+1 on a single hole? or overall?

If overall, you don't suck.

it's a blast- and cheap! y'all are still down in charlotte, right? they have some of the best courses around there (they do the US Disc Golf Championship at Winthrop right down the road!). I'd suggest looking up some videos on Youtube for basics, particularly discraft's videos, and playing with some people who have done it before

hell, if you are every up in Raleigh and want to play, hit me up and I'll take you out (got plenty of discs you can use)

^^ yea man, first time ive been able to see the ocean from a course or thrown in the sand. its covered by twisted low growing live oaks. its a fairly short course but the oaks make you throw it low on alot of shots. i played with a guy who was really serious, after the first few holes he was talking shit about how short the course was and he ended up shooting 10 over.

for the guy who asked about detroit and for ^^, use this site to check out local courses... You can put in your location, and it will give you every course near you, and how they were rated. Only downside is that private courses can choose to not be publicly listed, but this is still the best tool I have found to seek out good courses when I'm traveling.

thats because people would rather walk south beach and stare at perfect asses in shoestrings than walk a dg course.

Tradewinds in Ft Lauderdale looks good... all the rest look ok (maybe the indian park ones, simply because there are 2 right next to each other). The real big dg spots in FL, though, are in the Tampa/Clearwater area

I played one of the Kendall Indian Hammocks Park. They butt up against each other, with 18 finishing near one another. The course was rundown, poorly marked, and tough to distinguish the first time. (But I guess Kentwood is somewhat confusing if you don't know the layout) There are several long, open grass shots without the more interesting challenges.

whenever I play a new course, I always either play with someone who knows it or bring a printed off map (if I can)... I haven't been to many courses where you can't get turned around if you've never played it - which is why I never hesitate to let someone who doesn't know the course play with us or at least get them going in the right direction and warn them of possible places on the course where you might get mixed up and throw it at the wrong basket

Started playing recently at Elon Park in South Charlotte. They have a par 3 course and a "real course" thats way too hard for me at this point with a few 800+ foot holes. Pretty neat set up overall, although word to the wise, there seems to be a collections of maybe half a dozen guys in their mid thirties who have a tendency to clog up the holes doing all sorts of trick shots and not really playing. Disc golf...golf for poor people.

elon is a good course- I like the "par 3" course they have. Next time Im in charlotte I plan on giving both courses a run

it is a great way to get out and kill a couple of hours, get a little exercise, and walk your dog (if your dog can handle that kind of activity- mine gets too scattered brained and caught up in crowds, so he is no bueno out there)

We played the hard course at Elon yesterday and its either hard as fuck or we're just not that good. They had several holes over so much shit and swampland that they're basically asking you to lose your discs. Number five is 821 feet. Definitely sticking to the Par 3 until we get much much better.

you played well today- just a couple of doodoo holes

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ching-a-Zing was awesome. I had a blast! Also glad I got some much needed experience out there, because it was by far my "worst" course of the 4 we will play for the midtown championship. Now it is on par with Buckhorn (which I will visit a couple of times this week and next).

And thanks to big Fred for not only giving me a disc, but also giving me some keen advice on the thumber, allowing me to actually throw one! I told him I couldn't do it because of my shoulder, and he said the key was to make sure you follow all the way through... I didn't think that would make one difference, but trusting his experience, I gave it a shot, and damn if he wasn't on to something! I tried it twice today, and i did it pain-free. It doesn't go nearly as far as my backhand, but it goes a good 150-200 feet, which is a shit-ton further than it was before, and it is a handy throw to have in the bag!

been playing a lot lately. personal best is +2, played with a buddy of mine who shot -4 yesterday and should have shot -6 but botched 2 easy ass putts. Still one of the best rounds I've seen...

^^^ Yeah the key to throwing a pain-free thumber is to make sure you follow through with your shot. I can get a thumber to about 250 feet but I haven't thrown one for distance in so long that I only try to use it to get out of trouble.

I am playing Midtown as well. Playing INT(MA2). Been playing courses up near me(Winston Salem) the last few weeks to get ready.

As for Zebulon, which holes give you trouble? That use to be my home course and I can shoot around 54 most of the time out there. The hole that tends to kill any momentum I have out there is hole 9 but that is if I play stupid and try to throw a driver off of the tee....

^^Where are you playing, kentwood?

^yeah, I'm going out to sharon harris today to get some work done and see what my new BH can do out there (I made some adjustments and added about 60-75 feet to my drives)

As for Zeb, it was different holes each time, but consistently hole 6 got me (the one with few allies and the creek on the left). I parked it one round, but when ob the others. All the holes are easily par-able, it was just stupid mistakes or poor putting that got me

^^ Yeah 6 is a little tricky because the basket is so close to OB. I think when I play it, I am going to throw a comet on a high turnover line and just hope that I don't turn it too much to where it rolls when it hits.

I love buckhorn. I am only worried about 3 holes out there: 3, 9, and 12.

At Cedar Hills I am only worried about hole 3 and 16.

The only thing I am worried about at Kentwood is getting my discs too chewed up especially my putters.

what courses are you playing? some courses that isn't too bad. The biggest help to your game will be to practice putting. And if you are looking for technique tips in the driving/approaching, look up discraft's instructional videos on Youtube- those are a great start for people learning out to play

and don't worry about that sidearm- I'm pretty decent, and I can't sidearm for shit (I do have discs that I know how to throw a flick flight though using a back hand)
