^^ Me too. It's a catch-22. They couldn't ignore the deaths, they canceled the show. If they didn't have people saying how upset and sad they were about the deaths, it would be inconsiderate and McMahon would be seen as ungrateful for disregarding his talent that gave so much to him over the years just to cover his ass for a murder charge that didn't exist yet. If they did run a tribute and Benoit murdered two people, than they would get criticism they're getting now. WWE is going to get plenty of criticism in the coming days, some deserved. The tribute show not knowing what had happened is not one of them.[Edited on June 26, 2007 at 10:32 PM. Reason : .]

Yeah, I mean it was scheduled for to be a tribute show, they just had to change whom they were memorializing at the last minute. To me at the time it was a move that made the most sense, business wise. Had the information that we have now been made earlier I am sure the WWE would have taken an alternative route. I mean what business would willingly make a tribute to a known murderer.

WWE has his text messages on their website:Text Message 1 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215” Text Message 2 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone“The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open”Text Message 3 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:54am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”Text Message 4 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:55am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.Fayetteville Georgia. 30215"Text Message 5 to one co-worker (sent 6/24 at 3:58am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone“My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Does anyone blame the WWE for showing the tribute stuff?
6/27/2007 12:04:42 AM
He texted a bunch of people his address and nobody thought to actually go to the house?
6/27/2007 12:19:36 AM
I think it was kind of stupid. It wasn't a cut and dry car accident or anything... it was an unsolved crime scene with sketch details. IMO, they should've cancelled RAW altogether, waited to get all the facts, and then acted accordingly.
6/27/2007 12:21:10 AM
They're in the business of wrestling, not investigation. They had an opportunity to do something to show their support as well as some old school footage, so they did. I don't expect my District Attorney to lay down a people's elbow, so I don't expect my wrestlers to follow any due diligence in regard to investigating.
6/27/2007 12:37:15 AM
^^^ They were in Texas, he was in Georgia. The WWE called the local cops to go to the house as a courtesy call.^^ They did cancel Raw. USA was not going to show a black screen for 3 hours on primetime Monday night with 2 hours lead time though. McMahon was screwed with any decision he did as I stated above IMO.[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 12:39 AM. Reason : .]

Yeah maybe... but it kind of sucks people had to sit through "he was the best guy in the world" crap. They could've reaired last week's RAW, some kind of highlight video, or even just old Benoit matches wouldn't have been that bad. It was all the personal emotional stuff that actually made me feel sorry for the guy that pisses me off.
6/27/2007 12:46:22 AM
people had to sit through it when he still was "the best guy in the world"before 10:30 no one had any idea what happened and i guarantee you people weren't sitting there watching tv saying, "i bet he killed them all"
6/27/2007 12:59:07 AM
As I said in the Sports Talk thread, this is the wrestling equivalent of someone like Brett Favre committing these acts...it's out of left field, because he was professional and respectable above all else. No matter how awful the situation is, it's going to be more perplexing than anything to the people who cared about Benoit.Anyway, it was nice of Elijah Burke and CM Punk to throw in a Benoit/Malenko pinning and bridge combination at the end of their match tonight.

^ Yokozuna's heart could not support his weight IIRC. The man couldn't have taken steroids just cause he never looked close to being "ripped".edit:
6/27/2007 1:13:30 PM
yeah there are some names on there that I didnt know were even deadwow
6/27/2007 1:41:27 PM
^ Steroids don't necessarily make you ripped. They just get you BIG. Zuna probably wasn't on it though, but who knows.
6/27/2007 1:50:12 PM
remember when Lex Luger body slammed Yokozuna on the aircraft carrier. hahaha good memoriesi'm suprised luger and scott steiner haven't bit the bullet, but i'm sure they will. And i remember very clearly when Davey Boy Smith died. for the longest while they thought foul play was involved.
6/27/2007 1:57:30 PM
Luger was with Miss Elizabeth when she had her fatal cocaine overdose, btw
6/27/2007 3:52:11 PM
^ I was in love with Ms. Elizabeth, I would have fought macho man to the death. III
6/27/2007 4:05:55 PM
Scott Steiner cracks me up. I remember when he was in the steiner brothers he was a body builder, but he wasn't a beast really. When he became "Big Poppa Pump" and those freaking biceps were just absolutely absurd. I heard at one point they got too heavy for his bones and ones of them became disconnected or something. All those steroids man.Kinda how Bonds wasn't that huge when he first started out, and then just blew up.
6/27/2007 4:22:55 PM
yeah didnt he have to change his finishing move from the frankensteiner to something else that didnt require as much leaping agility?
6/27/2007 4:24:15 PM
^^ When Steiner was with Buff Bagwell opening up WCW Nitro "back in the day", I remember the crowd used to chant "Sterrrrrrrrr-roids!" at him.
6/27/2007 4:32:33 PM
^^He used to do the Frankensteiner, which was basically a hurricanrana (sp?) I think...then he had to just do the Steiner Recliner, which was just some stupid submission hold...he may have always done the Recliner, but at least he would do it after the Frankensteiner[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 4:46 PM. 6/27/2007 4:45:27 PM
Disgusting good god
6/27/2007 4:46:54 PM
Scott Steiner just got injured in a wrestling ring btw. Rick Steiner and Animal are still alive.Animal's son is a starting linebacker for Ohio State (James Laurinaitis).
