i've seen it twice already...once with Thorsten on thursday night at 9:45 and then last night with my family and gf for my birthday at 9:40...it was equally as great the second time.
3/10/2007 12:35:54 PM
You love posting some details like showtimes. HAHA
3/10/2007 3:20:24 PM
it's important because it was a clear comparison with similar viewing times...i wasn't biased by seeing a matinee vs. a late movie...
3/10/2007 3:29:48 PM
didn't like itit was really fucking shinylike a pretty really boring really dumb girl
3/10/2007 3:32:00 PM
Who the fuck is biased by the showtime?
3/10/2007 3:35:22 PM
hahamatinee audiences vs. night-time audiences can be different i guess
3/10/2007 3:37:13 PM
there was a slight hint of sarcasm in my statement
3/10/2007 4:15:53 PM
im just saying you love throwing out details. I would have been like "Saw it twice now, loved it just as much the second time"You had to throw out "Thorsten, GF, Birthday, showtimes, color of shirt you were wearing, phase of the moon, etc"haha, just kidding.but yeah, awesome movie
3/10/2007 4:31:36 PM
the devil is in the details man
3/10/2007 4:35:45 PM
probably a habit you picked up from writing those gay porn books a couple of summers ago.oh, sorry, I meant homosexual erotica novela or whatever you kept calling it.
3/10/2007 4:40:40 PM

3/10/2007 4:41:23 PM

3/10/2007 4:46:14 PM

3/10/2007 10:03:03 PM
O, RLY?
3/10/2007 10:11:52 PM
actually, a majority of the ____-screen parts were filmed in bluescreen, with the rest in greenscreen.
3/10/2007 10:40:31 PM
ooooo burtn
3/10/2007 11:07:40 PM
This score (especially the final piece) sounds very much like Elliot Goldenthal's Titus Soundtrack.
3/11/2007 3:05:59 PM
I hope this movie is as good as Troy
3/11/2007 3:22:43 PM
3/11/2007 3:24:04 PM
I was about to buy troy yesterday at BB."IS THERE NO ONE ELSE??!!"but i got From Dusk 'til Dawn instead [Edited on March 11, 2007 at 3:26 PM. Reason : fjd]
3/11/2007 3:25:32 PM
god Troy was awfulthat being saidthis is one of the best movies ive seen all year
3/13/2007 11:52:32 AM
^but not as bad as Alexander
3/13/2007 12:00:45 PM
you guys are crazy, troy and alexander are two of my favorites of the last 5 years, ya'll are movie retartded
3/13/2007 12:07:57 PM
I liked Troy, but I thought that Alexander suffered from a poor editing job. The latter seemed to drag in too many places.
3/13/2007 3:05:48 PM
I heard some nerds in the EB1 lab gushing about it today. Figures.
3/13/2007 3:35:35 PM
A movie shouldn't replace a book, or vice versa. They are separate media that at times require different narrative styles and devices. When I was taking fantasy lit the LotR movies were still coming out with RotK arriving at the end of the semester. I thought the movies were great, but they were no substitute for the book in class. You'd get the same ridicule in a film class for not watching Troy and trying to pass off what you picked up in Latin for the plot. I don't think there are any history teachers willing to give extra credit for anything as interesting as 300 when they can force kids to watch Amistad year after year.
3/14/2007 8:25:33 AM
It's not about replacing- I can live with some differences. But they kept stating how happy they were to finally be able to make this epic poem into an epic movie, and how carefully they studied the texts to learn about their characters, etc. When really, it must've been complete bullshit. Helen doesn't end up with Paris, and Menelaus does not die. You just changed the ending of one of the greatest epic poems ever written because your shitfed audience couldn't handle it if love didn't win out in the end? That's just retarded- that's not a "device," that's a severe plot change to a plot that didn't have any problems to begin with. That'd be like Frodo turning around and going home.[Edited on March 14, 2007 at 12:53 PM. Well you can blame Disney for that. People were OK with regular conclusions until matrimony became a solution and an end to the problems of troubled, marriageable, beautiful adolescent females in every animated movie they cranked out. Iliad & Odyssey were fine the way they were as poems, just as LotR was fine the way it was as a book. But if Ovid taught you anything, stuff changes in translation between languages and formats. The changes in Troy are hardly deal breakers and one can hardly blame a studio for wanting to create something profitable, lest we want to rag on our debased consumer society, in which case we should hardly be surprised any of this nonsense happens !
3/14/2007 12:59:05 PM
They didn't just changed TroyThey made up an entire new story.Thats a pretty big difference from deciding to leave out a not-very-important character in LOTR.
3/14/2007 1:16:47 PM
kickass moviemuch better than most of the crap that I've seen latelyI thought the design of the characters was incredible: xerxes, immortals, guy with no neck but fucking pincers for arms wtfbbq
3/14/2007 4:31:18 PM
3/14/2007 4:44:55 PM
Meh....I knew the Troy story, found the movie inaccurate, but still found the movie entertaining.
3/14/2007 5:01:32 PM
exactly, these movies arent trying to be accurate, and they make no claim to be, they are for ENTERTAINMENT, the only thing 300 claims to be based on is A FUCKING COMIC BOOK, if you want a historically acurate movie go rent a documentary.
3/14/2007 5:04:02 PM
3/14/2007 5:12:44 PM
Ovid, Metamorphoses, of course. You didn't like the movie before you saw it, did you?
3/14/2007 5:13:15 PM
I finally saw it. It was good. Not great, but pretty good.
3/14/2007 7:21:17 PM
3/14/2007 7:56:56 PM
sometimes i enjoy not knowing a lotso i can watch movies for what they are, and not what they arentgreat movie
3/14/2007 9:34:21 PM
Yeah, I'm totally not allowed to hate the movie after watching it because of what I thought beforehand. Regardless of what you're seeing, you have some opinion before you even get to the theater anyhow.Besides the lameness of the plot, the acting was dreadful (the only exception being Peter O'Toole). If I watched movies just for action, sure, whatever, it's fine for that. But I don't, and I'm not going to apologize for thinking his movie was absolute shit. Because that's exactly what it was.[Edited on March 14, 2007 at 10:18 PM. Reason : .]

those two dudes wouldn't quit flirtinghelluva movie other wisebut I thought they would juxtapose the wolf scene with the spartans leading the persians into the hot pass and whittling down the numberso well, no biggie
3/15/2007 4:13:22 AM
3/15/2007 7:05:23 AM
hahahahah
3/15/2007 7:25:02 AM
I mentioned Ovid because change in format, language, and/or narrative is essentially metamorphosis. When Daphne turned into a tree or when Niobe turned into a rock, either as a result of necessity or consequence, no one walked up to either and said THE ORIGINAL WAS BETTER LOL [to my knowledge] because that kind of thinking is futile; there was simply a change, and of course it's up to the individual to decide what it means to him or her. If the result of the changes made to Troy or 300 are upsetting you you're entitled to your opinion and I'd even be likely to agree with your assessment that the results aren't that great, but you seem to be upset that change happened at all in addition to it being for the worse in your opinion. No one's forcing you to like it (though you risk fanboy ire) and I'll be the last person to change your mind about 300, but the shittiness you're perceiving in the movie is a symptom pervading the rest of our generation's (I am loath to say culture's) "aesthetic" appreciation. I fear you'll have a lot of grief in your life if that's the case, but I am hopefully wrong.
3/15/2007 8:32:13 AM
I didn't like the movie as much as I thought it would for some reason. I felt like the side story of the weasel politician in Sparta was kind of glossed over:Queen : WordsPolitician : LOLSTFU HOE Queen: ZOMG *STAB*Politician : I AM TEH OWNED *Dies*And the narrator completely failed to give any sense of passion. I for one, had I been addressing a council that condemned my King to death through inaction, would not be speaking using a tone as if I were discussing a recipe for gingerbread cookies. The fighting was awesome, no doubt, and this IS a fighting movie so I shouldn't complain. However, it is nowhere near as epic as Gladiator and quite truthfully altogether too short.
3/15/2007 9:29:25 AM
you're supposed to go to this movieturn off your brainwatch badass battlesAND NOT COMPLAINthat's what this movie is for. anyone who is analyzing it needs to go back and try it again
3/15/2007 2:12:59 PM
I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. I went to enjoy a movie, not to learn or compare to historical notes. I enjoyed the combat, battles, strategy, and acting. Tha King and his men were off da damn hook. Buying it ASAP III
3/15/2007 3:10:12 PM
3/15/2007 3:15:48 PM
none of the weasel politician and queen adressing the council was in the comic right? Did they just add that to lengthen the movie?
3/15/2007 8:20:54 PM
Yea, and I woulda done the same thing
3/15/2007 8:33:24 PM
