^ shit, "one of the most respected coaches"?the only people that respect that queer are the rival coaches that made him their bitch and other queers like ncstatetke that love to snuggle up with him at night

i honestly and truly do not get all of the respect for herb as a coach. this is not me being bitter, but just looking at his record.he's never done anything. he's never won a major conference tournament or regular season and he's gotten to the sweet sixteen once. why do people think so highly of him?i'm willing to learn here guys, someone explain it to me.[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 3:06 PM. Reason : note: being a better coach than sidney lowe does not necessarily make you a good coach.]
3/1/2010 3:05:55 PM
I honestly think that analysts and especially coaches around the country think NC State is a hard place to win with UNC and Duke right there and an even harder place to satisfy the fanbase. And, also, "respected" doesn't mean he is an elite level coach.** And he IS doing a good job for a school that has little to no basketball history. I think this was like the first time in 50 years they had back-to-win 20 win seasons... which isn't even a big accomplishment for most schools but shows you just how bad they have been.[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 3:09 PM. back-to-back-to-backfirst time since '61-'63
3/1/2010 3:20:13 PM
What's the next step for him after he makes a program slightly above average? That is the last line of defense for Herb bashers.
3/1/2010 3:27:12 PM
he'll take them to his ceiling, get run out of town, then move on to UMass or Penn State and give them some hope for a few years

are you saying he would have?cause the thing is, nobody will ever knowknow why? cause sendek bailed on us like a little bitch]

In-leaning bubble team in my amateur opinion... pretty much the Herb special. Incidentally similar to what I predict for next year, too...^ Wright was the following season.[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 4:42 PM. Reason : x]
3/1/2010 4:42:35 PM
all i'm saying is that if Sid could lead those guys (minus Werner and Davis) to the NIT, then Herb could have easily led them to the NCAAs...but I keep forgetting that simply making the tourney isn't good enough for anybody
3/1/2010 4:44:00 PM
^^ah ok. I think Sendek would have struggled mightily to make the tournament, assuming Atsur was out most of the year with the hammy...Gavin and Courtney running the point was a disaster regardless of who was coaching.[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 4:46 PM. Reason : .]
3/1/2010 4:45:31 PM
Herb would've led that team to a bunch of 10 point first halves like Herb likes to dowhen we had Herb, he was averagenow that he's gone, he could easily take any team to the NCAA tourney[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 4:48 PM. Reason : .]
3/1/2010 4:48:14 PM
3/1/2010 4:49:18 PM
I liked when we'd be down 1 point with the ball with like 25 seconds left, and Atsur would dribble for 23 seconds then airball a 30 footerman he was probably one of the best point guards in college bball history
3/1/2010 4:51:09 PM
you're making my happy thread all sad and shit
3/1/2010 4:52:18 PM
like i saidwhen sendek, atsur, etc were here, they were averagea few years removed though, they're john wooden and pete maravich
3/1/2010 4:53:36 PM
back on topic:Herb loves bringing in sons of NBA'ersGerald Wilkins' son at StateNate McMillan's son, Hersey Hawkins' son and Jimmy Jackson's son at ASU
3/1/2010 4:57:30 PM
3/1/2010 6:08:47 PM
we've moved on from that discussion....
3/1/2010 6:14:05 PM
so what NIT seed do you think ASU will get? I bet a 3 seed
3/1/2010 6:22:57 PM
I think they'll go into the NIT with a 23-11 record, so I could see them landing a #2 seedmatched up with a certain team from South Bend, IN
3/1/2010 6:32:42 PM
I love how people continue to hate on Herb's "boring" offense when his last five teams averaged more PPG than any of Sid's four teams. He did adjust his offense and that was when Larry Hunter came on board and we made 5 NCAATs in a row and saved his job.
3/1/2010 7:44:10 PM
and Herb made it publicly known that after this year's debacle at USC, that he was going to ditch the playcalling and just let his players playafter that game, with the new found freedom, Herb's Sun Devils went on to win 10 of their next 13 conference games and catapulted from dead last in the PAC10 to a tie for firstmaybe that's the "ability to adjust" that the author was referring to
3/1/2010 7:59:31 PM
lol he realized that a bunch of 18-22 year olds know more about basketball than his sorry ass
3/1/2010 9:14:47 PM
17-23 year olds
3/1/2010 9:17:45 PM
winning 10/13 pac-10 games... i'd be impressed if the PAC-10 were any good
3/1/2010 9:25:38 PM
the NBA is happy that the PAC10 is down this year!21 draft picks over the last two years (14 of whom were underclassmen) compared to the ACC's 12 picks[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 9:40 PM. Reason : 14 underclassmen actually]
3/1/2010 9:36:19 PM
all those draft picks would mean more if they could amount to good teams
3/1/2010 9:44:29 PM
just my little way of trying to justify why the league is way down this yearaverage of 2.1 players per team lost to the draft over the last 2 seasons
3/1/2010 9:46:18 PM
The ACC has put a ton of players in the NFL over the past 10 years, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a shitty football conference.
3/1/2010 9:53:12 PM
NC State had 3 players drafted...no 3 defensive players...no 3 defensive lineman...all in the 1st roundyet half the teams in the SEC would have waxed the shit out of that team and sacked Marcus Stone 7 times per game
3/1/2010 9:57:17 PM
this thread is supposed to be where we bash Herb, not where we bash DeMarkus "Velour Jumpsuits" Stone
3/1/2010 10:01:06 PM
3/1/2010 10:02:11 PM
Marcus Stone felt negativity from fans and realized "you know what? I'm not performing to expectations"...he was benched at QB, but because he loved fighting for the Wolfpack so much, he was willing to switch to tight end, without any complaints, because it was his best effort to help the team.Conversely, Herb Sendek felt negativity from fans and realized "you know what? I'm a big pussy who can't handle being the head BBall coach in a competitive conference, I think I'll be a quitter and quit without any care of the state of the program"...he left, because he went to Carnegie Mellon and doesn't give a flying fuck about the Wolfpack, because he is Herb Sendek.^too-shay[Edited on March 1, 2010 at 10:05 PM. he certainly made the right move! ASU baseball is #2 in the nation, 2 points out of 1stbasketball will always be 3rd fiddle at ASU, if not 4th behind either golf or track & field
3/1/2010 10:27:55 PM
I love Glasser! good read herehttp://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/george_dohrmann/03/03/asu.glasser/
3/3/2010 3:24:19 PM
tonightUSC8:30pmFSNas you may remember, USC won the first meeting. that's the game where ASU scored a whopping 37 points and after which, Herb decided to scrap the offense and just let the players playthis is a must win for ASU's bubble
3/4/2010 10:10:22 AM
much needed, hard fought win. clinched at least 2nd in the conference. i'll just leave it at that.21-9 (11-6)RPI 53
3/4/2010 11:02:53 PM
UCLA4pmCBSfinal home game for Glasser, Boateng and Shippperhaps just as important, Cal @ Stanford. if Cal loses and ASU wins, Herb finally gets to hang a banner
3/6/2010 10:08:43 AM
^come on now, we both know Herb will never hang a banner
3/6/2010 12:06:03 PM
Beat UCLA. now 22-9 (12-6)Boateng -- 16 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists, 0 turnoversGlasser finishes the season with a few school all-time records -- Games played, career assists, career FT%, first in school history with 1000 points and 500 assists. Not too bad for a kid who had no D-1 offers and who was "just brought in to get James Harden"
3/6/2010 6:46:57 PM
I find it crazy that a team with a 12-6 record in a major conference can't make it into the NCAA tourney. Has it ever happened that a major conference has only sent one team since the field expanded to 64??
