according to nbadraft.net, hickson is slated to go late in the 1st in the 09 draft
2/25/2008 3:29:50 PM
yeah most mock drafts have him going first round...many in the first round ahead of sacko t....lots of them have lawson going in the 12-15 range...course that assumes that all 3 of those underclassmen go pro
2/25/2008 3:48:35 PM
I wasn't trying to turn this into another 'fire lowe' thread. But you guys are idiots if you think Hickson is the issue with this team. If Sid can't figure out how to get these guys to play together and win its his fault. But some of you guys want to get rid of the team's best player. Makes no sense.
2/25/2008 5:27:05 PM
http://www.wral.com/sports/story/2489424/i don't see him projected as a lottery pick anywhere though[Edited on February 26, 2008 at 3:16 PM. Reason : ..]
2/26/2008 3:12:46 PM
i see him transfering from our lousy team before going pro, i think that he feels like he does not have the experience yet and obviously doesnt know how to play with our players.... If he leaves it will be for another school not for the pros
2/26/2008 3:21:12 PM
^You really think he's willing to sit out a year to go to another college team than to declare early for the NBA draft. You're crazy. It's either here next year or the draft.
2/26/2008 3:26:28 PM
can someone revoke mattdup's sports talk posting rightsanyone who thinks that clearly doesnt know shit
2/26/2008 3:30:08 PM
^agreed.hickson transferring? seriously?
2/26/2008 3:39:13 PM
ahha, you guys will love this:
2/26/2008 3:39:35 PM
Ha..hahahahaha! Apparently mattdup knew something we didn't.
2/26/2008 3:43:03 PM
^Austin, go do your homework.

2/26/2008 3:46:24 PM
Just checkin in on former students.
2/26/2008 3:47:12 PM
no seriously, i have talked to some of our players and they have said that he has mentioned it to them... not around sid of course but I think he knows he's not good enough for the pros, he doesnt want to be the next simmons
2/26/2008 3:48:38 PM
"not around sid of course"?why would he be afraid to tell his coach that he doesn't want to go pro? GET OUT!
2/26/2008 3:53:06 PM
I don't know who you are, but unless you're a student team manager on the team, I doubt any of our guys would tell a normal everyday student about private matters within the team. Hell, I just saw a couple of girls chase JJ across the street in front of my car today and he didn't seem to interested. Why would he transfer and sit out a year, if he could just as easily go to the pros????[Edited on February 26, 2008 at 3:54 PM. Reason : Sorry, I'm feeding the troll.]
2/26/2008 3:53:39 PM
transfering, not going pro... i think it was just brought up and he said it wasnt out of the question
2/26/2008 3:54:48 PM
he might not just as easily go to the pros..
2/26/2008 3:55:58 PM
2/26/2008 5:43:58 PM
in that case that website has about as much credebility as i do.... haha
2/26/2008 6:13:33 PM
You are a terrible troll mattdup. You can't get a single person to take you seriously.
2/26/2008 6:15:00 PM
Hickson was a one and done guy the moment he stepped foot in Raleigh. This isn't surprising.
2/26/2008 6:56:55 PM
2/26/2008 7:01:57 PM
He wants to leave. It's just a matter of where he projects in the draft.
2/26/2008 7:23:33 PM
Hansbrough was a one and done guy the moment he stepped on UNC-CH's campusoh wait
2/26/2008 7:30:17 PM
costner...best of the 0 star prospects!
2/26/2008 7:33:13 PM
hickson does "nba style" workouts every morning at 6am.his main goal in life is to be in the nba.nc state is under performing.in my mind (granted just an opinion), hickson's fate rests with john wall. if wall comes here, i think he stays. if not, HE GONE.
2/26/2008 7:43:20 PM
wow guys, get defensive on JCTarheel. he's absolutely correct, hickson is gone.
2/26/2008 8:02:15 PM
2/26/2008 8:11:51 PM
someone show me a board where's projected to be a lottery pick? anyone?
2/26/2008 8:14:21 PM
2/26/2008 8:26:10 PM
^yeah i forgot wall was just a junior
2/26/2008 9:14:03 PM
i wanna see him foul out just once this year...a starting center who doesn't foul out at least once all season is missing something defensively
2/26/2008 9:33:00 PM
^ That's because most of the time, he's so far out of position, he can't make the foul.
2/27/2008 8:02:48 AM
ya he's pretty much gone[Edited on February 27, 2008 at 10:48 AM. Reason : .]
2/27/2008 10:48:18 AM
nahnot if listens to the right people. too much better talent in this draft for him to go in round 1
2/27/2008 1:10:41 PM
there's an interview with jj on wral.com and he's talking about where our troubles are coming recently. he says that it's just players not executing and not focusing in end of game situations...just a few plays here and there.... not sure what sidney is telling these guys or if jj just ain't listening but that's definitely not the major problem wit this team.he also talks about going pro, and of course he's not going to tell the media anything of any substance, but he did say he'll sit down with his coaches and family and decide what's best, that while the nba is where he ultimately wants to be, that it's not going anywhere, and that he wouldn't mind coming back for another year to ncsu.
2/27/2008 1:19:18 PM
^ reminds me about what Chuck was saying during his last season. He kept saying how close we were to winning games. But this team is worse. Chuck was losing close games to bad ACC teams. We're getting blown out.I thought from the beginning that JJ would stay at least 2 years based on the fact that he was a borderline 1st rounder. Unless he dominated the ACC and moved up to everyone's top 10 in the draft. But I didn't count on the team sucking so bad that he would want to leave like a rat on a sinking ship. Why stick around for more beatdowns from UVA and missing the NIT next year?
2/27/2008 1:41:05 PM
b/c sidney has em thinking they'll be acc champs next year. he's always pointing out those positives.
2/27/2008 1:47:23 PM
2/27/2008 3:27:47 PM
we could be acc (tourney) champs this yearas much as i hate this team's shitty performance this year, its still basketball...you know, the one major college sport that actually has a good postseason
2/27/2008 3:30:58 PM
2/27/2008 3:37:38 PM
Unless you are going to fail out of school, your family is completely fucking broke, there are NCAA violations coming, or you get in a fist fight with your coach...you do not leave school after your freshmen year to be a late 1st round/early 2nd round pick if you have the potential to be a lottery pick by staying an extra year or two. It's really that simple. Cedric Simmons shouldn't have left, but he had the possibility of being a lottery pick. Josh Powell either had issues with Herb or had family troubles (or both). Unless I'm missing something, JJ has none of those problems and is a borderline first round pick right now. He would be retarded to leave...and right now I don't think he will.
2/27/2008 3:49:13 PM
^^i didnt say we WOULDbut the FACT still is, State, Virginia, Florida State, etc, all still COULD win the TOURNEY this yearbut that post was more of a knock on the BCS than anything else

So IF he comes back, how the hell are we going to get this team to play together?
2/29/2008 11:46:28 AM
^I don't know...but Sid better figure it out. You don't give up on one of the best big men in the ACC next year just because your coach can't figure out how to use him.
