If you're down with Eastern NC I would recommend this book. It really gave me more of an idea of what my parents' lives were really like when they were growing up than I ever had before. An interesting read for sure.

I didn't know what the fuck a Johnston County was until I moved to Wake County.

and you definitely don't have to head south out of Wake County to get to the coast--that is a certainty.

Going to Atlantic this weekend. The surf there is always terrible; I guess because of the way the island faces. Any beaches in that area have decent surf? The one time I took the ferry to Shackleford Banks it was pretty flat, but I know one trip doesn't say much.

When you say 'Atlantic' do you mean the town Atlantic or the town Atlantic Beach?

actually, i've never surfed before, just not my thing, i don't believe.

i would venture to say that hunting is big out east and the rifle season opens this coming weekend. i'm getting pretty excited about that.
