the lesson is don't jump the gun and panic over a rumor until you see something official. all we had was a thread and facebook group to go by and it was all resolved before any official announcement was ever made. thus it never happened.just like i was saying the whole time
2/8/2008 12:03:15 PM
You realize the "panic" as you call it was the main reason Stafford backed down right? Starting at about 7:00pm people starting blowing up phone lines and bombing email boxes...

Quick Question.....does everyone in your group HAVE to be there at check in? Someone in my group is gonna make it, and gonna be there for atleast two check ins, but she can't make it for check in. Does that mean she can't get in, or can she just check in when she gets there??
2/8/2008 12:57:04 PM
It's my understanding that she can just check in when she gets there. In the e-mail they sent out early this morning they said "Someone from your group must claim your pre-assigned camping spots between 5-7pm on Friday at Lee Field." This leads me to believe only one person from your group needs to be there to check-in initially, and then over half your group has to be there at 8 for the first checkpoints and all subsequent checkpoints.

ok, good deal. thanks. i figured that, but i knew they were doing the hand stamp thing and all that new this year, so i wasn't sure

haha. I love how bobby mills still tries to play it off like nothing ever happened.[Edited on February 8, 2008 at 1:21 PM. Reason : ]

All this work by TWW and no mention of it in the newspaper?!
2/8/2008 1:46:50 PM
^^really you should be there for all 4 checkpoints and not just do the bare minimum that is needed to get your ticket . So if you are there for all 4, like you SHOULD be, then you will not get screwed out of a ticket for "camping out". It isnt camping out if you are there once at 8pm for the first check, and then 7 am for the final check, while cheesing in your apartment in the meantime.
2/8/2008 1:58:07 PM
2/8/2008 2:20:43 PM
So there are 4 checkpoints throughout the campout. I am guessing they are spaced out something like 8pm midnight 3am 7am??
2/8/2008 2:22:38 PM
One at checkin, two random ones, and then the one at checkout.

yeah, the upper deck is rarely full, except for the big gamesand where else are they going to go downstairs.. although the SWPC seats seem like they are rarely 100% full
2/8/2008 5:14:56 PM
^^good luck getting that by the Fairness Police -- first argument they're going to make is that a system like that would be "too harsh" for people who were ignorant of the rules ---jbtilley: tickets would only be going to people signed up for Campout even under Stafford's policy -- so half the tickets would be allotted to the subset of folks who signed up and camped out, and the other half would go to people who signed up and never came. Your odds of getting a ticket are under this scenario are actually better if you *don't* show up to Campout -- basically it was done to intentionally sabotage the event---
2/8/2008 6:20:28 PM
ignorant of the rules means you don't care-
2/8/2008 9:35:43 PM
could someone go to the campout as well signup online?
2/8/2008 9:44:37 PM
nice to come inside from the campout. great sullivan lab is right here. SO WARM.
2/8/2008 11:23:55 PM
so im being told ur out if u misss 2. i thought u only nedded to show up for 2
2/8/2008 11:39:53 PM
Well before they even started some groups didn't show so that eliminated 65 people. 280 to get rid of. A lot in my group h ave mad every checkpoint. Shall see.
2/9/2008 3:29:30 AM
Everyone who made 2 checkpoints will get a ticket, assuming they don't get busted by Campus Police doing something stupid before things end (and of course their campsite gets cleaned up before they leave)If my (admittedly faulty) memory serves me correctly, about 300 people didn't show up at all
2/9/2008 4:50:36 AM
they definately did shenanigans. I had a friend planning on arriving at 2am and they squeezed all the checkpoints in by 2 which was not right making her ineligible. there should have been one after 3.
2/9/2008 4:55:17 AM
^2-7 = 5 hours of camp out, which is questionable if they really do deserve a ticket. Also the purpose of getting the checkpoints in before 2 was so that people could actually sleep and not be forced to get up randomly just to say that they are there. Lastly, there is a check point after 3am...it's at 7.
2/9/2008 5:10:59 AM
^ The 7a checkpoint was at 6a, and they didn't check off your names. Only that your group had more than half present...8p, 11:30p, and 2a were the only checkpoints in which they checked your id and did a "present" countThe beginning of it felt like a damn refugee camp, they were throwing out JJ subs and the long lines of people to get in (around 6:45, they died down). Not as good as two years ago... But still was good to do it.[Edited on February 9, 2008 at 6:45 AM. Reason : ^]

2/9/2008 11:41:13 AM
That would be the wrong question. you should be asking if anyone can get the dumbass ticket website to work.
2/9/2008 12:15:45 PM
^I had a problem getting it to work and sent them an email. They suggested not using my bookmark or link from SG to get to ticket website and it worked. Either go to Gopack.com click tickets and then student tickets or go to https://ticketreturn.com/ncsu/
2/9/2008 12:30:14 PM
^ Clutch. Thanks man
2/9/2008 12:36:05 PM
yeah I don't have a ticket either...and apparently have 3 penalties, 1 for a game I went to and another for a game I didn't even get a ticket for, although I still have eligibility of 1 for basketball.
2/9/2008 12:52:22 PM
I can't tell you how glad I am that most of my time at State was spent under the voucher system.
2/9/2008 1:11:13 PM
most likely they're trying to figure out who gets tickets. luckily everyone who camped out should get tickets. At about 4:30am I was told that we were at least 50 tickets under the designated allotment and there's probably even more since I'm sure that at least one group lost theirs for acting like a bunch of drunken idiots around 4:00.And the system was poorly organized. There were a couple lines going in and after I made it through one, I was told that group leaders had to to go the front entrance. Get in and all they did was stamp my hand and ask for unity id. Then to check if the group was there, the entire group had to go to one of 3 people with laptops and say "here" as the person went through the list of people in that group. No scanners or verification that the person was actually there. All they had was a spreadsheet with the group leader's unity id and the member's ids and would mark a 1 beside the people who said they were there. They're probably still trying to tie all of it together.[Edited on February 9, 2008 at 1:14 PM. Reason : ]

ha, we were over in the corner by the entrance closest to lee on the sullivan drive side. It was pretty eventful around 4. Drunken frat guy was walking around their campsite and accidentally tripped over one of the tents causing it to collapse which pissed off the girl inside. Then the guy dropped a chair on one of the other tents and threw a football at another. Another guy managed to piss in a trash can and had to clean it out. Needless to say a girl got pissed and sent the cops over. Also two drunk guys decided to take of the job of monitoring the gate by us and almost had us in tears from laughing so hard. We tried to get them to stamp someone's forehead but they didn't. It was also funny seeing Sarah Yasin chase after people who were trying to sneak though the gate. so who heard the guy slap another guy over his golf team? what was that about?
2/9/2008 3:22:49 PM
i always thought they should have it over in the fairgrounds lot or the stadium lot. In fact in the stadium lot they could just use the numbered spaces and would just have to assign them to groups instead of spending a long time laying out things on the field
2/9/2008 3:24:47 PM
lol. I think that was over beside us where the guy kicked over the tent. Apparently some guy said he had never played golf before or some shit and said he'd beat the golf team. Then a bunch of babbling, not sure what ever happened.

The space was a problem. One of the groups in my quadrant(lack of a better word/description?) only had one space, yet they brought a 10 person tent to take up 2 spaces. Nonetheless, kinda pissed off my group(who had enough that we received/needed two spaces) and the other group that only had one space. Oh well, had some fun. One group near us yelling out quotes from random movies made the time b/t 1-2 bearable
2/9/2008 4:02:18 PM
can someone post a summary of all of this
2/9/2008 4:05:56 PM
the spaces on the sides had more room than they knew what to do w/. it was kindof poorly laid out in that regard.
