I've always been reluctant to post this because of all the Animal Collective fan people on here, but they've never impressed me to a great extent. I don't hate it, but I mean, meh.

you're dead to me, perfect internet stranger.

yea i just think its hyped up too much, I thought some of the songs on the new album were super catchy no doubt but I cant dig it the same way some people do. I did still like it though. im going to give some of their older stuff a try too that I havent heard before. But put it this way, there is no way in hell it is a 9.6 and Frances the mute was a 2 ...but thats more of Pitchfork just being one of the worst and most biased music review sites ive run across [Edited on January 27, 2009 at 7:09 PM. 1/27/2009 6:59:30 PM
i think AC fans and unfans alike can agree that Pitchfork blows
1/27/2009 7:10:26 PM
So... just got my hands on the new Franz Ferdinand album (I actually waited and bought the CD ).Totally reminded me why I fucking love the band. Didn't like it quite as much as some of their past work, but still amazing.
1/27/2009 8:21:22 PM
dear god that wavves album is loud
1/27/2009 9:03:03 PM
another great album from 2008 that i recently foundGrouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hillreally mellow, pretty album.. good sleeping music. some similarities to Beach House/Cocteau Twinshttp://www.myspace.com/grouperrepuorg
1/27/2009 11:18:06 PM
^I agree, I listened to it a few days ago and really dug it.
1/28/2009 12:53:09 AM
holy shit, Merriweather Post Pavilion debuted at #13 on the Billboard charts this week, while Bon Iver's "Blood Bank" came in at #16 ... Andrew Bird's boring ass new album sold even better, coming in at #12
1/28/2009 1:43:39 PM
^ andrew bird's "boring ass new album" entertains me 12 times as much as Merriweather Post Pavilion
1/28/2009 1:54:56 PM
that's fine.. i just feel like he's mailed it in since Mysterious Production of Eggs, which is a fantastic album
1/28/2009 2:12:23 PM
^ I can understand that argument. I just like his stuff so much that I'm okay with it all generally following the same sound and structure. However, I agree that it'd be cool if he would change it up a bit
1/28/2009 2:36:29 PM
i got to talk to him on NPR once and i totally blew my question i wanted to ask and i sounded like an idiot, doh!
1/28/2009 6:13:17 PM

basically just for kiljadn, mando diao's new album is out overseas on the 13th of february and it's called give me fire[Edited on January 29, 2009 at 1:29 PM. Reason : ]

^^haha. its totally different but very good (in my opinion of course). To be honest, no matter how good any of the bands they are involved in after Beloved (dead poetic, classic case, solo stuff, advent etc.) I wont ever be able to say it is "beloved good" I dont think. ill post this here for you even though i posted it another place. it makes me want to go back in time and go to some shows at the hart witzen art gallery or something http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDExBdckFMk&eurl=http://dumpoff.com/discussion/20056/beloved-at-533-uprisings-fest-2001/[Edited on January 29, 2009 at 1:34 PM. hahahahaha oh man i remember playing there in high school with one six conspiracy, near the never, and walsham. i think we played with White Octave there too once. i remember that place because the owner refused to pay us any money even though we brought nearly half of charlotte catholic hahah
1/29/2009 2:27:58 PM
hahaha. yea man, i actually rocked some walsham out the other day

new Beirut EP leaked, fwiw
1/29/2009 6:27:04 PM
That Franz Ferdinand album is uber mediocre. Aside from a talented handful, the indie wave of the past five years is really starting to show its lack of depth. Seems like something has to give
1/30/2009 2:32:13 PM
I didn't particularly like it either. Send Him Away (the guitar and bass play well with each other) and Ulysses are the only decent tracks.
1/30/2009 4:38:28 PM
i'm having a good enough time w/ this beirut.
1/30/2009 5:05:04 PM
plz to post

The new Junior Boys is kinda disappointing. I'd see them live again but as an album the material felt kinda flat and underwhelming. What's everyone's favorite off of Dark Was The Night? Yeasayer - Tightrope is mine. Sounds like Sufjan found a demo from the Enjoy Your Rabbit days to throw to this project. I'm listening to disk 2 today and it starts off great with that Spoon track.
2/1/2009 12:15:38 PM
that new Bon Iver track (Brackett WI) is really good.. also like the Dirty Projectors/David Byrne song
2/1/2009 12:24:24 PM
I dig that new Appleseed Cast. It's a bit different, but awesome nonetheless. For some reason it seems a bit more shoegazey, if that makes any sense. I look forward to hearing a non-watermarked version. And I've also been digging the new Bon Iver stuff. I managed to find some of Justin Vernon's early stuff and it is also damned good. His voice makes my dick hard.
2/1/2009 1:17:22 PM
i'm rather partial to grizzly bear's "deep blue sea".
2/1/2009 1:54:20 PM
Wow, the electronic/ techno- influenced Beirut stuff on Holland is terrible... sounds like some internet geek fucking around on some bad music software. The other EP (more traditional Beirut) is really good though
2/1/2009 2:10:00 PM
"venice" and especially "the concubine" are pretty good, but the others like "no dice" are pretty cheesy.
2/1/2009 2:31:14 PM
^ yeah, I do like the concubine. gotta love the toy piano.
2/1/2009 2:35:44 PM
I did see that the songs are credited to Realpeople so they aren't part of the Beirut canon exactly.
2/1/2009 2:49:49 PM
2/2/2009 5:32:16 PM
eh, they're a dime a dozen, mang.another one as reliable will pop up to replace it, just as boards have replaced albumbase, and what.cd/waffles replaced oink.
2/2/2009 5:40:07 PM
yeah but it's like losing an old friend
2/2/2009 8:47:25 PM
^ haha, very true. After much delay I finally got around to listen to M83's Saturday=Youth after hearing so much buzz about it, and on first listen it just sounded like a Stars retread. I'm going to give it a few more listens and I have heard other individual songs of theirs in the past that I really liked ["don't save us from the frames" and "safe"], but my first listen to this one wasn't very rewarding. I'm not giving up yet, though.[Edited on February 3, 2009 at 1:33 PM. Reason : .]

"couleurs", "graveyard girl", and "kim & jessie" are the highlights for me. "up!" is pretty irritating.
2/3/2009 1:33:30 PM
^^ thats funny because for whatever reason i put that album aside and finally got around to it last weeki like it, "kim & jessie" is the obvious highlight of the album
2/3/2009 1:48:43 PM
^^, ^ --- Thanks for the song recommendations. I'll be certain to pay close attention to those on subsequent listens this week.
2/3/2009 1:52:46 PM
downloaded the new wu-tang track "Wu Ooh"really good shit. best i've heard in quite a while.i really like the minimal production. drums + vocals for the backing track.here's a link. it may still work:http://nahright.com/news/2009/02/02/raekwon-ft-ghostface-method-man-wu-ohh/

nice, ill have to check that out at home.In other news, mewithoutYou just announced the title of their new record and released the artwork. It's All Crazy! It's All False, It's All a Dream. It's AlrightIn this past this band has done nothing but amaze me with every album they have recorded, and Brother, Sister was nearly a perfect album and my top of 2006. But, with a a slight change to the lineup and a big change in sound im both excited but a little anxious about how this next (and possibly last) mwY record will sound.
2/3/2009 4:41:38 PM
^i'm pretty fucking pumped. apparently it's pretty heavily influenced by neutral milk hotel.
2/3/2009 5:03:56 PM
yea, as skeptical as I am in a big change of sound, they are an awesome group of musicians and songwriters and I am sure I will end up loving the heck out of the record.
2/3/2009 5:05:06 PM
first listen though and that appleseed cast is absolutely wonderful. I need to dedicate more time to it later though as I was listening at the gym and was slightly distracted with background music on and all.
