HUGE round of polls today. Read them and weep.McCain is slipping, Obama continues to strengthen. Florida polls are dramatic trend direction, samples and weight on these are heavy meaning that progression models stasticially have Obama winning this thing with more certainty. I know I was worried on ELECTION day that the polls had Kerry winning. I think ill wait a bit to worry this time around.
6/18/2008 3:14:53 PM
We need debates between the two.

i think anyone with a brain knew bush was gonna win in 04...dont need no poll to figure that one out[Edited on June 18, 2008 at 3:19 PM. Reason : l]
6/18/2008 3:18:56 PM
Good, I think debates will be good contrast and even help Obama.Face it...this election is all about demonizing Obama and making him seem radical and dangerous. If GOP can't do that, it's over.
6/18/2008 3:19:35 PM
Kerry was leading the same on Bush by almost the same amounts this time 2004 as well.
6/18/2008 3:23:43 PM
Nobody expected Bush to keel over before November either
6/18/2008 3:28:03 PM
^^i dont buy that for one second...did you ever talk to people around 2004? "bush sucks" mentality hadn't set in yet....i never doubted for one second that bush was gonna get re-elected...maybe thats just my intution and i have good judgement, idk...but the idea of bush losing never crossed my mind

good thing for Bush, Diebold delivered Ohio, despite the overwhelming statistics from exit polls to the contrary.of course, had Kerry won, we wouldn't be in all this Obama-mania right now.[Edited on June 18, 2008 at 4:02 PM. Reason : ]

6/18/2008 4:07:47 PM
whatever terp. Mark my words, if that fucker loses it will be one or both of those reasons why. It wont be the fact he doesnt have a resumee or his policies are an economic disaster.. it will be "the country isnt ready" or voter disenfranchisement or fraud.Look, it was voter fraud in 2000, then joe just called 2004 fraud too. Yep, no leg to stand on there.terp, unrelated, how did your LSAT go?
6/18/2008 6:09:56 PM
^ I agree completely. If he loses I'm sure that some magazine is going to have STILL SCARED OF BLACKS and a picture of Obama on the cover following the election.
6/18/2008 7:02:44 PM
its well documented the irregularities that went on in Ohio in 2004.Diebold's CEO boasted to a fundraiser full of 1000$ per plate Bush supporters (where he was the Keynote Speaker) that "Diebold would deliver Ohio for the President"Kenneth Blackwell, fundamentalist evangelical GOP gubernatorial candidate for Ohio, and fervent Bushie, also happened to be Director of Elections for the entire state and was the person who was instrumental in getting Diebold as the exclusive contractor to supply voting machines for the state.there were serious shenanigans going on in Ohio in 2004, not the least of which included:-- republican precincts with excess machines-- democratic precincts with insufficient number of and/or broken machines.-- republican precincts with record high turnout (several hundred percent greater than expected)-- democratic precincts with record low turnout, even though lines stretched around the block and voters were turned away.-- instances of votes for Kerry that recorded instead for Bush-- instances of negative totals for Kerry in at least one precinctand the overall statistically significant error between exit polls and reported results.not to mention Diebold's steadfast refusal to allow third-party inspection of their voting machine source codeI don't care what party you support, this is completely unacceptable any way you look at it. If Diebold is blameless, then why do they continue to obstruct any meaningful investigation into these claims? Why do they obstruct legislation to force all voting machine manufacturers to make their source code (at least for the counting and reporting and storage of results) open to inspection?these are not isolated claims, they were state-wide and from a completely wide range of independent observers.[Edited on June 18, 2008 at 7:16 PM. A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so manyothers her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, andwas very much in favor of 'the redistribution of wealth.'She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, afeeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she hadparticipated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt thather father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what hethought should be his.One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes onthe rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. Theself-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truthand she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she wasdoing in school.Taken aback, she answered rath er haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and lethim know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying. Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?'She replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular oncampus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all theparties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes becauseshe's too hung over.'Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's officeand ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend whoonly has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly thatwould be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.'The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily firedback, 'That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I'veinvested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!'The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.

Boone let's do an experiment. You and 99 other students will be in a class I am teaching. I will pick 10 students to be born into wealth and the rest will be forbidden from attending lectures but they will have to take the same test at the end.If you fail I fart in your eyes and you are expelled from school

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MzQ4YTY4YjQyMzRjYjA5MGZlNDBiZTkwYmEyODg5NTc=&w=MA10 concerns about Obama. This is my number one concern with him:7. Barack Obama’s economic policies would hurt the economy. As Kimberly Strassel recently put it in the Wall Street Journal: “Mr. Obama is hawking a tax policy that would take the nation back to the effective marginal tax rates of the Carter days. He wants to further tax income, payroll, capital gains, dividends and death. His philosophy is pure redistribution.” When Barack Obama speaks of taxing only the wealthy, keep in mind this could have a devastating effect on new small businesses. As Irwin Stelzer has written: “Taxes change behavior. By raising rates on upper income payers, Obama is reducing their incentive to work and take risks. The income tax increase is not all that he has in mind for them. He plans to increase their payroll taxes, the taxes they pay on dividends received and capital gains earned, and on any transfers they might have in mind to their kith and kin when they shuffle off this mortal coil. If the aggregate of these additional taxes substantially diminishes incentives to set up a small business of the sort that has created most of the new jobs in recent decades, the $1,000 tax rebate will be more than offset by the consequences of reduced growth and new business formation.”[Edited on June 24, 2008 at 2:47 PM. ^^ That excerpt doesn't note what tax bracket she's talking about for marginal tax rate. For people making up to about 250k IIRC, Obama is either near the tax cut that McCain proposes, or cuts your taxes more.
7/15/2008 12:53:14 PM
Moron, why do you try to combat conservatives and the media with facts about Obama's policies?obviously he is Jimmy Carter in a muslim burka that wants to destroy the US economy and castrate the military in every speech he gives.thats just the truth man. i mean if they same 3 users on this board says it is, its gotta be the truth.
7/15/2008 1:37:39 PM
^^, ^ The quote eyedrb posted is correct. Obama wants to raise taxes on capital gains, dividends, incomes over 250K, payrolls, etc. Although you may not think this will affect you, it very well could affect everyone by tanking the economy further.
7/15/2008 1:47:01 PM
I dont think Obama is radical or dangerous, I just plain disagree with most of the things he is platforming on. Unfortunately I'm the same with McCain but I agree with him more than Obama.
7/15/2008 1:52:41 PM
not to mention the moral objection of having an even smaller minority footing the bill. So much for fairness or equality. Although it buys you alot of ignorant votes. "Ill give you this.. and we will make someone else pay for it.. you with me?" YES WE CAN (steal from others)Sorry for the rant. I just hate the attitude, which seems to be spreading, that because someone is successful that YOU have a right to thier property. It also breeds an attitude that the common man doesnt NEED to pull his own.
7/15/2008 1:53:01 PM
That story above is my exact problem with democrats.I work 50 hours a week just so I can have 30% of my salary taken and GIVEN to someone who has screwed their life up. I can barely pay my own bills and pay off my student loans and afford a house, yet my hard earned money is STOLEN from me and given to a welfare queen so she can get the latest iPod. I could be completely debt free right now if I had recieved every cent that had earned. Most of you out there could be debt free if youve worked for a few years because most of you on here are honest, responsible people. but yet, you approve of the government setting you back further and further in debt. Guess what.....if I were out of debt right now and making my full salary, I would gladly donate money to a charity of my choosing....like funding heart research...maybe to cure heart related diseased (which 30% of americans die from each year). both my graddads had heart problems...too bad I can afford to fund them for another 15 years! WAKE UP COLLEGE KIDS....THE GOVERNMENT IS STEALING YOUR MONEY!
7/15/2008 3:11:34 PM
the myth of the Welfare Queen rears her ugly head again.p.s. if you are still a college student, you are getting more benefits from the government than you are paying in. It shouldn't be the ugly welfare queen we are worried about. It should be the ugly student loan queen.
7/15/2008 3:12:44 PM
So your doubting that welfare queens exist? Trust me they do....I worked at dominos during school, delivering pizzas to them every night. They exist, you just have to find them because they have no reason (A JOB) to go outside.Ive been out of school for 2 years.........do you have any idea how fast I could pay a student loan back if I had my full salary? Ill give you a hint, its much much shorter than if I didnt have to pay taxes......wanna know what they look at when you buy a house...a car....a boat...or anything else of value....your debt. You then have to pay a higher interest rate on anything you buy because the bank sees you as more of a risk.[Edited on July 15, 2008 at 3:27 PM. Reason : no]

How do you know those women didn't work or weren't supported by someone who worked? Also, you went to a State school. I don't want to hear a little bitch who went to a taxpayer subsidized school complaining about anything. you didn't even come close to paying what it really costs for you to attend school, nor do you realize how much help was provided to you in terms of the government backing your loans.
