That speech fucking rocked. And I was skeptical myself because I think he's been off a bit on the podium lately but that was a great fucking speech. Passionate and he's going to come out swinging and thats exactly what dems haven't done in far too long.
8/28/2008 11:18:24 PM
^^^^As a staunch Democrat I can firmly say he fired up his party with that speech, which is a primary goal of conventions these days, which is exactly what he needed to do as the election approaches. He was accepting the Democratic Party's nomination, so its good that is was a speech that appealed to his party as well as had some broad appeal elements in the mix.[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 11:22 PM. anything from hooksaw? Where the greek columns overwhelming for you? Too much hubris? You know - of all the legitimate reasons to criticize Obama, you pick the most ridiculous bullshit. Complaining because he said the word arugula to a bunch of farmers, and because he put up some columns in the biggest speech of his life that ended up looking more like a Japanese sushi bar than the Acropolis.

I have no doubt that McCain started yelling and cursing when Obama said that mccain wasn't willing to take out bin laden in his cave.^barack's a terrible dancer. I'm guessing he gets that from his mom[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 11:53 PM. Reason : .]

Pat Buchanan tonight called Obama's speech the greatest convention speech of all time...must have swallowed hard before he got that out. He even said it was beautiful. Wow...haha, check that out:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Fru4dZLGAAlex Castellanos of CNN who is a republican strategist said somewhat of the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIX4P0fApmA

^ Never said they could. And GG on avoiding my post. So, you've got nothing, right?
8/29/2008 8:42:22 AM
Pelosi's a cunt. Acting right is often a pain in the ass. And that guy absolutely should not have been arrested. He deserves major restitution from all responsible parties. And none of that has a goddamn thing to do with the discussion at hand.
8/29/2008 9:01:28 AM
^ Damn. That post was almost perfect.Everything I listed in the post at issue was related to the Democrat National Convention 2008. Can you not see that?
8/29/2008 9:06:57 AM
The Pelosi thing had nothing to do with the discussion at hand, which was about Obama using a big, open arena to give his speech. Or, you know, I assumed that's what you were responding to, since you quoted me saying that. Nevertheless, as spooky said, Pelosi is a cunt, and what she does with her $100k donors has nothing to do with where Obama wishes to give his speech.
8/29/2008 9:47:31 AM
the irrelevance of hooksaw's post is incredible.
8/29/2008 10:20:46 AM
You folks must be fucking thick or something. *Sigh* Here goes--for the doofuses:The Pelosi 100 post at issue. . . http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Conventions/story?id=5667999&page=1. . .is, in fact, related to the thread topic. As even buffoons should be able to see, the very link itself contains the word "Conventions" in it, and the article is a part of a DNC-related series. In addition, the DNC is mentioned throughout. My post was and is related to the topic. Just because a group of you are focused on the topic "at hand" doesn't mean that I can't post about the broader topic.I'm sure that you would rather attack me than deal with the hypocrisy of Pelosi and Company anyway. But your anti-hooksaw shit does get sickening at times--it really affects your ability to think rationally.

In his own words, I think Obama explains his appeal pretty well:

People watched it? Shocking, since it was easily the most advertised political convention of all time. And it was on, what, 8 TV stations on normal cable? So.. yeah..
8/29/2008 4:28:56 PM

Depends on what happens with the hurricane...I think 28 may be a little aggressive, I'll say 25 million
8/29/2008 5:31:55 PM
i dunno, its no coincidence the dems was the highest ever and it was also carried on more stations than ever...first televised debates in 1980, only on the 3 networks...as the population grows and the number of news channels grow, the viewership will obviously grow for both conventions, and iirc bush had like 21 million in 2004who knows though, we'll see[Edited on August 29, 2008 at 5:34 PM. ^ That type of attack doesn't stick. It's not short and simple, and takes too much explanations to make people care. Especially with Palin having such an "honest" face, they'll have to dig deeper than that to smear her.The firing-the-patrollman-because-he-divorced-her-sister could be damaging though, if played properly.[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 8:57 PM. It can be over simplified to "she says she for reform & against the bridge to no where & it turns out she wasn't" when mixed in with the few other corruption/investigation charges floating around, inexperience, and nice quotes from her about how she hasn't really thought about Iraq before & doesn't know anything about it... with all that combined with a 24 hour news cycle to feed, I can see this getting picked up on a larger level. McCain only met her once, and she's never been vetted on the national level before, and she stands for nothing like what Hillary stands for, and things like this are just going to keep popping up.
