Watching the USS McCain/Palin ship go down in a tumble has been such a culminating fun thing for us dems! Additionally, it's good to see this thread full of crying wingnuts is still out there. Let me tell you, it's a real fucking treat to see all of the thrashing as the election comes to a close!

don't worry. it will be just as nice to see you libs try and explain away the mess that Obama creates. I reckon that Obama himself will responsible for at least 2 or 3 terms of Republican presidents, and at least 2 republican landslides in congressional elections.

^ So the cycle will continue, basically?2008 Voter: "This sucks. Let's try the other party."2012 Voter: "Well, that failed. Let's try the other party."2016 Voter: "No, still bad. Let's try the other party."[Edited on October 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM. Reason : try]

Obama will be handed an irresponsible financial debt, the GOP was handed a responsible financial surplus.Any idiot understands this.Hopefully the democrats can clean it up, but if they cannot only a moron would suggest it's his fault. That's like saying when an irresponsible idiot spills paint on the carpet and then another person comes in and takes over to try and clean up the paint, that responsible person will be suddenly blamed for not getting all of the paint stain out of the carpet in under 30 minutes.Great strategy, brilliant. No wonder we are so fucked right now.The original painter should of done his due diligence to prevent the paint from staining the carpet. He should of been aware of where the paint was and taken precaution to prevent it from spilling in the first place. The truth of the matter is, the original painter didn't know how to paint or any of the guidelines to follow to avoid catastrophe. Instead of admitting that, the original painter will bitch and moan at the new painter, who is an actual painter, and whine about his inability to get all of the paint out of the carpet. The GOP won't have a landslide victory for at least two presidential election cycles, mark my words.[Edited on October 19, 2008 at 7:45 AM. I find it amusing that the democrats are assuming that Obama will win. The election has not occurred yet.

I ran into a few non-citizens while canvassing last night. This shouldn't happen, as our lists supposedly come from voter rolls. Some folks who swore they hadn't registered as well. Make of that what you will.
10/21/2008 12:00:24 PM
Who were you canvassing for? Were they the right names? New residents? How would they vote? Fake registrations are annoying...but fake people aren't going to show up at the polls to vote.[Edited on October 21, 2008 at 5:14 PM. Reason : .]
10/21/2008 5:12:53 PM
As noted earlier in the thread, I'm canvassing for ACORN. I agree the non-citizens aren't going to show to the polls. They know they can't vote, even if they appear on my little list.
10/23/2008 1:36:35 AM
^From what I read, ACORN and other vote drive groups get their lists from the same places telemarketers do. That's why someone's dead goldfish in Ohio got campaign and voter registration pamphlets in the mail (family signed up for something under the goldfish name, I've done that on internet registration shit before myself.)
10/23/2008 1:43:29 AM
I don't know where they get the names, but they tell me anyone on the list should be a registered voter. I assume they get them from the county clerk.

Acorn Report Raises Issues of Legality
10/23/2008 2:39:27 AM
Yeah a lot of these voter registration groups seem to be plagued with a mix of incompetence, naivete, and corruption. I remember in 2004 a group got in trouble for throwing out or tearing up a lot of the democratic registrations- although in that case it was the head of the company doing a lot of it. One of the more honest employees (also a republican) was the one who turned him in on that one. They had also had problems with turning in false registrations to meet quotas. While I love the idea of getting people to vote and helping people register, there seems to be problems inherent in paying-per-registration and even more so in paying-per-(insert political affiliation here)-registration. The company mentioned above had also been accused of re-registering already registered voters under a different party without their consent. ACORN should probably dissolve itself- handing over assets to pay back taxes and passing the remainder along to more competent and less tarnished voter registration groups. Huh? What about my post are you referring to? I said they should dissolve themselves and pay their back taxes.

Do you really trust something you've read on "The Nation" they're probably just trying to smear Obama so that the Cynthia McKinney will win.
10/23/2008 4:21:33 AM
^ Um. . .sarcasm? It's widely known that ACORN endorsed Obama.
10/23/2008 4:39:23 AM
Yeah I was joking. I enjoyed that you used such a liberal source. It would be kind of like me citing O'Reilly as a source for something.

I don't mean disband and go away- I mean break itself up and be absorbed by organizations who aren't under so much fire. I mean the name ACORN isn't known by the public for much else besides this scandal, so their name isn't an asset it's a liability.
10/23/2008 1:32:06 PM
Interesting idea, but do organizations ever do that sort of thing voluntarily? Strikes me as contrary to the interest of folks running ACORN. They'd presumably lose power.
10/23/2008 1:35:47 PM
Oh no I don't expect them to. It's kind of like when people said "John McCain should get rid of Palin"It's not like most people really thought he would.
10/23/2008 1:37:28 PM
I suspect ACORN will continue to cause trouble for many elections to come.

Cops got me tonight. I apparently scared some pregnant woman while I was wandering around and looking for the houses on my list. Four of Albuquerque's finest. They put the lights on me, made me drop the palm pilot I was holding. Said the stylus looked like a shank. Grabbed my hands, searched me. The usual. Talked shit about ACORN. Then let me go. Never a dull moment at this job.
