surprised nobody else has mentioned the major change from the book of the death scene that was mentioned at the end of page 4 (sorry for the run-on sentence there). i was very surprised they took out that harry was under the cloak and immobilised by dumbledore which gave malfoy a chance to disarm. just seems much weaker that dumbledore made him "promise" to just chill and harry actually did it.

SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE

Have they even shown Bill a single time in the movies? They mention him a lot but we've never seen him. Also, they made it too obvious about RAB and Snape's true intentions.and btw:

in the book iirc, snape doesn't step in until draco hesitates, i don't remember him calling draco off just so he could do it himself
7/18/2009 11:25:07 AM
yeah and werent they outside the castle ?
7/18/2009 11:26:00 AM
maybe this isn't the right place to ask, but explain to me why draco is still considered owner of the special wand and not snape in book 7
7/18/2009 11:28:08 AM
i was trying to recall the details of that situation while i was watching the movie. i think i'm going re-read 6 and 7 soon
7/18/2009 11:29:59 AM
i believe draco gains ownership when he disarms dumbledore when he first walks out there.

in the book, draco hesitates and snape does it. also i remember it saying that they were outside on the balcony and dumbledore's body flew up in the air and over the side down to the ground where he lay motionless and lifeless

I thought it was ok. I fell asleep before that time Harry had to give Dumbledore drinks out of that shell.

I'm just going to copy what I put in another thread:

they're gonna completely fuck up the last book/2 movies

I enjoyed the movie however I felt like the director and screen writers didn't read the books. Just read the back cover and filled in the blanks

It was Pirates of the Caribbean 2 all over again - just a set up for the finally.

honestly, the only things about it that bugged was the serious lack of action at the end and the weird harry/ginny stashing of the book.but, why would you worry about fighting clashing with the end of the hallows? you left it in the 5th movie and it's just as important in this one than that one.

I really enjoyed it and thought they did a great job, especially considering that HBP was my least favorite of the books. I'd actually say it's my second favorite of the movies (behind Azkaban) and am now really happy that Yates will return to do the last 2 movies. A lot of people will probably disagree, but I think it's pretty clear now that Gambon is a far better Dumbledore than Richard Harris. The problem with Harris's Dumbledore is that he just came off as a really nice old man who was going to die soon (because well, he was), whereas with Gambon you also got a sense of how wise and powerful Dumbledore was too. A lot like Ian McKellen's Gandalf actually. Anyway, even though the ending left a little to be desired, great movie overall.

It was ok.Not to oversimply, but that really sums up my feelings after seeing the movie. It didn't wow me, but didn't disappoint me too much either. It was simply ok.
7/20/2009 11:12:38 AM
I cannot begin to describe how this movie brushes over the significance of the events in the plot. But I will try.Example"sirius black gets murderedHarry chases after bellatrix and there is this fantastic chase sequence with the shaky camera showing how enraged harry is and the importance of the death was to him./exampleI got none of that from this movie. It was as if nothing was really that important because we have 2 more movies to do to explain it all anyway. How the fuck do you spend that much time on Ron's worthless girlfriend, how do you not explain any of it!failFAILBring back the director of the order of the phoenix. fuck me

So let me see if I understand you correctly . . .You are saying that the movie is disjointed and almost as hard to follow as the post you just wrote?

saw it tonight with the wife...good points: - Voldemort's cave was spot on - Malfoy's role in the storyline - Harry's Felix Felicis evening - Ron & Hermione's developing relationship (wasn't much in the book, but I liked it)bad points: - uh...no dursleys??? - no detail of the shakeup after TOoTP - the battle of Hogwarts - Ginny's Quidditch tryouts - Dobby? - cut memories - Lavender Brown....WAY TOO MUCH - apparation training - the weasleys' secret "weapons" - how they handled Harry/Dumbledore/Malfoy at the endI liked the movie a lot, and it had been such a long time since I read the book, I forgot all of the things that they dropped.Hopefully, they will start DH1 with the funeral...[Edited on July 24, 2009 at 6:46 AM. hollywood at it's worst. honestly, the effect worked well in OotP. and voldemort is the only one that can fly w/o some sort of aid.

I thought the movie was ok but it seemed like it strayed from the book more so than the other films. I think I want to re read the 6th and 7th because my memory is terrible so I bet I will enjoy them like it was the first time I read them.
