i'm looking forward to seeing what comes of android on verizon. i want to chuck this failberry out the window.
10/10/2009 12:14:33 PM
I'm currently debating getting a BB or the HTC Imagio for verizon and it seems like the HTC is a legit line in its own right. I've browsed the last couple of pages of this thread and it seems everyone is looking forward to the hero on verizon? So, decison time... BB storm 2 (not released), Imagio, or Hero?k thx
10/12/2009 10:32:43 AM
yeah, I'm debating on the storm 2 or one of the Verizon androids that are due to release soon. Guess it all depends on if you want a good business platform (storm 2), ability to mod to your hearts content (imagio), or the next big thing (android). I've had my storm for about 8 months and it works great especially with 5.0.0.230. More memory, wifi, and an improved screen is tempting though. But with a motorola and HTC android coming, I think I might look into one of those.[Edited on October 12, 2009 at 11:02 AM. Reason : ]

so i was excited about the hero dropping yesterday to see if it could be my new phone because i'm not so happy with the size of my touch pro 2. i went to the sprint store just now and i have a feeling the touch pro 2 isn't going to be topped til after the 4G capable phones come out in january. the keyboard on the hero is nowhere as nice as even the onscreen keyboard for the tp2 and the screen is nowhere near as brilliant as the tp2.
10/12/2009 1:31:09 PM
You guys know they're replacing some TPs with TP2s now right? You actually have a list of devices to choose from now.
10/12/2009 5:48:26 PM
which area will have 4G network? there's no point getting a 4G phone if there's no network.
10/13/2009 12:20:29 AM
yea they just replaced my TP with a TP2 for no cost to me out of warranty
10/13/2009 12:38:47 AM
Raleigh, Charlotte and Greensboro should have 4G before the end of the year.
10/13/2009 7:30:20 AM
^^ Do you have TEP ?
10/13/2009 7:34:33 AM
Just got my Sprint TP2... 200 bux + tax it is just brilliant!! The screen is outta this world, evryone knows how nice the keyboard is and finally they did something good with the speakerfone.. It is a fingerprint magnet though.. no matter what I do it gets smudged..
10/14/2009 10:00:05 AM
I think I'm 8 months from the new subscriber incentives. Who wants a SERO 1250 plan w/pick3 and a mildly worn Touch Pro?
10/14/2009 10:06:30 AM
Has anybody tried gps software on the TP2? Does it fit the screen correctly.. my Mogul was 320 by 240.. this screen is a lot bigger.. so I'm assuming it wont work in full screen mode..
10/14/2009 11:44:25 AM
depends on the software - if the program wasn't written by idiots then it'll work fine
10/14/2009 11:47:03 AM
Have you tried Garmin Mobile XT?

Yea HTC is becoming stingy.. dint even provide a leather case with the fone... which case did you order?
10/14/2009 9:05:08 PM
The Hero really is a bad ass phone. I checked it out in Sprint yesterday.
10/14/2009 9:11:42 PM
i put the same YouTube video side by side on my Touch Pro 2 and the Hero and I walked out of the store smiling that I had the Touch Pro 2 and the keys on the onscreen keyboard on the hero were too "skinny" for my fingers. I looked for a quick way to re-calibrate the screen for my fingers but didn't find anything.^^ no case yet, it's naked. I ordered the invisible shieldz but it hasn't come yet.

the BB mail client is great but...
10/17/2009 10:29:17 AM
yeah, I have my email forwarded to a gmail account for work so I don't have to wait the 5-15min to get email from exchange. Regular blackberry email works great as long as there isn't a BIS outage which seems to be happening more often lately. The browser isn't good but it isn't bad. Flash support is coming and RIM is working on a new browser after acquiring torch that's supposedly due out next summer. Opera Mini 5 is also a pretty good alternative.[Edited on October 17, 2009 at 11:27 AM. Reason : ]

Blackberrys were not designed for entertainment devices, they were deisgned for corporate email and to be conencted to a BES.Dispite how they are used today by many people, they still have a very important and functional role. Very few devices meet management and security options offered by a blackberry. That being said they are Corporate devices, or something you get to pretend like your employer is actually paying for your cellphone. There are plenty of other phones out there that do everything the average user needs better, cheaper and faster.
11/3/2009 11:55:11 AM
How do people feel about the lack of multitouch, coming from an iphone im kinda worried.
11/3/2009 12:01:25 PM
Leo is capacitive and multitouch isn't it?
11/3/2009 1:02:10 PM
^ yeptouch pro 2 isn't though and when you upgrade ROMs there's so much mem usage, that's why i'm thinking of ebaying it still - the device was just launched at a bad time when we're on the verge of a few breakthroughs into resistive screens and better OSes.sure you can flash the ROM but the mem usage sky rockets. i was sitting at 40-45% easily on wm6.1 with tf3d. after the flash to MightyROM, i start at 50% on a fresh restart, and after a few hours of use, even after closing all apps, it sits around 80% mem usage or higher.[Edited on November 3, 2009 at 5:21 PM. Damn, you people talking about TP2's and Hero's, and I still have my old Diamond Touch How do you upgrade the phones so fast? I guess that just comes with the contract or w/e, right? So I need to change the ROM so I can get much better battery life, phone dies about 3pm with normal (for me) use. What is the best ROM? It seems there are so many options out there on ppcgeeks, any experiences?
11/4/2009 10:59:26 AM
I never cared for MightyRom. I used a collaboration build from Mighty and Silence for the longest time because it gave me the best battery life and was incredibly stable. Now I use EnergyRom on my TP/Herman and typically hover around 50% memory usage. Some roms are built for speed, some for stability, and some for cutting edge applications, eyecandy and packaged features. Maybe you have an application that's causing a memory leak? Do you hard reset before and after each flash? Have you looked at any other cooks?
11/4/2009 6:06:25 PM
I'm on the Juicy R1 ROM (WM 6.5, Sense UI 2.5) with no problems at all. Memory usage isn't too bad. A few tweaks (such as disabling the Opera "instant on" feature...there's a cab for that!) will help out with the memory usage. Also, if you run htcAddicts CleanRAM you can keep your memory usage low.[Edited on November 5, 2009 at 11:09 AM. Reason : My phone is a Sprint TP2]

^^i dont know if i have any apps that do that. i dont run anything other than AIM and Shozu occasionally...AIM does instakill the battery tho. only program that runs constantly is Activesync, which ive toned back a bit. I dont know what you mean by flash and havent used any kitchens, I just run vanilla/factory. I run the internet on it a lot. Thanks for the tips!

I have a brand new touch pro (ATT Fuze) and want to play around with some slick roms before I sell it and grab a touch pro 2 (ATT tilt2). I'm admittedly out of the game for a while. Can someone point me to a good one, speed being a priority, possibly based on winmo6.5 with or without touch-flo or senseui
11/19/2009 2:24:29 PM
i just tried to run groovefish but it says my touch pro needs the latest version of microsoft .net compact framework. how do i get that? Is there a direct link to download it onto my mobile?
