http://www.homemediamagazine.com/news/html/breaking_article.cfm?sec_id=2&&article_ID=11439So in the week Transformers was released, the Blu-ray/HD DVD sales ratio was 51:49 in Blu-ray's favor. Basically 50/50 if you consider margin of error, and considering the week before it was 71:29, obviously Transformers made a big difference.Carry on.
10/26/2007 12:36:14 PM
^^ dude fucking a. i will highly consider that at that price.

Sony Pictures is Columbia Pictures. Walt Disney is Pixar (again). That's a lot of movies you haven't seen, sir.
10/26/2007 5:42:28 PM
I've seen everything pixar that i'd want to see. Disney is going down the drain...they have been for some time. Pirates was their life raft for a while. And just because they say 'exclusive to blu ray' doesn't mean its not on regular DVD. so not being able to see the movie is a really stupid point.
10/26/2007 5:48:43 PM
which one of you retards is going to tell me when gt5 comes out on the ps3ive asked 3 fucking times
10/26/2007 6:17:16 PM
GT5 will be released in Japan December 13, IIRC.Golovko, your argument fails on so many levels. By denouncing Blu-ray exclusives, you also denounce HD DVD exclusives.
10/26/2007 7:03:37 PM
i thought it was obvious he just elaborated on Shrikes original arguement in an attempt to troll
10/26/2007 7:09:07 PM
^^who the fuck cares about exclusives. If i can't get it on HD DVD i can get it on wmv-hd that plays on the xbox 360.
10/26/2007 8:25:41 PM
I want HD-DVD to win just because of all the Sony equipment that has pissed me off over the years. Car head unit that needs a proprietary controller, equipment that is overpriced and under featured, all the proprietary formats (MemoryStick, Minidisc, Betamax, etc.) , and other things.I like their HD Trinitron TVs, but dammit, they should always loose the format wars.
10/28/2007 3:21:51 AM
yay for loose format wars!
10/28/2007 7:27:09 AM
yay for loose women!

I just bought the 360 add-on the other day.. got the King Kong movie inside.. two free movies with purchase.. along with a free copy of Heroes Season 1 and the mail-in 5 free movies to go along with it.. The movies I get are valued more than the player itself.
10/28/2007 9:53:00 AM
I'll probably end up getting the blu ray very soon anyway...and years from now it will end up just like our family betamax.
10/28/2007 11:22:07 AM
10/28/2007 11:58:56 AM
Heroes promotion is over.. that was one of those week-only Bestbuy things.. the 2 free ones I believe is also Bestbuy, but it's any hd-dvd that's $34.99 or less. This is also true for any Toshiba player, but I don't think King Kong is packaged with those, and the 5 free dvds is any store, but the selection is limited (http://assets.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/hddvd/Xbox360_HDDVDOffer.pdf)
10/28/2007 1:35:12 PM
Just fyi, the HD-A2 is currently $197.99 (or something very close) at Circuit City and the HD-A20 is $349.
10/28/2007 3:18:46 PM
imho, unless Blu-ray players drop below $400 before holiday season, we could see the winning move here with a sub $200 HD DVD player, I think people will hop on this real quick considering HD TV's was one of the hottest items for holiday buyers last year, granted only 20% knew how to hook them up.
10/28/2007 6:44:56 PM
but the PS3 is like OMG TEH WINZ! plus blu ray out sells hd dvd 100:1
10/28/2007 6:49:39 PM
No consumer is going to settle for 1080i!!11one!!1[Edited on October 28, 2007 at 7:00 PM. Reason : Quinn]

i know you're being sarcastic, but seriously, most of the general population bought 720p & 1080i TV's last year for Christmas`[Edited on October 28, 2007 at 8:34 PM. Reason : ,]
10/28/2007 8:33:34 PM
they dont even know they have a 1080i tv...they just know its hi-def and is better picture quality than their old tvs
10/28/2007 8:35:26 PM
yeah, pretty much. one of those details people read later and go "oh, did we get that with our TV? oh, i guess not.". last christmas was when they pushed out all of the 1080i models off the floor to make room for 1080p, which were the new thing fall 2006.
10/28/2007 10:31:40 PM
It's not like they'd notice the difference anyway.
10/28/2007 11:14:40 PM
interlacing is a lot more apparent in CRTs
10/28/2007 11:31:29 PM
goto spoofee...Xbox 360 HD player for $165 plus 7 movies after rebate
10/29/2007 7:29:01 AM
+ $350+ for the xbox360 to begin with.... sooo, $515?....
10/29/2007 8:39:15 AM
You do realize that they now make a 360 with HDMI out that costs $280, right?
10/29/2007 9:06:39 AM
^^incase you forgot. 360's have been on sale for a long long time now. So there is already an enormous xbox360 user base that can help drive up HD DVD sales by buying the HD DVD player add-on. FAILnot to mention the new xbox360 people that ^ mentioned.[Edited on October 29, 2007 at 9:40 AM. Reason : .]

i wonder if a 360 would overheat playing a movie.
10/29/2007 10:14:51 AM
I wonder.
10/29/2007 11:33:28 AM
i'd rather take my chances on a system that might die because it has ALL the best games on it that are out, than some late blooming system that may never fulfill my gaming need in terms of excellent games. so there i said it now what?! i think both systems are hot in all honesty, but the ps3 is severely lacking on the game shelf. the wii is not even a comparison with games like cooking mama, hahaha.[Edited on October 29, 2007 at 11:40 AM. blu ray players might be affordable to him since he makes $texas but to the average consumer $500 for a DVD player is not affordable.
