I'd probably rolleyes too if I found out the candidatepolitician I support has been known to say whatever it takes to get elected.
10/22/2008 3:35:43 PM
So you roll your eyes?McCain wants to cut taxes for everyone. He said that recently. Just as obama said to "spread the wealth" recently. I take both at thier word.
10/22/2008 3:42:11 PM
You're a fool to take anyone at their word when that person has shown that their word means zilch. Do you enjoy being lied to?
10/22/2008 3:46:45 PM
^^ I think you are highly confused Dr. B. That guy has a shrine devoted to George W Bush; I am sure the eye roll was supportive to your cause.
10/22/2008 3:51:42 PM
^^^ Because people are really yearning for that .5% back.

Hur, Im not big fan on mccain but he is at least proposing a lot less spending than obama. And not letting the bush tax cuts expire, credits towards healthcare, and cutting coorporate tax rates, are all better plans plans than what ive heard from obama. McCain has also called for a spending freeze and for CUTS in spending.. across the board. You might have heard the hatchet vs scalpel line before.Moron, she certainly didnt seem impressed with his answer. I agree with the chick. Now how did she get to 60%, I dunno. I guess she took the highest bracket, 35% added payroll 15%(roughly), and a 6-8% state income tax... I guess she threw in property and sales to get the rest? I dunno, but its entirely too much to take anywhere near 30% just for showing up to work, imo.

no, but obviously you are. If you don't consider any of those as "lies" or things that were done for political gain, then you probably shouldn't vote. or breathe.at the very least, don't have sex

Obama's lying through his teeth, at every opportunity he gets, saying that taxes will go down for everyone making less than $250k. I love how he conveniently doesn't mention letting Bush's tax cuts expire, which will raise taxes for most people.lovely. I totally want this guy to win
10/22/2008 6:46:54 PM
I used to have an account back in the early days here, but I went out west for awhile and forgot about the place. Thanks to the housing bust, I'm back in town for awhile and was reminded of the wolf web when a buddy sent me a link last week. I've spent a little time reading this stuff and am rather amused at the partisans on both sides of the aisle in here.
10/22/2008 6:47:57 PM
^^I'm pretty sure he's only gonna let them expire for people making more than 250K[Edited on October 22, 2008 at 6:48 PM. Reason : 2]
10/22/2008 6:48:31 PM
^^ aha! You come in here and post nothing but an ad hominem attack, then get pissy when I turn it right back on you? get the fuck out of here^ Care to back that up? I'm asking honestly. If he really is going to let them expire for everyone, then it really does negate his whole "tax cut" bullshit in the first place
10/22/2008 8:29:46 PM
10/22/2008 8:32:40 PM
your point? You think Obama will change that? You are sorely mistaken if you do.
10/22/2008 8:34:28 PM
My point was you asked
10/22/2008 8:37:22 PM
heh, Sarah Palin, one of America's biggest dumbshits, also one of the loudest voices on Obama being a socialist...why does anyone listen to her? She has proven herself to be one of the stupidest Americans that we can be so proud as to claim as one of our own. So, "socialism" is bad, but spending gobs of taxpayer dollars in a stupid, unjustified war in Iraq and spending a ridiculous amount of money(that our generations will be paying back) to bailout these goddamned CEOs and banks is good. I know I was happy to hear that after the bailout, the AIG execs spent $400,000 taxpayer dollars on a nice vacation for themselves, I'm sure they've been through a lot of stress and that must have really helped them get through this. Meanwhile the poor suckers on mainst. are still getting kicked out of their homes. We have a shitty healthcare plan, and infrastructure is going to shit, or it's already there. But no, socialism is 100% bad, bad, bad.It baffles me that people are so against "socialism", yet want to vote for someone who will take away other rights in other areas of life(COUGH abortion, gay marriage, etc.). Or the republicans are against "socialism" and then handout tax cuts to their rich friends. So, you don't want your gov't to regulate stuff like healthcare but you're happy to hand over your money to go to ridiculous other bullshit. I want to laugh, I want to cry, I don't know anymore. But my main objection is why do we listen to these people who have proven themselves time and time again so stupid that it is hard to believe that they are able to function in daily life, of course Bush did choke on that pretzel, close call there, I'm surprised stuff like that doesn't happen more often.

10/22/2008 11:49:51 PM
No, you're a dummy!
10/23/2008 12:02:39 AM
10/23/2008 12:30:52 AM
so if the top 5 percent pay like 95% of taxes or whatever the stat is, how much would the top 5% pay if obama is pres? like 97% of taxes?
10/23/2008 12:32:31 AM
Maybe, maybe not. The problem with raising taxes on profits and capital gains is that historically, they have often resulted in LESS revenue due to how our tax code works. Companies can defer profits by reinvesting or giving out bonuses, and people can defer capital gains for a few years if they think the capital gains tax rate will go down. Also, in a recession, revenues always go down, and the biggest drop is from the wealthy because their income is much more volatile.

Get your damn facts straight. The bailout is already north of 2 trillion (With a T. massive difference ) and some folks are saying it could double that before we're through, which is why all this nimbly bullshit about raising taxes and entitlement programs is a joke.
10/23/2008 7:27:45 AM
Let's be real, people. The very wealthy, because they can afford tax lawyers and all kinds of loopholes, really don’t pay nearly as much as you think they do when you just look at the percentages. Frankly, I think the first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans with children that need to educate their children, and they’re the ones that I would support tax cuts for first.
10/23/2008 9:21:55 AM
lets just not tax income and quit bitching about how much of someones money they really deserve. As if we could know.
10/23/2008 9:49:19 AM
10/23/2008 9:56:53 AM
[quote]Well, at the very least McCain has a record of not raising taxes every time he could. But I guess you don't give a shit about how people have acted in the past.[./quote]Did you just choose to ignore the information in the videos above, or do you just not care how people have acted in the past?
10/23/2008 9:58:45 AM
Here's what I really believe: when you reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more.
10/23/2008 10:00:35 AM
And there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you don't make it mandatory. If you feel the compulsion to share your success and "spread the wealth", then no one is going to stop you. Once someone forces me to do the same with my money, and give it to everyone who doesn't work as hard, then we have problems, because that's what they call "socialism".
10/23/2008 10:52:54 AM
So you agree, John McCain is a socialist.
10/23/2008 10:59:05 AM
^ Well there's the old McCain who said that, and then there's the new older McCain who would vote against anything the old McCain would have proposed. They're two completely different people. One of them was pretty cool and the other is running for president.
10/23/2008 11:01:50 AM
10/23/2008 11:13:44 AM
Don't get me wrong - I'm not a big fan of McCain. He's got plenty of toxic ideas himself.Barack Obama, though, is an unashamed socialist who honestly believes in this "share the wealth" entitlement mentality, and I can, under absolutely no circumstances, support that. There are other equally inflammatory things that he has said that eliminate him from my consideration, but the wealth redistribution and entitlement mentality are pretty big killers. The only thing about him that's more important, in my eyes, is his rabidly anti-gun voting record.
