dude, don't start with that shit. this thread already has all the people who "don't care" about ecu all riled up
9/17/2008 3:06:03 PM
I'm not a big fan of ever rushing the field or court. I was at the UNC game at NC State basketball when we beat them and all the students ran on the court. I stood and cheered but I think it just makes it look like you don't think your teams very good. If it was a game that locked up an ACC championship over a good team then maybe I'd say its a good idea. I do care about this game, I don't want to lose to ECU, but it's not like I'm going to be shocked and overcome with emotion if State does win.
9/17/2008 3:11:27 PM
all said and done, its going to be a good game, and for the price of tickets, it better be
9/17/2008 3:11:39 PM
^^I think that's the attitude that most state fans have, which is a normal one. Only idiots act like ECU is beneath them during years such as this. 2004? Yes, ECU was beneath you and I could see how you wouldn't want to play them.[Edited on September 17, 2008 at 3:15 PM. Reason : .]

well i can't really disagree with thatbut if we had lost to South Carolina and Clemson each by 1 point, we'd still be 1-2fuck ECU, we will beat them on Saturday
9/17/2008 3:39:58 PM
^ i'm not sure what losing to clemson and usc by one point has to do w/ anything, but sure.
9/17/2008 3:41:35 PM
I think what you're saying is that your TEAM is embarrassing. Yes, I agree with that. If you're a real fan, though, you recognize that you could gain some momentum from beating a ranked team and possibly turn your season around. I don't know, kinda like what happened last year maybe?
9/17/2008 3:51:44 PM
yea nc state turned their season around beating us........it's like they drank some purple energy juice in greenville and it wore off just in time for maryland
9/17/2008 4:03:49 PM
this year that's the case, sure.most years, that is not the case when playing ecu.
9/17/2008 4:05:27 PM
9/17/2008 4:08:35 PM
what made you think that anywhere i feel 'wronged'? clearly they are the better team, nothing to do there except not suck at football.
9/17/2008 4:10:39 PM
not you, in particular, i just think that if people feel slighted because of the fact that we're "supposed" to lose this game is stupid, and that quote that i pulled out was the feeling i was talking about[Edited on September 17, 2008 at 4:13 PM. Reason : you shouldn't be embarassed because a "worse" school is favored]
9/17/2008 4:12:35 PM
^^^ couldn't have said it better myselfEven perrenial powers go through times of extreme mediocrity (Nebraska & Miami for example) because of coaching changes, injuries to key players, the NFL draft, etc.ebb and flow of college football[Edited on September 17, 2008 at 4:13 PM. Reason : ^]

on a completely different note, i know some ecu fans that have said to me, "you guys suck, we're gonna slaughter you guys!"i bet VT and WVU thought the same thing, asshats.
9/17/2008 4:16:10 PM
we're not exactly in a down swing to a recent up. we've poured money into this program and are still terrible. ecu plays in cusa in a stadium that's 2/3 the size of ours, and has done what we simply cannot do.that is embarrassing.i really don't know how you want me to explain this.
9/17/2008 4:16:43 PM
amato wasn't a very good head coach, skip holtz is (better than amato anyway).and perhaps they have some talented guys at ECU.facilities are great, but good coaching is invaluable.and like tailstock said, ebb and flow.the size of your stadium does not a football team make.[Edited on September 17, 2008 at 4:19 PM. 9/17/2008 4:18:00 PM
^^ do you know how many transfers ECU has?how many players that couldnt make it at an ACC school that had to go elsewhere?and lots of times just plain guys that develop out of no where who werent highly touted in high school.but they have a LOT of room when it comes to academics and qualifications compared to State thats for sure.
9/17/2008 4:19:47 PM
^what he said.
9/17/2008 4:20:54 PM
those damned ECU non-qualifiers!

9/17/2008 4:53:53 PM
do not question the innards of the football factories to the south good sir. Just do know that the coaches can't control everything they do, see FSU suspensions this year and for the last well, decade.
9/17/2008 4:56:42 PM
9/17/2008 4:57:45 PM
^^ well regardless of what you wonder, it's harder to play football at miami than at ecu. NQs aren't really a big deal for me though, you won't read that argument out of any of my posts.^ no, but our donating spree is longer than TOB's tenure.[Edited on September 17, 2008 at 4:58 PM. Reason : don't put words in my mouth twista]
9/17/2008 4:58:18 PM
i'm not trying to put words in your mouth, but you seem to have waaaay too lofty expectations for our team this year, especially given that we're playing without our 1st string RB, 1st string WR, 1st string TE, etc
9/17/2008 5:00:39 PM
what are you talking about?i have zero expectations for the team this year. however, it is EMBARRASSING how bad we've been post-rivers, and even really looking back it's embarrassing how poorly we finished even w/ jesus h. rivers.and really, we'd be this bad w/o any of those injuries. don't make injuries one huge excuse like people did w/ degand and basketball.
9/17/2008 5:04:38 PM
we played basketball?
9/17/2008 5:08:19 PM
9/17/2008 5:11:53 PM

wow this thread has just exploded.
9/18/2008 9:19:27 AM
it's a whole lotta nothin. Let me condense the last 5 pages for you.State fans: man, we really suck. ECU is lame and playing them sucks.ECU fans: man, we're really good. We are rivals, but playing against you sucks.
9/18/2008 9:41:59 AM
^well put sir!

9/18/2008 9:52:28 AM
^^^ i dunno. i woulda went with the following:NCSU: we suck and you're not our rival... and we're not pumped about it this game because it's embarrassingECU: we're pretty good this year, get over yourselves, it IS a rivalry. Go PIRATES[Edited on September 18, 2008 at 1:10 PM. Reason : ^]
9/18/2008 1:10:36 PM
It is a rivalry game just because of the proximity. I would liken it to UNC-ch's basketball rivalries with us and Duke. UNC/Duke is the "main" rivalry, while UNC/State is the secondary one. Where in football State/UNC is the "main" rivalry and State/ECU is the secondary one. Although I don't think I would be offbase in saying that UNC fans take waaay more pleasure in beating us in basketball than we do beating ECU in football. So in that respect it's not an entirely fair comparison.UNC fans try to play the "you're not our rival" card in basketball the same way some State fans play it regarding ECU in football. It's just something people say to piss the other fans off. From personal experience though my reactions to losing and winning against either team in football go something like this:UNCWin: Woooo! This is fucking awesome! Fuck those guys!Loss: Fuck this shit! Fuck those guys!ECUWin: cool, we won.Loss: eh, whatever.
9/18/2008 1:50:16 PM
the whole point is if you have to clarify w/ "secondary", it's not a "rivalry".i'm so sick of that word.
9/18/2008 4:27:23 PM
I don't get why you don't consider it a rivalry. with all the shit talking between the 2 groups, seems like a rivalry to me.
9/18/2008 6:48:17 PM
It is. These people just have to argue about something.
9/18/2008 8:38:55 PM
this whole thread is simply pregame shit talking (which shows fans care)at least State and ECU care enough to do that...those fucking whiny tarhole fags dont!]
9/18/2008 8:43:01 PM
are you guys worried about Duke? (football) be honest
9/18/2008 9:29:15 PM
yeah
9/18/2008 9:30:06 PM
i'm more pissed off than worried about dukepissed off that we don't get to play them the last few years because of shitty conference realignment when we could chalk up an easy W, and now we have to play them when we suck and they're getting better
9/18/2008 9:33:01 PM
on a drizzly saturday morning in 2002 we watched Duke break a 28 game losing streak against us. fuckin humiliating
