sweet! do yall think he's gonna be the liriano of this year (in the sense that he's a rookie and is going to put up great numbers)?
5/4/2007 10:41:33 AM
Just got offered Lance Berkman for Roy Oswalt. I really need HR and RBI, while I'm fairly strong and deep in pitching. I think I'm going to pull the trigger, anybody see any reason I shouldn't? Berkman's had a slow start, but he's a pretty solid bet to put up good numbers if he stays healthy.
5/4/2007 11:11:38 AM
Man, it's hard to say. Personally, I never like giving up a quality pitcher for a power hitter. You know how the Astros make those late season runs. Oswalt might help late.
5/4/2007 3:28:29 PM
yeah, I agree, I wouldnt do it...there are several hitters out there who will put up Berkman-type numbers, but not as many pitchers who will win you around 15 games and have a high strikeout countOswalt is a mid-to-high tier pitcher while Berkman is an aging middle tier hitteryou could probably get a better hitter for Oswalt than Berkman, especially if you packaged him with another decent pitcher or hitter[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 2:50 AM. 5/5/2007 2:49:48 AM
I've just offered Rollins and Dave Roberts for Ichiro and Michael Young. Good trade?
5/5/2007 12:23:25 PM
^do it if he accepts[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 1:19 PM. Reason : What are your stat categories?]
5/5/2007 1:18:49 PM
i just traded posada and mussina for dice-k. I have john buck on my team to replace posada and i feel like there are plenty of guys generally on waivers who are just as good as mussina who gets hurt all the time ( i picked up lincecum).
5/5/2007 1:59:05 PM
Tim Lineceum (spelling?). Young pitcher for SF is making his first start today. His minor stats this year were something like 0.29 ERA with like 66 Ks in 45 innings. He is supposed to be sick as hell. I got him on two of my teams.
5/6/2007 12:45:02 PM
^ yeah thats what i'm hoping too, my thing with my trade is if daisuke is a bust then i gave up a good catcher and a potentially good pitcher
5/6/2007 3:32:06 PM
Yea Lincecum has some nasty stats in AAA. He should be awesome in a few years.
5/6/2007 6:09:34 PM
good thing i sat lincecum haha...if i wouldve played him i wouldve lost the week's lead in era and whip and won 6-4 instead of 8-2!
5/7/2007 5:11:21 PM
i picked him up because i made that 1 for 2 trade and but i benched him since i was leading those categories as well. Still could be solid down the road though.
5/7/2007 10:26:31 PM
Last year, my new favorite player was Boof Bonser. This year, it's Cubs' relief pitcher Rocky Cherry.
5/8/2007 11:07:57 PM
just traded nick swisher, ichiro and jenks for manny ramirez and brandon webbthoughts?
5/9/2007 12:42:48 AM
pretty even deal, i like iti got morneau for ichiro and jose lopez this weekend....morneau's first night for me he pops 2 HR, nice
5/9/2007 12:49:04 AM
was anybody's StatTracker down last night? its back up now but i couldnt get it at all yesterday and was wondering if it was just me
5/9/2007 10:28:53 AM
Damn I'm glad that I traded Alex Rios for Josh Beckett. Beckett is now 7-0. Woot.
5/9/2007 10:32:30 AM
if you were smart, you would now trade Beckett and someone else for Johan......Beckett's value will not be any higher ever
5/9/2007 5:51:36 PM
yeah but he also shows no signs of slowing down. i can understand if its some no name player who's doing really well, but beckett is a pretty big name himself. if he can stay healthy, he's the frontrunner for the cy young
5/9/2007 6:24:00 PM
"if he can stay healthy" is a big if. Until last year, he's never played a full season. Johan is a proven commodity, best pitcher in baseball consistently the past 3 years. I wouldn't blame you for holding onto him but I would be proactive and try to improve and Santana is the best there is.
5/9/2007 9:58:41 PM
i have Johan in my league...you'd have to throw in somebody pretty fucking good along with Beckett to get me to trade Johan
5/10/2007 10:42:31 AM
agreed. You would have to be a fucking rookie to dump Santana for Beckett this early in the season. There is lots of baseball left. I'd stick with the one who is proven over the test of time.
5/10/2007 10:44:44 AM
Man, too bad the whole Chris Carpenter pick didn't pan out. Since he's going to be out for 3 months, should I just leave him on the DL until he gets back or dump him all together?[Edited on May 10, 2007 at 10:45 AM. Reason : IDK]
5/10/2007 10:44:58 AM
i've been killin it with the 0.98 ERA and 0.76 WHIP so far this week...J. Shields (SP - TB) had 9 scoreless innings last night and all my closers are money...and Kelvim Escobar is doing his thing so far today
5/10/2007 5:03:27 PM
so the guy I am going up against this week who pulled a few wins out of his ass in the pitching position. Even a few of his middle relievers got wins. Naturally, Maine got a ND and Lowe had a Complete game Loss, so I started streaming pitchers to catch up in wins.Harang won for me today and I streamed Escobar, who also looks like a win is coming.I'll be down 4-2 win wins but have until Sunday night. Any pitchers out there (who likely arent picked up) have good matchups tomorrow who are probable starters?
5/10/2007 5:10:14 PM
I've got Johan and Sabathia tomorrow but you might pick up Shawn Hill, AJ Burnette, Joe Blanton, etc
5/10/2007 5:13:47 PM
i agree with yall if i had johan and someone proposed beckett, but since i've already got beckett i'm a little more hesitant to part with him since he's doing so well. bird in the hand thing i guess
5/10/2007 7:20:42 PM
Should I start Jerod Washburn tonight vs. NYY?I'm up 4 - 2 in wins, down 0 - 1 in losses and losing both ERA and WHIP battle. Winning IPs, and winning SO by 4.[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 8:36 AM. Reason : .]
5/11/2007 8:35:26 AM
^I say no.
5/11/2007 8:44:32 AM
^^ Not against the Yankees. If it were the A's or the Royals, then yes.
5/11/2007 12:05:51 PM
so halladay went on the DL today, and jason marquis, gil meche, and tim wakefield are all available. because the royals never win, i'm down to wakefield and marquis. which do you guys think
5/11/2007 11:41:37 PM
^^ ERA of 0 and 1.05 WHIP through 6....
5/11/2007 11:55:49 PM
If nobody's taken Marquis yet than you have a damn small league...until he looks like he has the rest of his career grab him[Edited on May 12, 2007 at 8:15 AM. Reason : a]
5/12/2007 8:15:19 AM
its a full 12 teams, but i think half of them don't check their teams anyhow. oh well, another trophy for my mantle
5/12/2007 9:35:08 AM
10-0 this past week
5/14/2007 1:52:01 PM
^niceMan, Torii Hunter saved a couple of my teams last night with his 2 HR, 7 RBI performance.
5/14/2007 2:30:34 PM
yeah I had Torii and Maglio in that gameDavid Wright's 3 stolen bases helped very much yesterday
5/14/2007 3:35:31 PM
i am so fucking sick of picking up pitchers who have lit the world on fire only to suck cock when i start them. i just picked up moyer and marquis, who have a combined like 2.30 ERA and tonight its around 6.00. seems like every week i just spot my opponent a huge ERA. add to that halladay and suddenly tim hudson is my only reliable starter
5/14/2007 10:07:58 PM
if anybody is really hurting for a closer (I've been trying to piece together 2-3 solid closers all year through trades but the other managers are stingy bastards) then Toronto's Jeremy Accardo might not be a bad pick-upOnce BJ Ryan was declared out for the season, the backup Jason Frasor was benched in favor of Accardo. Since I picked him up a few days ago, he's got 2 saves in 2 opportunities and for the season has 19 K's though 17 IP with a 0.00 ERA. With my luck, he'll fall apart soon, but if you are looking for closer's this guy could end up being a steal
5/15/2007 8:38:28 AM
Need some trade advice in a 14 team, 5x5 Roto league. With Carpenter out my only 2 reliable pitchers are Kazmir and Chris Young, so I desperately need help, preferably an ace. I'm talking to a guy right now that's willing to discuss Oswalt, so I'm gonna offer him Crawford for Oswalt plus X. Out of the rest of the guys on his team that I could use, where do you guys think the cutoff is for fair/unfair, good trade/bad trade:1B Jim Thome2B Marcus Giles2B Dan Uggla3B Alex Rodriguez3B Akinori IwamuraOF Carlos LeeOF Chris B. YoungOF Bobby AbreuOF Reggie WillitsSP James ShieldsSP John MaineSP Bartolo ColonSP Dave BushSP Jared WeaverRP Jose ValverdeRP Joakim SoriaRP Brandon LyonRP Eric GagneRP Octavio Dotel[Edited on May 15, 2007 at 9:46 AM. Reason : s]
5/15/2007 9:38:58 AM
Weaver hasnt been doing great this year...Shields has been doing very well...Colon is a good option
5/15/2007 12:49:33 PM
^^ If you can get Shields, then that would be a great pickup. Otherwise you might be able to get Bush from him along with Oswalt. Bush has started out crappy, but he's a low BB, high inning guy and now that the Brewers are good, he should be in line for 14-16 wins if he stays healthy.
5/15/2007 12:57:55 PM
need infield help bad. i'm taking a gamble right now hoping that iwamura, kaz matsui and howie kendrick return soon. today, i dropped derosa to add kendrick. anyone know his return date? yahoo is pretty vague with it.
5/16/2007 12:31:30 PM
^ Is Ty Wigginton available - he is eligible at a lot of IF positions and has been hitting pretty decent this year. I have Kendrick on one of my teams and his injury seems to be healing slowly. He was supposed to be taking BP recently, but I have not heard anything more.
5/16/2007 12:45:07 PM
Kevin Youkilis for Boston is pretty nice...1B/3B/OF in yahoo leagues
5/16/2007 12:51:24 PM
Youkilis/Wiggington are both taken. Some of the top INF's left are like Garko, D. Johnson, Blake, Erstad, Nady, Kotchman, Ensberg, Easley... not much to choose from.
5/16/2007 12:55:22 PM
hmmm...tough callquestion: should I play Orlando Hudson at 2B today or Robinson Cano? Hudson is putting up all types of better numbers than Cano, but the Yanks have a double header today, so he'll get probably 8 at bats to Hudson's 4...I'm leaning towards Canoalso should I play Damon at OF? I'm thinking he'll play the whole 1st game and maybe pinch hit the 2nd or something? any ideas? hopefully they'll just put his ass at DH]
5/16/2007 1:30:12 PM
^I'd play both Cano and Damon...even if Damon only plays one game, he'll get as many AB's as whoever else you play, then if he plays at all in the second game it'll be a bonus^^I just picked up Casey Blake, he's consistent for the indians, and has been for the past couple of seasons. He has found a way to get into the batting order almost every game, plus he brings power, average, and can even steal a base every now and then. He's listed as a 1B, 3B and OF in my league, so he can play multiple positions if another player has a day off.
5/16/2007 1:34:49 PM
wtf, Miguel Cairo starting at 2B for NYY?
5/16/2007 2:16:32 PM
