hope you're good, man. let me know if you need anything, and take care of yourself
2/23/2007 11:49:16 AM
still game on for monday. the cultures have grown something small, but not enough to postpone things any further.
2/24/2007 3:07:36 PM
surgery cancelled for tomorrow. the cultures have grown a little more, and the orthopedic doctors don't want to procede until they have a big pow wow with the infectious disease doctors and they all figure out what exactly is going on.in the meantime, i'm back on heavy ant biotics through my iv.
2/25/2007 10:15:01 PM
Damn man. when do you get to go home?
2/25/2007 10:18:34 PM
biotics FTW
2/25/2007 10:23:11 PM
yeah, just tell them to take the damn leg off and replace it with rocket booster.
2/25/2007 10:25:27 PM
^^^not a clue. it's already been 5 days. hopefully they'll have another plan together tomorrow sometime.
2/25/2007 10:40:56 PM
GOT MY FINGERS CROSSED, DAWG.Seriously Ivan...we're all pullin fer ye.
2/25/2007 10:54:52 PM
oh oh oh, tell them you want robocop's leg. And ask if the pistol is included...
2/25/2007 11:07:44 PM
haha. that would be pretty sweet.
2/25/2007 11:54:58 PM
ivan, you need a new screen name : BigBlueLeg
2/26/2007 12:46:21 AM
we should build a 600cc powered wheel chair for ivan.
2/26/2007 12:53:42 PM
2/26/2007 2:14:50 PM
I'll chip in a dollar for BBR's new screen name.
2/26/2007 2:38:27 PM
lol. i hope it stays big white hairy lots of scars leg. you guys can feel free to build me a 600cc shifter kart.
2/26/2007 2:40:38 PM
no, we must keep it on a wheelchair chassis. how cool would it be going into handicapped accessible areas such as malls or hospitals on a 100hp wheelie machine chair that could take you from 0-60 in 3 seconds? :p
2/26/2007 2:46:42 PM
shit, i didn't know you were still doing surgeries and stuff. i thought you were miraculously patched up and just doing physical therapy.
2/26/2007 2:50:59 PM
i wish. the recovery has been pretty miraculous so far, but i've still got a ways to go.i was only doing pt to increase ankle movement to avoid a tendon extension. the "real" pt will start in a few weeks.
2/26/2007 3:23:40 PM
okay, back on for wednesday. doctors identified that the infection is still psudomonas, though much weaker than it was months ago which is good.they decided it was alot more important to go ahead and get the orthopedic stuff taken care of, and worry about the fighting the infection afterwards since it's not a bad case of it and it's still responding to the iv anti biotics.
2/26/2007 9:50:08 PM
okay, updates: so the bone graft went well. very painful, but sucessfull. finally got out of the hospital this past sunday. 12 days and 2 surgeries this time. that brings a total of 27 days and 8 surguries. hopefully that'll be the final tally.i'm finally able to start moving around some the past couple of days, the pain in my side from where they took bone has had me pretty confined to bed prior. it was an understatement when they said that this procedure would be painful. it was alot more involved than i think i expected. they also ended up doing an extension on my achilles tendon anyway. once they went in, they realized things were just to bound up by scar tissue and movement wouldn't get any better than it was without cutting it.anyway, the best news i've had so far came at the doctor today. just 6 more weeks and i can start trying to walk again. i won't be running around or anything obviously, but i'll be cleared to start putting putting full/normal weight on things which is awesome. hope i remember how after this long, lol. i've got some new pics of my latest incisions, etc. i'll post up whenever i find my upload cable.
3/8/2007 5:15:34 PM
damn dude, i feel your painget well soon
3/8/2007 5:18:19 PM
6 more weeks, foo
3/8/2007 5:27:12 PM
look at it this way:at least now you can ride motorcycles and jet skis and stuff with no fear of fucking yourself up!
3/8/2007 7:21:37 PM
^That deserves the ultimate
3/9/2007 12:00:54 AM
hey in six weeks youll be well on the road to recovery, while ill be married... wanna trade?
3/9/2007 1:27:03 AM
^thanks, but i'll take 6 months of hell over a lifetime. just kidding...^^^lol, i wish. that's what i thought after my first wreck "hey, i've paid my dues, what are the chances of having another big one?". little did i know. surprisingly, i do still have the urge to ride and still lust after bikes on CL, etc. as a personal decision, i won't ever ride again though as i've said before. i've had my fun for a few years, now it's over. even if i decided to, i've made a promise to my family not to. i owe them at least that after all the help they've given me and what they've been through during all this. my waverunners, however, are a different story.
3/9/2007 1:48:24 AM
I've got to give you props on having such a good attitude through all this. Hope your recovery continues to go as well as possible.
3/9/2007 3:29:22 AM
Ivan's a tough SOB. he could damn near survive anything.btw, hope its goin good/ or better. Don ever get by there?
3/9/2007 1:27:29 PM
3/9/2007 1:44:24 PM
yeah, keeping a positive attitude has been crucial, and i'd say the hardest part. i can deal with pain, it's some of those endless days laying on your back staring at the ceiling that can get to you. in alot of ways, the mental aspect has been harder than the physical part so far. i def. plan on doing whatever i have to do with the pt, it will play a pretty big role in the use i get back i think.
3/9/2007 9:41:42 PM
3/9/2007 9:45:31 PM
lol
3/9/2007 11:58:00 PM

3/10/2007 8:36:17 AM
Get better soon man
3/10/2007 7:26:38 PM

3/11/2007 1:02:19 AM
thanks.
3/11/2007 11:39:04 PM
kicked the hardcore painkillers last week, so i can finally drive again (automatics anyway). w00t!as of tomorrow, three more weeks until walking time. can't wait, it's gonna be a looong three weeks.
3/28/2007 8:53:18 PM
kick ass!
3/28/2007 9:44:17 PM
yeah, the wait is the worst part of it all. Specially when your used to being so active. I got stuck on being on the laptop all the time and play games right after surgery. I also joined like 5 other forums and checked 12 forums a day. Now I only check 4.
3/28/2007 10:20:58 PM
yeah, my laptop will breathe a sigh of relief when i finally get back to work, etc...
3/28/2007 10:59:44 PM
how many posts have you made since surgery? Bet it went up like 10x folds....
3/29/2007 7:45:14 AM
^actually, probably not much more. i'm on here pretty frequently even during my "normal" life.couple more pics. these are from the bone graft surgery a few weeks ago.where they took the bone from on my side:where they went back into my leg to do the graft:looks kinda funny to have that nice, neat incision next to the big scar from where it was ripped open. igor sure does have a crazy name on that report, haha. failure to avoid a collision. sucks, but it's good you're healing up Ivan, seriously, I didn't think you would have recovered as quickly as you did.
4/9/2007 11:22:00 PM
haha, yeah he does. yeah, it's definitely been a pretty speedy recovery considering. sure doesn't feel that way alot of the time though, lol.just to clarify, the other guy got the ticket not me.
