my final thoughts for the night:

Duke won the national title. This was a Duke team, not an individual star or the coach. This team was nowhere near Duke's best team ever, and not the best team in the tournament. They stumbled a few times during the year, but never fell. The held each other up till they were the last team standing.

Duke played great during the tourney. Tons of clutch shots, veteran leadership, stars played like stars, etc. They deserved to win the title, but this team is not that great when compared to some of the recent national championship teams. I think either UF team, the Kansas team, and either UNC team would beat this Duke team.

It'll be interesting to see if Scheyer, Smith, and Singler can all make the NBA to keep that "at least 3 future NBA players" on the NCAA champion team trend alive.

This gives them a chance to repeat....Irving may fill Sheyer's shoes pretty well by the end of the year, he's supposed to be a beast (along with Curry of course)... and the Plumlee's shouldn't have too much trouble filling Thomas/Zoubek's roles.

They won't be quite as good, but definitely a contender. It'll depend on how the rest of the league looks.

this is awesome. w/ Kyrie running the show i dont think Duke will miss a beat w/ the seniors leaving. curry and hairston will get much needed playing time as well. Hope they beat carolina twice more next season

I see Irving running the point with Smith at the 2-guard. Singler at the 3 with Plumlees/etc at the 4/5. Curry will be the first off the bench to spell the guards.

In Irving, they have someone who can create by himself. They honestly haven't had that in a while. Smith/Nelson/Henderson are/were decent at it...but they haven't had someone who can do it that well since Jason Williams. They'll miss Scheyer's shooting, but Curry can replace most of that. They'll miss his veteran savvy (being able to draw fouls, experience in late game situations, etc), but they still have Singler and Smith for that.

I think this Duke team could definitely be better than last year's. They'll definitely be more talented, but don't know if losing Scheyer will hurt the "team" aspect.

Nolan can dictate tempo & has steady hands but isnt' a true point guard like Kyrie. He did a good job but Scheyer very rarely turned it over. Coach K has alot of talent to work with and it'll be interesting to see how curry will fit into the mix.
