I definitely LOL'd but it's all at stuff I have seen before. I've always thought clip shows were lazy but pretty much every show that has been longer than 5 seasons has had them at some point...I thought both The Office and 30 Rock pretty much sucked tonight, but whatever...
1/21/2010 10:37:56 PM
yeah 30 rock wasn't that greati hate the jack / horrible accent lady relationshipi don't mind the office doing a recap - brings back memories
1/22/2010 12:14:08 AM
^ Except I've been downloading and watching all the old episodes of The Office during the off season. So I was pretty fucking disappointed with this episode, as I had seen it all within the last week in the context of the actual episode it was presented in.
1/22/2010 4:32:36 AM
I forgot yesterday was Thursday. So, just a clip show eh? I thought they'd have something, anything after that extended break. Guess they're pretty much done.
1/22/2010 7:13:40 AM
The first time I saw the scene where Angela throws the cat through the ceiling I laughed about it for 3 days. It was funny this time too. Still.... lazy episode.[Edited on January 22, 2010 at 8:15 AM. Reason : ]
1/22/2010 8:15:06 AM
there were some better Creed moments, but glad they put the one w/ him growing beans in his desk
1/22/2010 9:49:16 AM
Might be lazy but most comedy shows that have run this long have done a clip show...doesn't mean the show "is done".. well maybe not most but a lot Seinfeld, Friends.. etc.[Edited on January 22, 2010 at 9:58 AM. Reason : .]
1/22/2010 9:56:21 AM
Haha, obviously the show isn't done and part of that is because NBC is in the shitter. They'd probably pay a king's ransom to keep this show on the air. It's still one of, if not, the only show NBC sitcom that can compete in the most important demographic (18-49) and NBC needs SOMETHING that it can point to at this point. It will go at least 7 seasons and probably 8.Clip shows, by definition, suck if you have watched most of a show's episodes. The Seinfeld ones always pissed me off and that was my favorite show ever.[Edited on January 22, 2010 at 9:59 AM. Reason : x]
1/22/2010 9:59:29 AM
king's ransom ya'll
1/22/2010 10:48:11 AM
18-49? That's a pretty huge spread demographic. I would think at least 18-24 would be looked at differently than 25-50.
1/22/2010 11:13:48 AM
^ Fine, more like 2-3 weeks. It was a bit of an exaggeration. My point still stands that most of the episodes that the clips were pulled from were still fresh in my mind.
1/22/2010 11:54:08 AM
but not the mind of the average television viewersome of those clips made me laugh hard even though i had seen them before...especially the cat toss
1/22/2010 11:56:44 AM
^^^ I don't make the demographics. My guess is they have three segments. Kids, adults, old people. 18-49 is "adults."
1/22/2010 11:58:35 AM
my gf and I watched all the episodes of how I met your motherit took 3 months off and on
1/22/2010 12:01:57 PM
^^^ I was never trying to speak for the mind of the average television viewer, only for me... I found the clips funny, but I find these shows to be extremely lazy.[Edited on January 22, 2010 at 12:02 PM. Reason : ...]
1/22/2010 12:02:12 PM
Just when I thought NBC had reached the pinnacle of lameness, they give me an office clip show.I agree that they're lazy. It's especially disappointing given that reruns of the office air on several networks, so several of those clips were fresh for me, an average TV viewer.
1/22/2010 5:32:01 PM
How was the episode last night? I didn't get a chance to watch it.
1/29/2010 11:20:19 AM
it was a repeat
1/29/2010 11:23:50 AM
yea i watched last weeks new episode on DVR, when i realized it was just a damn recap show i stopped itman i hate that
1/29/2010 11:26:09 AM
I used to love sitting down on a Thursday night and watching Office/Earl/Scrubs. I hope that they keep the Office going for at least another 2 or 3 seasons. I thought the Dunder Mifflin shake up would've provided for some new material, but apparently a clip show was in order..................Either way, after them dumping Scrubs to ABC and then just straight up ruining the end of Earl, they owe it to fans not to screw up the Office.
1/31/2010 3:06:06 PM
Oh snapper dee doop doodle doooooo,I feel some Office coming tonight, how about you?
2/4/2010 3:01:05 PM
A new ep tonight after like 2 months offThey better come out swinging
2/4/2010 3:09:33 PM
^^ That is one of the top two or three gayest things I've seen on TWW.^ this is the first new episode I'll have seen when I actually know what's going on considering I just finished catching up through the seasons around Christmas.[Edited on February 4, 2010 at 3:11 PM. Reason : x]
2/4/2010 3:10:26 PM
Kathy Bates? Christian Slater? Shows use guest stars when they're first establishing themselves...and when they're on their last legs.
2/4/2010 11:22:31 PM
the whole David Wallace thing seems very similar to Jan when she was fired - had a breakdown & then tried selling candles or whatever. This episode sucked. I guess I smiled at the Sab-re joke.
2/5/2010 1:32:24 AM
hahahhaha Christian Slater wtf.
2/5/2010 1:42:55 AM
^^ yea except this time it didn't seem to fit his character imo
2/5/2010 7:55:31 AM
I worked for a company in which part of it dealt with executives who lost their job. Trust me, his reaction isn't that far out of the ordinary. Everyone reacts differently, but even some of the most charismatic business leaders can be completely beaten down when they are let go. I didn't see it as totally unrealistic. Though the "suck-it" thing was forced and retarded.I actually kind of liked the episode. I thought the daycare thing was hilariously awkward and the opening was great with the "scissor me" and the boring and annoying new receptionist yelling she had a big box.Christian Slater didn't really bother me. His level of washed-upedness (new word) pretty much fit that horrible video.** also, there is a huge distinction between Jan and David Wallace. Jan had a complete mental breakdown while Wallace is simply in the depressed phase before accepting that he lost his job and needs to get going on finding a new one. Totally different. Honestly, this little story with the buyout is easy for me to understand after observing similar real-life situations.[Edited on February 5, 2010 at 8:15 AM. Reason : x]
2/5/2010 8:13:49 AM
not many laughs last night. This show, what happened?
2/5/2010 9:47:50 AM
What else has the guy taking a shit at the daycare been in?I couldn't figure it out and it was killing meI wanna say like some fast food commercial[Edited on February 5, 2010 at 9:59 AM. Reason : HE WAS THE BITTER BEER FACE GUY!!!]
2/5/2010 9:49:43 AM
Steve Wozniak from Pirates of Silicon Valley
2/5/2010 10:05:43 AM
hes been in lots of stuff. wasn't he even in sideways?
2/5/2010 10:14:22 AM
2/5/2010 3:06:15 PM
Yeah, they really went out of their way to get big stars like Christian Slater and Kathy Bates. Must be desperate for ratings.Next thing you know they're going to bring in the combined star power of Bill Pullman and Delta Burke.Or maybe they'll get super desparate and have to call on known-ratings-draws Dean Cain and Florence Henderson.
2/5/2010 3:15:40 PM
I thought the "suck it" thing was by far the worst part of the show
2/5/2010 3:15:48 PM
Kathy Bates has actually signed on for an arc, not sure how many episodes though.
2/5/2010 3:16:47 PM
^^ haha yeah that was awful. It wasn't funny at all.My only issue right now with the show is that I honestly HATE the new receptionist. She is incredibly boring and like a third of each show is her and Andy being fucking retarded about each other. They don't joke around really at all either. It's just forced stupidity.Overall, though, Season 6 is better than Season 5 as far as laughs IMO.** Also, the Office's ratings aren't down at all from past seasons. In fact, compared to the other Thursday night shows (even 30 Rock) they are much, much higher... In fact, most weeks it's nearly double that of any other 8:00-10:00 NBC show.[Edited on February 5, 2010 at 3:22 PM. Reason : x]
2/5/2010 3:20:03 PM
In fact, the only thing better than having Christian Slater playing a washed up actor who appears in corporate communications would be to pull an NC State and get a guy who looks like Christian Slater to do it.
2/5/2010 3:21:26 PM
The 'Suck It' song was hilarious
2/5/2010 3:21:33 PM
bullshitIt was a cheap joke, and a poorly executed one at thatThey could have salvaged it by Wallace mentioning the name to his wife and her misinterpreting in and getting offended
2/5/2010 3:24:19 PM
the overall 'suck it' bit wasn't that great, simply because it wasn't believable from Wallace, but the song was hilarious
2/5/2010 4:58:43 PM
= ???
2/5/2010 5:01:33 PM
I tend to agree with Alan Sepinwall on most things. This is one
2/5/2010 5:32:48 PM
i liked the miley song revised to sabre. i thought that was hilarious.but yes. office is going downhill and i would agree its better than last season though.
2/6/2010 9:29:09 PM
did they do something to make the redhead have bigger tits?
2/6/2010 10:49:22 PM
i enjoyed the suck-it jingle, but i agree that it didn't feel right coming from david.michael's reaction to the you tube ban got me to laugh, but everything else was a dud
2/8/2010 3:33:43 PM
how was it?
2/12/2010 12:58:09 AM
eh...i really wish andy and erin would just get it on already so the writers could stop making their awkward courting a plot point
2/12/2010 1:22:25 AM
best episode in a while. Overall, very solid, and a lot of good intra-office action
2/12/2010 1:29:44 AM
^^ Agreed. It's beginning to not be funny.^ Also agreed. I got some good laughs out of it.I liked how Erin is shown to basically be Michael's slave, and the fact that even Michael has outsmarted her.
