yeah, when it erupts, we're gonna hate it. but the torrents -- called Lahars --
would actually take out Tacoma. which would suck for us because all the
Tacoma refugees would then flood Seattle making the traffic even that much
worse.

and also, people from Tacoma all have mullets and shit, with a level of education
similar to that found in Clayton or Smithfield, NC

well, that's actually pretty close to the truth... for Microsoft employees.
if you live and work in seattle the traffic isnt bad.

however, buttsex is buttsex, no matter what city you live in.

whats cool is that we went hiking today, about 1 1/2 hours out of seattle.
drove through all these backwoods redneck areas. every damn podunk town
we drove through had 3 main necessities: tobacco, beer, and espresso.
even in the middle of nowhere, on the side of the road, you had a drivethru
espresso kiosk.

I think most would agree that Charlotte has a better skyline than Louisville. Louisville has the riverfront, which would be a big advantage, but there are less and smaller buildings.

In other news, to humor the people calling me lazy, I measured the distance from the brickyard to Glenwood South. It's 1.5 miles, just to Glenwood South. That means 3 miles round-trip. It's bikable, but not walkable.

If you want to go to Fayetteville Street, it's a little over 2 miles. This is also bikable, but not walkable.

If you want to go to the Progress Energy Center or Lincoln Theatre, it's 2.5 miles.

What we get is something that's much easier to drive to than walk to. Yes, I'm aware it's a 5-minute drive there and back, tops. I was remarking that ideally, we would be able to walk it in 5 minutes, as opposed to having to drive.

1.5 miles is a 25 min walk. How the fuck is that not walkable? Not to mention you have already said every location mentioned was bikeable, so why not ride your bike?

NCSU is extremely close to downtown. It's closer to downtown than GT is to downtown Atlanta. And it's sure as hell a lot safer to bike around here than in Atl or Boston or NYC.

you didn't answer why industries are coming to the triangle and not to a place like pittsburgh. The reason that the population has exploded in raleigh since the early 90's is because there are available jobs here. All these companies aren't moving here necessarily because of the growing population. They are moving here because of things like cheaper tax's lower cost of living, and a readily available skilled workforce from the area colleges.

What do you walk, like a 30 minute mile?

Shit, 5 minutes? It takes that long just to walk from the dorms on west campus to class. Campus could be in the middle of downtown and it would still take you longer than 5 minutes during the day due to traffic and such.

yeah, you can tell from the oakland bay bridge and the triangular-ish building.

i was just in that area last week. it is an amazing city. very beautiful. but most of that has to do with the hills and the water. no amount of city planning can move your city to a bay.
