/2010 8:24:04 PM
Vulcan91 is pissed:
6/25/2010 8:26:10 PM
Skinner did score more goals than Hall though. But yeah this sucks, I wanted Fowler
6/25/2010 8:28:46 PM
I wonder if now having a big goal scoring winger to add to the system, if this makes guys like Bowman expendable to trade for a defenseman this summer and avoid the waiting period JR hates for defensemen.
6/25/2010 8:32:26 PM
Well, we now know that JR was not going to draft a defenseman no matter what. So the way the draft played out was the worst that it could have gone for us. All forwards have gone except for Gudbranson.
6/25/2010 8:32:50 PM
with Fowler dropping all the way to 12, I'm less pissed about picking a 70 goal scorer at 7.this is Sweden btw.
6/25/2010 8:54:22 PM
Chad LaRose also scored more goals than Taylor Hall.
6/25/2010 8:55:35 PM
this explains why all those canes fans were at Rudinos
6/25/2010 9:08:56 PM
yeah but chad was like 20-21 when he scored a shitloadskinner is only 182 years is a big difference in the ohl, don't you agree?
6/25/2010 9:22:08 PM
wow, Skinner is ranked 34th by Central Scouting. Rutherford should have at least traded back to 15th and still got him.
6/25/2010 9:23:23 PM
skinner wouldnt have lasted that farplenty of people were high on this kid
6/25/2010 9:28:24 PM
wow, habs drafted mark tinordi's soni am OLD
6/25/2010 10:39:18 PM
maybe the Canes can draft one of the US d-men tomorrow. Hopefully, Jon Merrill will still be there at 37th.
6/25/2010 10:41:34 PM
I hope to be quoting my rant above while eating crow a lot this year. But I hoped for that last year after my Philippe Paradis rant too.
6/25/2010 11:54:06 PM
funny how last year draft, Rutherford went out and got a bunch of size. This year, he went out and drafted a 5'10 guy.
6/26/2010 12:27:42 AM
i dont know, its not like we haven't seen undersized players succeed with the canes beforehope our recent luck with second round picks continues tomorrow
6/26/2010 12:33:24 AM
6/26/2010 12:45:08 AM
wowwell then
6/26/2010 1:25:10 AM
to be fair, they did those for everybodybut mr. skinner does seem to have a sense for the dramatic about him
6/26/2010 7:21:04 AM
well, JR did try to move back up to get one of Fowler/Gormley, so that's interesting.though he is sometimes frustrating, i simply love the man.
6/26/2010 12:11:12 PM
I'd almost rather see us draft one of the high 2nd round defensemen today and then sign a more lock down d-man to a 2 or 3 year deal in FA than draft someone that was another offensive type defenseman. We've drafted well in the 2nd round recently, hopefully with 3 picks this year we can do just as well.
6/26/2010 12:48:44 PM
Justin Faulk
6/26/2010 1:22:20 PM
what the faulk!? sorry... too easy.here's one scout's take on him: "Really smart player is excellent triggerman on the power play with an absolute rocket point shot. Not tall, but built like a block of granite and packs a wallop on his hits - gets good leverage. Powerful and has a mean streak - likes to put a charge into puck carriers with their head down. Quick, smart puck mover. Great balance on skates. Competes like a bastard."[Edited on June 26, 2010 at 1:27 PM. Reason : .]
6/26/2010 1:24:53 PM
traded our next pick for Oilers prospect, Riley Nash
6/26/2010 1:28:36 PM
Mark Alt. 6'3" 200lb stay-at-home D-man.
6/26/2010 2:01:22 PM
wow, Rutherford just went crazy today and select a bunch of D-men. Time to replenish the farm system.
6/26/2010 2:05:03 PM
there's the typical plymouth pick
6/26/2010 2:14:49 PM
^no doubt
6/26/2010 2:18:59 PM
RT @JeffMarek: NYR trade Bobby Sanguinetti to Carolina in exchange for picks according to @NYP_Brooksie
6/26/2010 2:23:46 PM
umm... what picks? can't they release that?
6/26/2010 2:48:06 PM
looks like a 2011 2nd round and a 2010 6th round
6/26/2010 3:06:43 PM
so he's cheap and he's most likely going to be on the team next year?sounds good[Edited on June 26, 2010 at 3:15 PM. Reason : and we are so trading pitkanen at some point this year ]
6/26/2010 3:13:54 PM
we better fucking notwhy would we do that
6/26/2010 3:20:42 PM
ice_chip Word is Canes will get center Jon Matsumoto, Flyers prospect who scored 30 goals at Adirondack last season.
6/26/2010 3:40:31 PM
WE TOOK ANOTHER STAHL!!
6/26/2010 3:53:45 PM
I wonder if he ever gets to the big club if people will spell his name Staal or Stall instead of the Stahl that he is.
6/26/2010 4:04:10 PM
never underestimate the ability of canes fans to misspell staal/stahl/stall
6/26/2010 4:09:05 PM
6/26/2010 4:10:01 PM
pitkanen has 1 more year on his contract at like 4 mil or so doesn't he?he's gonna want a lot to be resignedi mean i want him and jussi to get extended yesterday, i just dont think JR is going to pay Pitkanen. I hope i'm wrong.
