Have you followed the Senior Bowl and combines at all? He got exposed for what he is. A COLLEGE QUARTERBACK. Sure he can come in some plays and run the ball. But if you think he's getting anywhere near the positive evaluations as an NFL prospect, you haven't been paying attention to the news.

you're really scared things will be worse?

can someone explain why injuries arent built into contracts? seems like whatever defensive lineman we show the money to goes down in the first 3 weeks for the season

Because it's a competitive league and if someone offers you that another team will make an offer regardless of injury.

well they also offer the highest contract in the nfl to a guy who had never played a snap in the nfl so i guess theres alot of things that dont make sense

^^^ It's entirely possible, but I guess I just fear the unknown. When's the last time an NFL team entered a season with an entirely new unit starting? I can't think of one...

thats true, plus they had it even harder because they use a 3 man line

[Edited on March 5, 2010 at 9:09 AM. Reason : they ended up with the #7 defense]

i think we should try and get greg olsen from chicago, they just picked up another blocking TE (maneaumeaulala, lol)

he would basically become the #2 receiver right away

^^ He's both

He plays DE on passing downs

Regardless of Dumervil, overhauling a critical unit with Fox's job on the line is going to be tough.

^That's just Jake. Don't know how you can hate on the guy for being emotional. He wasn't playing the victim. He was brutally honest about everything, as always, and said he wouldn't have minded to come back and play behind Moore. He knows he played like shit last year.

I was ready for him to go, but he's a first class guy.

my buddy who worked for the panthers PR department was genuinely upset because of this and he just kept repeating that Jake is one of, if not the most, friendly guy on the team egowise

so i brought up why he wouldnt out of the goodness of his heart take a paycut for the sake of the team knowing he doesnt deserve 13 mil this year

no answer for that except "you expect him to give the money back?"

YES

because in the opposite situation, the team would totally hand out noncontractual bonuses to an overachieving player

not outside of the contract, they build those things into contracts like "must start xx amount of games, must play xx% of offensive snaps" etc...

then they have bonus goals they can reach and get extra money

but to just guarantee the guy 13 mil, why does he care if he plays like dogshit, he's getting paid the average salary of like 3 QBs before he proves he earned it

I am concerned about what the Panthers are doing. I hate that Richardson is the Owner representative in the CBA negotiations. Its like he is trying to send a message to the NFLPA that the owners are prepared to play hardball.

I thought Richardson wanted a Super Bowl Championship more than anything but with what they doing to the D-Line I would say they are dumping as many veteran deals as possible. I would not be surprised if Moose gets his walking papers soon.

Also Peppers says now he would have stayed had the Panthers offered him another 1.5 Million a year this past summer. Too me he is coming off as a big baby who is bitter. 2 years ago he would have been one of the highest paid defensive players in the league and he turned it down. So this once again proves that Peppers was all about the money.

What the hell is going on?

They've cut 20% of the of fucking team and haven't signed or traded for anyone! The way it looks now, the 2010 is already down the fucking drain. We went from needing 1 or 2 pieces to make a legit run, to a complete overhaul/rebuilding stage.

FUCK YOU HURNEY!

Starting to look like Richardson is going to be one of those owners to take advantage of the "no salary floor" provision this year.....Or, they could really just be trying to get younger (not ideal timing when you don't have many draft picks tho), they only have 3 players who are 30+ on the roster now.

Fully expect 5-11 or worse

Definitely value saving money vs winning games this year

As a fan I don't like it, but as a businessman, I understand it completely

grow up, peter pan.

2010 will be a work in progress, but the direction of the team is clearly in the youngin's. I like the business aspect of what we're doing. We are planning for 2011 and beyond. You think Hurney is the one making these decisions on Jake and Hoover? Nope. Big Cat is.

I would not be shocked to see Kasay cut soon.

Hey Tinkerbell,

Hurney IS the GM last time I checked and you don't know shit about who is or isn't "calling the shots" so shut the fuck up. You *assume* Big Cat is doing that and then try to pass it off as fact which in turn makes you look like a dumbass. Good job.

You should should go back to arguing that DeAngelo is, in fact, the greatest running back on earth since you played laser tag with him one time.

2010 wasn't supposed to be a work in progress. It was supposed to be picking up a couple of key pieces to put us over the top since we have such a small window left with two great backs and Smitty.

Kasay cut? You don't say, Captain Obvious

So are you happy that other teams are shakin' and bakin' and we're left to pick up the scraps?

Management made no moves last year in free agency last year (mostly because of Peppers) and it came back to bite us in the ass big time. This year, they have all the money they could ever need, and again, it looks like they will stand pat or sign some over the hill fill-in player.

we still have the 2 head monster, good secondary, ok linebackers, good o-line, decent WR's

we'll be ok but by no means are we in any shape to do any damage in the playoffs
