where did you see those sizes listed?that's a lot more like what 1st gen should have had!
6/29/2007 8:41:01 PM
I saw the line at crabtree and I died a little inside
6/29/2007 8:41:49 PM
hopefully the apple stores have more than the at&t stores.. macnn is reporting the at&t store on wallstreet in new york sold out its entire stock of 60 phones of course i'm sure they NYC apple stores are loaded w/ phones given the sheer number of people that go through there, but makes you wonder where crabtree and southpoint will be on the priority list
6/29/2007 9:09:08 PM
the problem with raleigh is its just big enough to have a large demand and just small enough not to get the large suppliesat least thats what I've seen with a lot of high demand products
6/29/2007 9:30:35 PM
I walked into the Apple store at Crabtree at about 7:30 and bought an 8GB iPhone, no line at all, just walked in bought the phone and walked out.....in and out in about 3 minutes, they had at least 100 more lined up behind the counter

6/29/2007 10:55:24 PM
I didn't see no 400-500 people in line. It was less than that.[Edited on June 29, 2007 at 11:15 PM. Reason : .]

Hahahah this shit is happening JUST like the PS3 launch.A few thousand hardcore nerds campout, then 80% of the initial buyers slap their shit on ebay immediately, the price (and demand) drops to nothing, and people move on.Seriously, almost 2400 iphones on ebay right now. That's fucking retarded. There are going to be so many stores with so much inventory. Who wants to take bets on when the first price drop happens?

I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a new product/technology. I mean there are still iPods dying left and right
6/30/2007 3:20:58 AM
6/30/2007 6:56:58 AM
my niece dropped her ipod ONCE and guess what - hard drive failure.
6/30/2007 8:41:05 AM
ipods are such a huge waste of money
6/30/2007 8:57:08 AM
i got a creative 2 gb (that has a lot of features and a nice screen) for 99, and yahoo subscription for 15/yr. oh and the creative in not a nice, its nice and small, and slick.who da man now dawg lolone saving grace for the iphone is that all of the features that it should have are only software issues, so its only a matter of time before they are there. eg, text messaging [Edited on June 30, 2007 at 9:03 AM. ^^ what do you really expect when you drop something like that?one of my co-workers got one, and i've been playing with it some this morning, here are his thoughts that he wrote:
6/30/2007 9:07:45 AM
wtf, you mean to say that an ipod should break if you drop it? i mean come on now, drop testing small electronics should be one of the most thoroughly tested things, and apparently either apple did not do this, or their products can't handle the most common mishap with ANY small electronic device. no insurance on the iphone... hmmm.... i wonder why...[Edited on June 30, 2007 at 9:14 AM. Reason : asdf]
6/30/2007 9:13:26 AM
I'd expect that if i dropped something with a hard drive in it, it would likely break, be it a laptop, Ipod, or whatever.Which is one reason why I won't get an Ipod until they come out with one that is fully flash (or some other solid state storage) based.
6/30/2007 9:17:28 AM
hahaha, would you expect a to drop a laptop that sits still on a desk 90% of the time, or would you expect to drop an ipod that you carry around 90% of the time? i guess apple assume that ipod havers would nail it to the wall because it has a hard drive in it to keep from dropping it. no insurance telling me that that shit will break easily, REAL easily. things that would have a high chance of being dropped should be engineered to minimize damages, but i am sure that you do not agree.
6/30/2007 9:26:01 AM
6/30/2007 9:44:19 AM
i was just being facetious when i said that. all i am saying is that i have never dropped a laptop, and i have never seen anyone drop a laptop, but i know it happens. but i have dropped a cell a few times, and i have seen numerous times people dropping their cell phone, so people who got an iphone have the same chance of dropping their iphone as they would their previous cell phone. i really wish them luck with no insurance. pretty much one good drop and you have to buy a hard drive if it is out of warranty, or you are just screwed out of 600 if you can't afford a hard drive. ah, what is the warranty like on this phone... i have to look this up. oh and as far as i know (or have heard rather) it has a glass face... wow.[Edited on June 30, 2007 at 9:58 AM. Man it just keeps getting better.Every store in the country still has stock.Almost 6000 of the little shits on ebay. Man those people are going to be pissed. Hahahaha.
6/30/2007 11:05:54 AM
they can get a full refund within 14 days if the box is unopen, and if the box is opened there is a 10% restock fee. so apple might get their ass handed back to them lol
6/30/2007 11:18:04 AM
^^ The sad thing is that I see people bidding them up to 200%+ their MSRP.
6/30/2007 11:20:21 AM
6/30/2007 11:25:29 AM
hard drive , flash drive, who cares, you drop it and it is likely to break internally. my niece drop her nano once and good bye it was.
6/30/2007 11:28:43 AM
Flash drives are MUCH less likely to fail from dropping...Speaking of the nano:http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/3[Edited on June 30, 2007 at 11:32 AM. Reason : ]
6/30/2007 11:30:04 AM
i think we all know thatbut drop your ipod or an iphone, or drop a flash drive, which is mostly likely to break? i have even drop my flash drop several times, and even washed in the washing machine and even dried haha, lol, and it still works like a champ
6/30/2007 11:31:47 AM
I don't know, but that ars review had the nano still working after being tossed out of a moving car. As others said here (and apple's history shows) the screen is the thing to worry about with any of their flash based devices.
6/30/2007 11:33:39 AM
well i am not saying every ipod/iphone will break if it is dropped, but if you do drop, i am sure it will be mentally devastating, and they is a high chance that it will break. but yeah i agree about the screen.
6/30/2007 11:37:07 AM
I tried it out at the store. It's slick as hell - slicker than any other phone out there. Hooray for AAPL - this is going to work out like iPod. It makes every other phone of the market look stupid as hell.It will take great will power not to get one before the next revision.[Edited on June 30, 2007 at 11:46 AM. Reason : fg]
6/30/2007 11:45:16 AM
^Yeah the interface is really really nice. Lack of an SD card slot and 3G capability is all the "will-power" I need though.
6/30/2007 11:53:37 AM
and you can't directly download a song while on the roam, you have to go home and get it through Itunes on your PC and then side load it... hopefully they will give up on this and just give an update to get rid of it much like Xbox360 did with its 1080p settings...My reasons to not get one are A) I can't afford it, I'm going back to schoolB) first gen problemsC) I want more memory and know thats just a generation awayD) 2MP isn't bad, but there are cell phones out there with 5MP... and I think next gen will have at least 3MP which is all I ever really view at (although my 10MP camera is freakin sweet to zoom in on stuff with)E) Side loading vs over the air... blow meI've litterally been waiting for this since the IPOD came out... I figure eventually they would integrate a phone and camera into an ipod... So I never figured it was worth it to buy any version of the ipod until this came out... and now they did... I just can't afford it

Do all ipods have a ahrd drive? Even the small ones?and also, is it really that big of a deal that the iphone wads up a paper and puts it in a recycle bin? I'm completely happy with hitting "delete" on my phone and then it says "message deleted". I don't need to see a cheesy animation of paper wadding and getting thrown away. Also, who cares if it acts like a camera and has a "shutt animation"...big whoop... that's just added stuff they could have done without...To each his own but those aren't reasons I would be going nuts over it.[Edited on June 30, 2007 at 1:35 PM. 6/30/2007 1:33:39 PM
^its because the people buying these are tech nerds. Apple fills their stuff with the little fluff bits to distract people from the lackluster actual abilities of the phone. Frills are much cheaper than features.
6/30/2007 1:46:55 PM
