It's been confirmed that Bill Murray is in the movie.

I mean, I'm not turned off by it. Will be there opening night. #GhostbustersNerd
3/3/2016 10:13:59 AM
Well yeah, any Ghostbusters fan is going to be seeing this. It looks like they are relying too much on nostalgia though. Which I guess is the norm for these remakes. I just feel like its going to be forgettable.

Also...four scientists saved NY? Pretty sure Winston wasn't a scientist.
3/3/2016 10:23:35 AM
They are just trying too hard to be the original cast. Looks like the one with the glasses is the only one that is actually trying to be original here in that she's got a sense of humor vs. Egon's very serious and logical approach to everything. Ray gets slimed again. Winston is the relatable/non-scientist again. Venkman is the silly guy again (although Melissa McCarthy seems to be making it way more slapstick than Murray ever did, so not nearly as witty).
3/3/2016 10:37:09 AM
no thanksand all i asked was that they don't touch the song
3/3/2016 11:37:05 AM
The trailer is awful.
3/3/2016 12:10:49 PM
I have no problem with them remaking this movie, or doing it with a female cast, the original isn't sacred to me in any way, but
3/3/2016 12:13:41 PM
I'm failing to see how the trailer could be considered awful, but whatever
3/3/2016 12:57:44 PM
3/3/2016 12:59:02 PM
^^every single joke in the trailer was just a rehashed version of jokes and gags I've seen a thousand times in other movies and tv. It looks like it's a well made movie, with good production value, but from that trailer it appears that story and comedy-wise, it offers up nothing new[Edited on March 3, 2016 at 1:14 PM. The ghosts in the two original movies that were done with practical effects look WAY more believable than the CGI ones in this trailer.
3/3/2016 1:34:45 PM
The trailer looks like they took Ghosbusters, sucked all of the humor out of it, and then force it to have a threesome with Scary Movie 3(bad jokes) and the Scooby-Doo movie(bad ghost special effects). This trailer is the bastard son of that unholy trinity. This movie is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
3/3/2016 1:58:23 PM
^Practical effects in general look way better when done right. I'm still yet to see CGI in a movie that looks better than properly done practical effects. That's why lots of movies from the 70s/80s still hold up today (Jaws, The Thing, etc.) but films with heavy use of CGI can look dated.
3/3/2016 1:59:07 PM

This looks really bad.Predictable, schlocky humor and bad CGI.If the trailer is supposed to highlight the best of what the film has to offer then it's looking pretty grim.
3/3/2016 4:25:48 PM
All this time I thought trailers were intended to trick people into paying 7 to 15 bucks for 'entertainment'
3/3/2016 4:33:41 PM
Predictably, Kate McKinnon is far and away the best part of this trailer, because Kate McKinnon is far and away the best part of anything.

Trailer is awful, but I don't have a problem with the CGI. That demon hound in the original was 10x worse than anything in the trailer. Gotta love the black character is the street-smart, non-scientist who loves Cadillacs.
3/3/2016 6:33:45 PM
3/3/2016 7:27:00 PM
I didn't hate it, but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.Still a movie I'll probably go see but the trailer didn't generate any excitement.
3/3/2016 8:22:16 PM
Very meh. If they were going to go with a straight up reboot I wish they'd tried to do things differently. Instead it is the same packs, same uniforms, similar Ecto-1, similar back stories for the characters, etc.
3/3/2016 11:22:08 PM
I'm not sure there's a ton of fault to be found in casting Leslie Jones to play Leslie Jones. There are three good scenes in Top Five, and she steals one of them by doing the same stuff.

I mean...it's so apparent that it isn't necessary to bring it up even more. But I feel like i had to answer the guy's question. I also didn't think the trailer looked as bad as I expected. But McKinnon was definitely the only bright spot...and I do usually love whatever Wiig does...so we'll see.

3/4/2016 1:17:07 PM
it was probably well into post production before #OscarsSoWhite was a thing.
3/4/2016 1:19:22 PM
it was a thing last year too, just wasn't as big/publicized
3/4/2016 1:20:46 PM
ah. well in that case, regular production was probably too far along to rewrite an entire character and her role in the film
3/4/2016 1:22:53 PM
The other thing to consider is that the filmmakers don't cut the trailer. For all we know, Leslie Jones spends the entire film subverting her tropes, but that's hard to show in a trailer so it was cut to the cliche. Have you ever seen the trailers for Rushmore? They basically have nothing to do with the actual film.
3/4/2016 1:57:38 PM
3/4/2016 2:34:58 PM
^ i don't wanna go that far, but yeah, doesn't seem likely that they cut a trailer that looks like it reinforces stereotypes and/or character tropes only so they can be torn down in the actual movie. i just don't know why you'd want to come out of the gates giving people a negative impression like that if you're the people who cut and approve the trailer. maybe it's more common than i realize. does a director really have no input on that?just kinda feels like the old "whatever. you'll pay to go see it. fuck you." thing from south park[Edited on March 4, 2016 at 3:47 PM. Reason : .]
3/4/2016 3:44:06 PM
I wouldn't say that the director has no input/approval, but trailers are almost universally cut by people who only cut trailers.
3/4/2016 5:47:04 PM
Yeah, to back up that sentiment have you see the trailers for The Witch and Crimson Peak? Most misleading trailers I've ever fucking seen.
