GLEASON SMASH. we must have him.ruuuuuutu works so damn hard, he deserves to be here
6/16/2008 7:05:33 PM
I really like both guys style of play. It makes the Canes a tougher team to play against with both Gleason and Ruutu in the lineup, but if we only keep one, it sure as shit better be Gleason. He could be a key piece of our defense for the next 5+yrs.

Gleason signed 4 years at a 2.75 per year hit.We trade a 5th in 09 for the rights to Darcy Hordichuk, who is an UFA in 11 dayshttp://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=241136&lid=sublink01&lpos=headlines_nhl[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 3:36 PM. Reason : WOOOOOO]

WOOOOOOOOOOOO[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 3:44 PM. Reason : 2.75 is a really good deal isn't it?]
6/19/2008 3:44:07 PM
I think it's a very reasonable amount, esp. for 4 yrs.
6/19/2008 3:44:56 PM
BEAP BEAP for Timmy and for getting a legit enforcer who will patrolling the ice all year long. Sign on the dotted line LaRose and we can put Sutter, Hordichuk, and LaRose together.
6/19/2008 3:46:53 PM
WITH THE CANES?
6/19/2008 4:07:32 PM
you know its slow when people are getting excited about darcy hordichuk
6/19/2008 8:02:38 PM
who is getting excited over him?
6/19/2008 8:04:42 PM
seems we are more excited about Gleason. I think it's nice we have found a needed 4th line guy and someone that will hopefully bring some fight to the team.
6/19/2008 8:11:40 PM
i wasnt meaning it to be a shot at the canes fans i just meant you know its a slow part of the year in hockey
6/19/2008 8:14:07 PM
Darren Dreger says Carolina is looking to acquire Pitkanen and that Cole, Williams, and Ruutu are all candidates for a trade. Bruce Garrioch names Cole, Williams, and Ruutu as well and points out Andrej Meszaros in Ottawa as a point of interest. We expected a trade to go down on draft day last year and it didn't. I think this time we're going to get one.
6/20/2008 7:15:19 AM
trade Cole if any of those 3. As much as he's been a nice part of the team for as long as he's been here, I personally don't like seeing him play hard 30% of the time. Williams is simply better than Cole, and Ruutu should be less expensive this coming year than he was last year, plus he's BAD ASS.
6/20/2008 7:23:21 AM
lol [agree]
6/20/2008 7:58:16 AM
I put 0 stock in anything Eklund ever craps out, but I guess it's worth noting that he has posted Ruutu to Edmonton. Tuomo I'm assuming.
6/20/2008 1:08:53 PM
WITH THE CANES????
6/20/2008 1:09:47 PM
so by the transitive property, we get pitkanen for ladd?what are edmonton's picks like? Edmonton seems to covet Erik Cole, it'd be nice to get Pitkanen + picks, but I'm a greedy bastard.plus, isn't pitkanen getting PAID?[Edited on June 20, 2008 at 1:26 PM. Reason : it would be nice, pitkanen is much better than jm liles...I just don't have a good feeling about him]
6/20/2008 1:14:17 PM
^ Yeah, probably so. Also they shit all their picks out to Anaheim for the Penner offer sheet
6/20/2008 1:20:31 PM
Williams has to stay. Cole can go any time JR likes. Ruutu I wouldn't like to see go, but for a quality defenseman I have no problem with it.
6/20/2008 1:56:14 PM
The more I read about this Hordichuk character, esp. comments that he has about himself and his ablility, the more I like him already.
6/20/2008 5:07:36 PM
Every hockey team needs a dude named Darcy.
6/20/2008 5:10:43 PM
except for the good ones

TSN teasing Bieksa to Carolina
6/20/2008 8:59:07 PM
#14 - Carolina - Zach Boychuk - CenterComparable: Jason BlakeFrom TSN: A diminutive but highly athletic offensive minded forward with explosive acceleration, Boychuk could slide a little because of the size factor but it's hard to believe that slide could be too far. From NHL Central Scouting: Zach is a skilled, see the ice type forward. He quarterbacks the power-play and might be the best two-step quickness guy in all of junior hockey. In two steps he is at top speed and he can hit the brakes and delay the play with the best of them as well.
