^why couldn't you take advantage of it before the Blackberry?
10/24/2010 8:37:21 PM
Well more take advantage of the ringing multiple phones option. I only have one phone now. With the blackberry I'll have two and I can have my gvoice number ring either phone depending on what time of day it is. Or something like that. Although it might be a pain having to carry two phones around. Might try to consolidate into one.

Full integration with Sprint ... coming soon.If I'm reading that correctly, they would like to, or are planning to, integrate with other carriers soon.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp8Wvknh_QQhttp://googlevoiceblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/sprint-integrates-google-voice.html

When I'm in an area with poor signal and someone calls my GV number there is a noticable VoIP delay. So I'll usually call back or have them call my direct cell number. I don't exactly know how I feel about the Sprintegration for anything other than google voicemail at this point.

3/22/2011 11:48:51 AM
I don't know the exact path your phone calls take with respect to PSTN, but I'm sure VoIP is a primary factor in the equation. It may just be coincidental that when I'm without signal there's noticeable latency.
3/22/2011 12:20:21 PM
Good point. I don't know how that works. I just assumed when someone calls your GV number it just forwards it to your regular phone number, hence using your minutes and not data. Alternately when I use an actual VOIP app like Skype the quality is poor and there's latency issues when data reception is poor.
3/22/2011 12:42:34 PM
Is there a way to disable Voice from transcribing voicemails into SMS messages? I already get them to my GMail account, I really don't need text messages as well.
3/26/2011 6:24:32 AM
It's in the settings.
3/26/2011 7:44:27 AM
yeah gv has noticeable delays for me as well...my friends have started to think i'm retarded i think. it's like that 1 second pause that makes things awkward if any of you saw SNL recently...so i try to time my response at the end of whatever they're saying so it starts instantly for them hahai am wary of sprintegration for my own selfish reasons i guess - i have gvoice on my fave 3 so all my calls are free right now. if i sprintegrate, i doubt that will be the case any longer - they wouldn't be that stupid.
3/26/2011 10:31:51 AM
I'd be willing to bet that Sprint will take the Voicemail/Caller management features of GVoice and not the actual VOIP aspect. I guess I could be wrong.
3/26/2011 1:30:44 PM
^^^where? maybe i'm a big dummy but I can't find it anywhere
3/26/2011 2:42:58 PM
nm i found it
3/26/2011 3:12:51 PM
GV has been on my fav3 for a while, but it just wasn't worth it to me. For one you could never be roaming or it wouldn't count and you have to give up caller ID if you want free incoming. At least that's how it was on my TP2 using Magicall.I will like being able to send and receive SMS online with my sprint number though.
3/26/2011 5:05:27 PM
WHEN IS SPRINTEGRATION COMING?!
4/4/2011 7:51:51 AM
Has anyone's google voice been way too slow with notifications? I kept email notificatins on, and get those instantly, but the app doesn't notify me for hours after the fact
4/4/2011 12:48:20 PM
mine's actually the fucking opposite (android) - i've turned off inbox sync in the settings and gone to SMS notifications because i like the interface i have on GoSMS Pro but the app refuses to stop notifying me. it pops up notifications in GVoice at the same time the SMS comes in. It's damn annoying. I know I can turn off the notification but that doesn't mean it isn't wasting my battery by keeping the inbox in sync...
4/4/2011 2:12:47 PM
Does Voice sometimes not even forward to yalls phones? I dunno if its a GVoice setting (I have it set to forward calls to my 1. cellphone and 2. Google Chat) or an Android setting (I have Voice unchecked in Advanced Task Killer...although I think the forwarding should be independent of that)When I just tried to call my GV number a couple times from a landline, not once did it ring my cellphone. It did give me a transcription of a voicemail I left on Google Chat, but no incoming calls.Any ideas?
4/19/2011 12:03:13 PM
why are you using a task killer? But as you said, the actual forwarding part of google voice is independent of the app. You don't even need the app installed for that.]
4/19/2011 12:08:47 PM
i thought it would help save battery life by killing background tasks when my phone isnt in use
4/19/2011 12:14:57 PM
if ( $androidVersion > 2.1 ) { uninstallTaskKiller();}
4/19/2011 12:49:52 PM
Will try uninstalling
4/19/2011 12:55:13 PM
I doubt that'll fix it but it's probably a good idea to get rid of it anyway. A lot of those apps that it's killing will just restart themselves back up anyways, so killing them over and over will have more of an impact on battery life than just leaving them running and letting Android manage the memory itself.
4/19/2011 1:08:35 PM
yeah i ended up getting a couple Voice calls to forward to my phone before uninstalling the Task Killer, it just still seems kinda flukyI'm hesitant to have my GV number as any type of primary contact #
4/19/2011 1:23:23 PM
Did any sprint customers get invited to the google integration beta?
4/19/2011 1:26:22 PM
Not me.
4/19/2011 1:39:19 PM
nope not me
4/19/2011 2:11:42 PM
I can't remember if cdubya was Google turned Facebook or FB turned Google.I just emailed eCare to see if there's any strings they can pull.[Edited on April 19, 2011 at 2:22 PM. Reason : ][Edited on April 19, 2011 at 2:23 PM. Reason : For clarification: I have not been invited yet either, just giving it a try.]Do we know yet if keeping Sprint number and taking advantage of google features will force us to use their SIP trunking methods? As I said before, I do not like when people dial my GV number because of the annoying delay.[Edited on April 19, 2011 at 2:24 PM. Reason : .]
4/19/2011 2:21:55 PM
I've never been able to get google voice to supersede my Verizon voicemail.
4/19/2011 9:03:11 PM
^if you go to your settings at voice.google.com i think there is a button right beside your cellphone's name where you can activate or deactivate google voice voicemail
4/19/2011 9:04:41 PM
^ I know that. It's never fucking worked.
4/19/2011 9:12:35 PM
oh ok ive never tried it
4/19/2011 9:16:31 PM
4/19/2011 9:28:43 PM
^ Did that. Never worked.
4/19/2011 9:32:28 PM
user error
4/19/2011 9:43:48 PM
I fully accept that likely reason. Nevertheless, I can't make it work and I have followed the directions.
4/19/2011 9:48:20 PM
If you are not able to have it forward to ANY number, not just your GV number - contact your carrier, they will be able to assist
4/19/2011 9:53:56 PM
uhohh in my gvoice where it lists my phone number, now it shows the sprint logoi'm getting excited about sprintegration!
4/20/2011 11:29:14 AM
^Yeah I've noticed that for a while now. I don't think it necessarily means we're super close...I want in on the fucking beta already!
4/21/2011 7:07:48 AM

Game. Changer.I just hope I can keep both my Sprint AND Gvoice number.
4/21/2011 12:50:26 PM
Brilliant, although with Google partnered with T-mobile in the past, I'm a little suprised this didn't come out for T-mobile/AT&T first. But hoping VZW will eventually do this as well... but probably not.
4/21/2011 1:10:18 PM

4/21/2011 6:42:38 PM
Will MMS work with the Sprint integration?
4/21/2011 10:21:22 PM
doubt it.
4/21/2011 10:23:13 PM
^^Looks like it! Hmm, sounds like the pictures won't show up in native Gvoice, but they pass directly to your phone instead.http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-google-voice-early-invites-still-going-out-and-yours-truly
