Ewan McGregor?Really? He's a fine actor yes, and I do enjoy most of the films that he has been in but he would make a horrible James Bond. They might as well cast Jake Gyllenhall.

about 5 years ago i said Clive Owen would probably make the best Bond out of anyone in the pool. He declined because he didn't want to be defined by the role and lose flexibility in the types of movies he could make. I remember watching Sin City and thinking--Damn he'd be an awesome Bond! But now I'm kinda glad he didn't take the role--not because I dislike the way they've taken the movies, but I don't think he would fit into the way they're trying to make the movies. I'd like to see them improve the current formula than start all over again though. Craig doesn't need to go, but they need to fix what they've done.
11/25/2008 7:36:41 PM
if they revamp the series again they need to do a total overhaul. As in replace Judy Dench with a new M, return Moneypenny and her and James' witty banter, return Q and the creative (yet believable) gadgetry. I think Clive Owen would be a great Bond.

I still like the new BondI just didn't like the new Bond movienot enough plot, way too many chase scenes (a plane chase scene, really?) and not enough of Bond just being a pimp with quick wit and shit. The writers blewwwwwww itttttt
11/26/2008 9:38:24 PM
fuck shaky cam. Anyone who uses it should be shot.
11/26/2008 10:02:25 PM
Daniel Craig is a great Bond he can't help that they fucked up the movieI seriously can't see anyone else in the role after this
11/27/2008 1:54:55 AM
I haven't seen this movie yet. What's the consensus? Yay or nay?
11/27/2008 6:07:21 AM
^ not a terrible movie, but no where near as good as casino royale
11/27/2008 9:03:24 AM
Watch it with the mindset that:(1) It immediately follows Casino Royale (which it does). Re-watch Casino Royale before you go.(2) There's more to follow, i.e. the story isn't over.Don't expect a self-contained Bond movie like you've seen in the past.
11/27/2008 9:11:49 AM
an excellent film for the thinker.... not so great for the passive watcher. And I thought that Russian chic was a proper sidekick for this movie, her eyes were amazing....
11/28/2008 12:33:25 AM
^^Having a different mindset doesn't fix terrible writing.^Are you kidding me? You have it backwards. Movie's perfect for the casual moviegoer who doesn't give a fuck about a good story.Terrible for people that will actually think about what they are seeing and recognize the god-awful writing.[Edited on November 28, 2008 at 12:39 AM. I'm sorry but Judy Dench rocks. And I'm not making any decision on bond till the next one, I think he'll be more bondish in the next film because he is finally BOND... hence the closing gun barrel scene.

^I'm a die hard 007 fan and have seen every single film numerous times. And I love the new DC ones.Hell, just saw Quantum of Solace for the 2nd time this weekend, still rocked!
12/1/2008 1:59:21 PM
I am a big 007 fan. I like the the new ideas and new wave of Bond. To me and to others I hang with who enjoy Bond we all feel that it is a good new wave of Bond movies. I definitely fee it has a different style and edge, but why not change the style and have leeway here and there with different thoughts. III
12/1/2008 5:40:39 PM
I liked it, but it was a lot like the Bourne movies in that there is an excess of thoughtless killing and slaughter. Bourne had more of a streamlined plot that continued to unravel as the movie progresses, where as Solace pulled the very predictable theme of the "rouge" agent that is loyal to his country but does it his own way. Bourne can pull this off because he does not have any agency ties, but it is hard to believe that Bond can play the rouge agent without being held accountable in the end.The creepy part of the last scene was how he basically coached someone through an execution. Since when was Bond that ruthless?
12/3/2008 12:00:17 AM
I saw it this past Saturday and liked it. The ending was a little blah and it should be interesting to see where they go with it next movie. White is still alive and kicking and we never really got that much information about Quantum...On a happy note, Olga Kurylenko was so hot in this movie...
12/3/2008 12:05:22 AM
Not very impressed. It was a so-so action movie, reminded me of a Transporter movie more than a James Bond movie.
12/3/2008 12:14:11 AM
no Q or Q-like person - what kind of bullshit is that - the touchscreen table didn't make up for the lack of new toys
12/3/2008 10:11:01 AM
It's a different kind of Bond. Yes.. he doesn't have the all-in-one toothbrush with built in cloaking device and laser beam. Accept the movie for what it is. Get over it.
12/3/2008 1:23:14 PM
AND HIS ASTON MARTIN WASN'T INVISIBLE IN THIS ONE!!! WTF?!?!?!
12/3/2008 1:27:02 PM
^ok so you and some others dont care for the traditions of 007then answer me this, if they decided to make a movie with virtually no resemblance of a bond movie, then why call it a bond moviewhy not start a new franchiseits like making a jurrasic park 5, except instead of having dinosaurs it would be about a girls comming of age story

^^agreed. My favorite fight scene is the very first in CR. the B&W one in the men's room.I still have a little trouble with things like running up cranes and swinging around upside down from a rope.
12/4/2008 8:53:02 AM
I really really liked this movieThe only thing I didnt like was the opening song. total crapLoved how you could see bond evolving into the smooth operator that he is supposed to be. Still a little rough around the edges but getting to badass bond. Will own along with CR
12/6/2008 1:06:13 AM
Big Lots is having almost all of the 007 DVDs for $4. I found almost all of Roger Moores, almost all of Pierce Brosnan, a few of Timothy Dalton, and the one George Lazenby film. No Sean Connery in the Big Lots on Western when I checked. And none of the current Daniel Craig ones.I got them for my brother, upgrading him from some of his VHS Just. Putting this out there. Heh.
12/6/2008 10:23:08 AM
finally saw this online, it was awsomeway better than casino royal, in fact this was more of a bond movie than CR, but still needs some work but i give it a thumbs up

So I bought the first two sets of Bond on Blu-Ray... does anyone know when the others will be coming out? Sometime in '09 I hope. The first two boxed sets are:Dr. NoLive and Let DieDie Another DieFor Your Eyes OnlyFrom Russia With Love -> the best Bond movie of all time IMOThunderball[Edited on December 13, 2008 at 9:37 PM. I had little to no idea WTF was going on most of the time. Good action (except for the shaky cam at the beginning), but too confusing. I still like Craig though.[Edited on December 13, 2008 at 11:16 PM. Reason : .]
12/13/2008 11:14:54 PM
I really didnt have that much trouble following what was going on. Watching CR beforehand would have been nice but I didnt feel it was necessary after the fact.I, too, like daniel craig as bond
12/13/2008 11:23:56 PM
i think its similar to some other bond movies where they find a thread or person, follow that guy up the food chain. so you dont really dont know whats going on to the end.
