^cool, that sounds pretty tasty. I've liked most of the beers I've had that are brewed with honey, but I'm not sure if the yeast ferments out all of the sugars from it so I don't know how much it actually affects the flavor.
12/18/2009 2:59:19 PM
just tried a Stoudt's Triple.pretty good. not the best tripel i've had, but tasty nonetheless.
12/20/2009 10:47:59 PM
Just got back from the candy store:
1/16/2010 6:10:00 PM

1/27/2010 8:19:53 PM
Posted this one before, but I let a few age for a few months. Maybe my brain is tricking me, but they seem to be even better than before.
1/28/2010 4:46:49 AM
Drinking this tonight w/ my perogies, stuffed cabbage and smoked kielbasa (no fresh at the deli )In other news, I got my dad looking through his distributors to see if he can get me a case of HopSlam.
1/28/2010 6:36:10 PM
this thread make me want to be back in Asheville.
1/28/2010 7:37:25 PM

2/1/2010 3:48:03 PM

2/1/2010 3:55:21 PM
oh yeah, now i remember. has anyone seen the film Beer Wars?http://www.beerwarsmovie.com It was released middle of last year to a select number of screens and festivals but starting today it's out on amazon, itunes, ps3 and xbox networks to download and watch. There are also a few torrents out there for it. It's about 80-90 minutes long and discusses the Big 3 takeover of beer in the USA during the early part of the 20th century and the rise of demand and supply for craft beers and more exotic beers and how the Big 3 have tried to combat that.I watched the first 20 minutes of it last night and it was pretty interesting. Plan on watching in its entirety today.
2/1/2010 4:03:18 PM
Not as good as Super Troopers or Club Dredd, imo, but still not bad
2/1/2010 4:05:17 PM
^lol wut?

That Coffee/Oatmeal by Terrapin was delicious. Probably the best Porter/Stout I've had this year until I got this a couple weeks ago:Tasted like cold hot chocolate. 11% ABV!! I went through about 2/3 a growler while at work the other night and was pretty drunk by the time I was done (a few shots helped as well).
2/4/2010 12:26:20 PM
no big commander at charlotte saucer yet. not too much of a wow factor from Founders brewery night either. Looks like another trip to Total Wine tomorrow to stock up
2/4/2010 2:37:53 PM
i need to restock as well. i've been on all bulk beer for a while. time to step my game back up.
2/4/2010 2:38:42 PM
^^^That stuff is awesome, actually I really like just about all the Southern Tier beers. They came out with a blend of Choklat and their coffee stout Jahva awhile back that I really wanted to try but never did:
2/4/2010 4:26:22 PM
Where are all you purchasing Southern Tier?
2/4/2010 5:00:41 PM
^it's not distributed in NC at this time...pretty sure it's available in both SC and VA though. I always stock up whenever I'm out of state. I picked up a six pack of this the other day, hopefully it's good:
2/5/2010 2:52:15 PM
What's "Big Operator" like - any comps?
2/5/2010 2:54:26 PM
^It's similar to an Imperial Stout, but less roasty and more fruity (it's brewed with raspberries I believe)
2/5/2010 3:09:21 PM
yeah restricted said it was on the fruity side, but very good.
2/5/2010 3:11:24 PM
just made a hoppy bevmo run to compliment the exponential hoppiness that's on its way over for the gamepicked up a new avery double ipa (dugana -- will see how it compares to the raj), a port hop-15, a green flash imperial ipa, and a sixer of ruinationalso have a dorado and maharaja chillin' in the beer fridgebring on the hops!
2/7/2010 5:35:13 PM
HOPPYUM!!!
2/7/2010 8:49:12 PM
drinking one of these tonight with dinner
2/7/2010 8:59:19 PM
1. I drank a significant amount of shitty domestic light beer this weekend for the first time in ~six monthsMy palate has become far too refined for this junk2. Suggest unto me your favorite witbiers
2/14/2010 10:00:56 PM
im a BIG FAN of dog fish head. i just found a place that has about 10 of their beers, not just their 60/90/120 minute IPAs. this place that just opened up has 500 beers.....whooo yea its good stuff
2/14/2010 10:47:44 PM
I'm drinking a Flying Dog Raging Bitch right now:It's quite good, definitely one of the best Belgian IPAs I've had and a great value at $8.99 a sixer (it's 8.3% ABV)
2/28/2010 10:57:10 PM
Very Surprised!
3/1/2010 2:20:56 PM
^Those are both very good, though the Happy Ending is really more of a Black IPA than it is an Imperial Stout.
3/1/2010 2:26:05 PM
i tried a Kind Beers IPA tonight for the first time. 7.3% ABV and verrrrrry tasty. would recommend. (although a little pricey)
3/5/2010 9:45:56 PM
3/15/2010 8:20:51 PM
anyone ever had the Founders KSB?Just got word that there is some in town, but its selling for $20 a four-pack
3/17/2010 10:00:24 AM
^^how was Red & White? there's a small beer store near me that has it and i'm interested in picking it up, but it's about $9/bottle.
3/17/2010 10:03:16 AM
3/17/2010 1:28:58 PM
Picked up KBS today!!!!!1
3/17/2010 3:24:29 PM
hey I axed you a question
3/17/2010 3:26:18 PM
I, too, picked up some KBS. shit is expensive for a 12oz bottle. But it's ranked #5 on beeradvocate's top beers list.
3/17/2010 3:30:30 PM
^^Did not see sorry I enjoyed it, almost a hybrid. I started drinking it right out of the fridge and it you tasted more of the wheat characteristics. As it warmed, the red wine flavors really started to kick in. Its rather strong, but I enjoyed...the whole thing [Edited on March 17, 2010 at 3:35 PM. Reason : ...]
3/17/2010 3:34:59 PM
mmm...Coffee, chocolate, BOURBON. The head was dark brown like the filling of a Reece's peanut butter cup. Really smooth, not as thick as I was expecting...slight alcohol burn.
3/17/2010 4:31:55 PM
mmm
