Gronke was awesome last night as our bands singer. I finally tried playing drums for a few songs and I sucked really really bad.
11/22/2007 12:44:18 PM
it should be obvious because there's no buttons on the microphone!
11/22/2007 4:14:02 PM
fun as hell
11/22/2007 4:39:40 PM
i'm playing singer now, because i lack all musical coordination. i can follow it just fine on the screen, but can't seem to get my hands or feet to cooperate. my dilemma is that i can't sing low enough for some of the songs... that's when my hubby has to play guitar AND sing
11/22/2007 9:23:10 PM
^can't you do octaves up/down? or is that detected wrong?
11/22/2007 9:53:40 PM
you can hum the entire songs, atleast on medium and get 95%
11/22/2007 11:18:21 PM
i banned my friend from the drums cause he hits the fuck out of emhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ9XLiMfBRoi made this video myself. i was ashy and dorky that morning[Edited on November 23, 2007 at 7:46 AM. Reason : .]

i'm pissed off at the bass pedal. i can't press it fast enough. on parts where you have to double- and triple-tap the bass pedal, i completely bomb it. the actual drumming is easy enough. maybe i should stop playing on expert.
11/24/2007 4:54:36 AM
i just thought about it...rock band needs some Zack Attack jointsso i can go all slater on the drums
11/24/2007 11:01:06 AM
My buddy got this and we were playing these past two days. We had to get my cousin over to sing for us yesterday because he can actually sing. We had experted a few songs all of us, me on guitar, my buddy on base, cousin singing and younger brother on drums. It was the Nirvana song and the Weezer song. However later everyone dropped down to the Coheed and Cambria song Welcome home. I think everyone was on hard or medium and my cousin sang it on expert never failed. It's an awesome game. I will be picking it up in February on the Wii when it comes out.
11/24/2007 11:53:26 AM
whered you see it was comin out for the wii in february?
11/24/2007 12:57:47 PM
11/24/2007 7:37:07 PM
I'd like to try the drum part on the hardest song on the hardest setting...and ace it the first time.I hope video games don't continue in this direction...why not actually learn to play music? If it's fun to pretend, I guarantee it's 1000 times more fun to actually do it.
11/24/2007 8:03:56 PM
^From what I read, if you can play the song on expert on drums, then you can technically play the actual song. But that's just what I read in an article. So if that's actually the case, then yeah I could see it being a good way to actually learn the music. But I know it doesn't work like that for the guitar of course.
11/24/2007 8:32:50 PM
^in the case of the guitar it takes far less talent to play the game than the real thing.whille the drums are still a ways off from the real thing, its getting closer.i would like it better if these games actually taught you to play a real instrument. i knoe the xbox 360 and ps3 have the computational power to accomplish this.
11/24/2007 8:39:57 PM
^yeah why not, just have a little amplifier input for the game and play a real guitar, the game could run fast fourier transforms to grade you on the frequencies...it could basically have scrolling guitar tabulature and lots of little lessons and stuff and you could actually pick up an instrument playing the game, I could see that as a great interactive learning tool, almost like private lessons
11/24/2007 9:00:04 PM
^yeah, or the little amplifier could have a hardware MPEG encoder in it or other hardware chip that can perform FFTs (cheap), then even the Wii could have a version. (this could actually be built into a guitar)it would presumably have a different data stream for each pickup (so the software can determine which string is generating each tone). the mini-amp (or guitar, depending on how it's built) could then have 2 jacks: one to output data streams intended for interacting with the software, the other would output the mixed analog signal for connecting it to a REAL amplifier if one would be bold enough to actually PLAY said guitar without the software.
11/25/2007 4:27:54 AM
now youre crossing the line between fun and frustration....alot of people who try to learn guitar get frustrated...it takes years to be amazing
11/25/2007 9:53:00 AM
The average consumer wants to be a rock star NOW. They don't want to put in the effort of years of practice and dedication to be good. But as far as a learning tool for those who really do want to learn how to actually play, yeah, that would be a great tool.
11/25/2007 10:47:51 AM
^^True but you could have different games for level of talent, like intro/beginner, intermediate, expert etcThere are a lot of beginner songs where you can just play chords and still have a lot of fun with itSmells Like Teen Spirit comes to mind, and Bad Moon Rising, and things like that
11/25/2007 11:00:02 AM
i'm all about the drums...friend got it friday and we have been playing non-stop...might venture into expert today
11/25/2007 1:50:10 PM
^ go into practice and do a drumroll on the red pad. some of the early units have screwed up pads and when you hit them rapidly it stops registering completely.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAWd7nTAK0Y&feature=user
11/25/2007 11:32:40 PM
man if they parted this game out they could sell so many moreI'd buy it just for the drumset, maybe mic, i've already got everything else i need
11/25/2007 11:43:31 PM
dragon force add on songsmake with them
11/25/2007 11:53:29 PM
^^they will, in january

Upcoming DLC:
11/26/2007 11:40:53 AM
I played the demo at Best Buy this weekend, mad fun and my gf loved it too. My only complaint was that the guitar was noticeably easier than Guitar Hero. Drums were great though... I tried medium and it was pretty easy, so I stepped up to hard and it was a good difficulty level.btw,
11/26/2007 11:46:48 AM
Hell Yeah. Need to pick up the extra Radiohead and Weezer songs.
11/26/2007 11:56:25 AM
I hate you people coordinated enough to do the drums.I just finished 5 starring everything on easy, and am now moving to medium.
11/26/2007 12:42:02 PM
^^^ They've shown videos that prove the guitar is much easierthis is definitely meant as a group game, and if you are buying it only for the guitar, then buy guitar hero. If you're buying it only for the mic, buy karaoke revolution.
11/26/2007 1:07:44 PM
wraith, i had the same question. i did google it and saw some articles where the developers said they planned to release it on every major console, and that the wii had particular features that would work well with the game, but i never saw anything final, and certainly not a date.
11/26/2007 6:07:22 PM
Green Grass and High Tides is officially the best song in the game and better than any of the songs in any of the guitar hero games.I don't necessarily mean the song itself, but the note chart for the guitar on expert is great, the song is good and when I play it I actually feel like I am rocking out. Freebird in GH II was alright, but the intro is so long and boring I didn't like to play it that much.My only complaint is the game lacks a song that transcends human ability (like Jordan and Six in GH II, or the boss battle DLC and some of the bonus songs in GH III). The songs I struggle just to get 4* on are fun too!
11/27/2007 1:13:46 AM
Can you still buy this game? I was at the best buy in garner earlier and didn't see any, but I was in a hurry and didn't look that hard.
11/27/2007 1:41:52 AM
someone convince me it's worth spending the money on. my roommates would rather die than throw in on any xbox game, but damn if they aren't playing my shit all the time.
11/27/2007 8:33:43 AM
^ lock up your controllers when they aren't around. you shouldn't be footing the bill for their entertainment.
11/27/2007 9:16:06 AM
interesting way to dampen your drumshttp://generationgamerz.com/v2/insight/time-for-rock-band-arts-crafts.php
11/27/2007 4:23:32 PM
i think you can get this for $50 through some kind of American Express members thing...my officemate showed it to me, but it was just looking on the company card
11/27/2007 4:25:45 PM
It is definitely worth spending the money for it.I'm considering getting a 360 or PS3 just for this game.
11/27/2007 4:53:13 PM
same...but i'd rather not if this wii talk is true
11/27/2007 5:01:46 PM
^^ me too
11/27/2007 5:04:53 PM
I guess I can buy it and since my Wii gets zero playtime except by everyone other than myself, I'll sell it over xmas.Gotta purchase a new sensor bar though. [Edited on November 27, 2007 at 5:30 PM. Reason : /]

currently my top 5 favorite songs to play1. Rush - Tom Sawyer2. That coheed song (I guess there IS one song of theirs I like)3. flyleaf - i'm so sick4. Faith No More - Epic5. Radiohead - Creep
11/27/2007 5:39:54 PM
so how fun is this compared to guitar hero 3? with one player?i feel that GH3 is enough
11/27/2007 5:52:16 PM
GH3 pales in comparison to GH/GH2, and GH3 doesn't have drums.Rock Band FTW.
11/27/2007 6:03:45 PM
well i have the wii. so i cant compare to GH/GH2and who knows if rockband is coming out for wii or not
11/27/2007 6:05:45 PM
damn that shit is way too expensive, but i want it
11/27/2007 8:14:31 PM
