Spread the word that he and potentially Wall will be at the game tomorrow. The last thing we need is to get the shit beaten out of us and have people yelling shit at the coach and booing the team with these 2 sitting behind the bench. Its one thing to lose, but dont fucking embarass us in front of these kids.
2/29/2008 10:39:01 AM
hopefully the team doesn't embarrass us.i lold last game thinking about if there had been any recruits there. they would have given us an immediate "no." between how terrible our team played, sid's coaching, the spattered booing and screaming at sidney, and the freaking chic fil a cows dancing at halftime....it was a dadgom circus in there.
2/29/2008 11:01:46 AM
I actually think if Wall sees a game where we just suck it up it'll help us. He's gotta look at our roster/games and know he'll get immediate PT as a freshman, if not start. We need a 'creating' PG in the worst way. Javi is getting better, but as for now, he's not much of a 'drive and kick' type player. He passes it around the 3 pt line, but won't go to the hole to create anything. Degand was much better at this, albeit not that great at itWe need someone who if passing around isn't working, can drive in and either hit a floater or draw some defenders and dump it to Hickson/Smith/McCauley/Costner underneath[Edited on February 29, 2008 at 11:22 AM. 2/29/2008 11:21:10 AM
yeah and it's ridiculous too because javi is so quick. there's at least five times a game where he noticeably beats his defender off the dribble but then stops instead of taking it to the hoop or getting a sweet assist (ala fergy last game lol). i guess it's because once he gets into the paint he's usually clueless as to what to do next.but yeah hopefully john wall likes immediate pt.

Someone at least get the wolfpack club to announce at distribution tomorrow that the students sitting behind the bench need to watch their mouths. The kid is coming with his mom. IMO this is a huge day for us because we can likely get a commit from Brown WAY before wall or anyone else, so he could get the ball rolling for us. I don't think we need to win tomorrow, but we need to play hard and our fans need to keep their mouths shut behind the bench (if they have something to say to sidney. The usual "FUCK D00k" is ok by me)[Edited on February 29, 2008 at 11:31 AM. Reason : ]

Brown/Wall could/would be the greatest backcourt since Corchiani/Monroe.PLZ TO COME!
2/29/2008 11:53:23 AM
students really need to get on this one.... Brown and Wall going to be in the house. Atleast Brown will definitely be there. I imagine Wall will tag along with CJ Leslie as usual.Lorenzo Brown profile -- http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=2430536

3/1/2008 6:03:24 PM

3/1/2008 6:15:24 PM
Yeah, if they were at this game they had to have been mad impressed.Crowd was very active, great game, etc.
3/1/2008 6:44:38 PM
I know Brown was at the game, along with Kelly. Not sure about anyone else.

A perfect example of the impact one recruit can have on a basketball program's fortunes is Illinois. They had a verbal commitment from Eric Gordon, but he backed out of it and signed with Indiana instead. Indiana's overall record is 24-4, and 13-2 in the conference making them a game out of a 3 way tie for 1st place with Purdue (23-6, 14-2) and Wisconsin (24-4, 14-2). Illinois, a program that was just in the 2005 National Championship game and ended the season with a 37-2 record, tying the NCAA record for most wins in a season, has an overall record of 12-17 and a conference record of 4-12. They are second to last in the Big Ten standings. And it's not like the Big Ten is all that great of a conference anyways.I hope Wall and Brown were impressed. That's the way we should have been playing all year. Maybe we can go all New York Giants with this loss and go on a tear all the way to the ACC Championship! To be fair, Bruce Weber is a terrible coach. He could turn gold in to shit.

Sometimes you get lucky in recruiting. taking over the players Bill Self recruited...I maintain that Weber is terrible... He has completely ruined all that Self did.[Edited on March 2, 2008 at 3:44 PM. Reason : x]

anyone have access to the wolfpacker story on Brown's recruitment? if so, what did it say about our chances?

just from the title and the fact he just visited here, i would guess that we are his current leader

Shit... Memphis? If ever there was a time for us to open up the checkbook and raise payroll again, this is it. I mean, you know that Cal is going to give him a nice signing bonus... Brown and Wall are crucial...[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 10:00 PM. Reason : x]

I say we take the Roy Williams approach. Not actually give anything to the recruits while they are playing here, but allow boosters to give them "graduation gifts" after they are done here.[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 10:07 PM. Reason : m]
3/3/2008 10:07:40 PM
Fuck Memphis. If this kid is a competitor he'll come to State. Starting recruiting right now, I wouldn't take one damn person on their team with maybe the exception of Rose. They're not that good, Calipari is not a good coach, and you saw him get exposed by another poorly coached team in Tennessee. They even struggle to beat shitty teams in their own fucking conference, which is terrible. I'm not saying we're better than memphis. Quite the opposite. They have great players, but I will argue that Sidney could do MUCH more with the same amount of talent they currently have. Thats playground ball they play. Same with Tenn. **disclaimer** I in no way think that Tenn and Memphis are bad teams, but after watching that game last weekend, you see what I'm talking about. Neither team has any half court offense, they take stupid shots on nearly every posession.....but they also have some GREAT players that play hard which makes up for a lot.
3/3/2008 10:10:54 PM
damn, isn't Memphis high on Wall's list too? I just don't get it. Memphis is almost like a cop-out. Go there if you want to be top 5 because you hardly play anybody worth a damn. 30+ wins guaranteed. I would almost rather them pick UNC instead, almost.
3/3/2008 10:12:22 PM
haahah wtf, theyve lost 1 game, right? i gave up reading the rest of what you were talking about
3/3/2008 10:12:47 PM

3/3/2008 10:17:27 PM
Calipari is a GREAT coach... just a slimeball too, though. As far as Rose being the only player I'd want... well, I'd take CDR over anyone on our roster and anyone who has played for us other than Hodge the last decade...V Memphis had an awesome OOC schedule... though if UConn plays them now and not at the beginning of the year, they win. I fully believe that.[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 10:20 PM. Reason : x]
3/3/2008 10:18:41 PM
Basically I said memphis hasn't played anyone worth a fuck when tenn and memphis played each other, neither team looked good. They just jacked up 3's, ran fast breaks, and played 1 on 1. Street ball. You get the point.^I disagree on Cal being a great coach. He's had some GREAT players, and getting them is part of coaching, but as far as x's and o's, he has never impressed me, and 2 weekends ago confirmed it again. That was my only point. [Edited on March 3, 2008 at 10:21 PM. Reason : not knocking the guy's ability to get talent. ]
3/3/2008 10:19:27 PM
so whats your definition of being a great coach? having a better than .750 winning percentage?
3/3/2008 10:24:05 PM
ya know, typically when 2 really good teams play each other, the quality of the game is diluted a bit because of said talent. i think thats probably what happened in memphis v tennessee
3/3/2008 10:27:14 PM
I just can't see how good of a coach he is if his team is 311 out of 313 teams in the nation in free throw shooting. I mean, that's pathetic. He must have known by January that it would come back to bite him, which it did. How does a team with that much talent shoot 59% as a team?
3/3/2008 10:28:35 PM
^basicallyMemphis is solid but they wont win shit if they shoot 50% from the FT lineAt any rate I hope memphis does not get brown and wall. We need them more than he does [Edited on March 3, 2008 at 10:30 PM. Reason : slow]
3/3/2008 10:29:21 PM
Having a team that doesn't play like a bunch of goons. Look, I'm not trying to start shit here. Look at the facts. Calipari has had some ridiculous talent come through everywhere he's coached. Is that part of the equation? yes. Do I wish we could have that same thing here? yes. At the same time, do I think he can hang on a daily basis with coaches in the ACC or Big East given the same amount of talent? I guess we dont know, but I'm guessing no. (or on the other hand, do I think we can get those players into school here or anywhere else in the ACC? fuck no)
3/3/2008 10:29:45 PM
wow, that free throw shooting sure has cost them a whole lot of games this year...i wish we had a free throw problem team that only lost once...
3/3/2008 10:29:49 PM
3/3/2008 10:35:41 PM
^^We're not knocking Memphis being a great team, we just question Cal's ability to coach. A good coach would demand better free throw shooting, period. It's a HUGE part of the game.
3/3/2008 10:42:06 PM
UConn won the National Championship in '04 shooting 62% from the line. Some teams are GREAT teams but don't shoot FTs well... it happens.
3/3/2008 10:43:21 PM
i dont consider a coach terrible at coaching cause his teams dont shoot FTs well...thats absurd
