If any band could pull of a decoy album, it would be Tool. A lot of people seem to think this is a decoy, and it is concievably possible. I mean, if you look at the songs, after Wings for Mary Part 1/2, the rest of the CD...eh. They could have made the first half real, and the second half fake. But, I'll still be at the store May 2nd
4/19/2006 11:32:15 PM
id rate this 75% out of 100%. not horribly impressed or moved by any of the songs. i think i'll be listening to it for a week, then get tired of it fast. im dissapointed by maynards lack of actual strenuous vocal use, as in...actually singing. im dissapointed by carey's inability to put me in awe of his mastery.nevertheless, its OK. nothing more. nothing to write home about.
4/19/2006 11:52:46 PM
I would like to point out though, that their new "Tool" emblem, looks like "Fool"....*shrug*

just listend to the full album for the first timepure geniousi think too many people were expecting/wanting an Aenima-type albumits a new sound for this album mixed with a little old tooI think the bass riffs in this album are some of the best justin's ever donedanny and maynard however dissapointed me a little but they were still goodthe only shitty part of the album is that there are no songs that really stand out[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 11:03 AM. I never think their new albums are very good until after about 10 listens or so.. I remember thinking what a disappointment Aenima was for a day or two.. I'll wait until it sinks in to pass any judgement.

10,000 Days is rapidly moving into contention for my favorite Tool song.

4/21/2006 3:30:57 AM
thus is toolthe shit grows on youthe thing about being a band the calibre of tool is that people heap so many expectations on you that eventually you cannot deliveronce you're basically on top/at the peak of your ability, there's only one direction to go
4/21/2006 8:13:52 AM
those links dont work anymore
4/21/2006 8:23:18 AM

it's hard to dig anything new as much as you did the older stuffespecially when it TOOL's older stuffgive it time, you'll like this stuff just as muchyou know whybecause it's Music (that's with a captial M)

is it just me or are a lot of the songs on this CD kinda..... boring?I find myself just sitting through them waiting for the song to *really* kick in. And sometimes it never even does.Danny Carey said in an interview a while back that this was the most aggressive and experimental drumming he's ever done. I don't hear it?I know I'm supposed to cream my pants for Wings For Marie/10,000 Days, but it just kind of drones on and on for me. The whiney hum-hum way in which Maynard delivers the lyrics just doesn't hold my attention.I really want to like this record, and can't completely write it off yet, but so far i'm really dissapointed. Now, I know, give it some time to sink in, etc... but every Tool record has clicked right from the start for me, this is the first time I'm left just scratching my balls.Another intersting note: I usually never dig their first singles. For me, up to this point, the first single they release has not been totally representative of the album. But in a good way. Meaning, I'm usually not crazy about the 1st single but end up loving the record. I'm afraid this time around, it's the opposite.

I've been listening to Tool since Opiate and I've only had a few listens of 10,000 days. Thus far I think the first four tracks are excellent, then the album just tends to fall off for me. Except for "Right in two." Usually Tool albums have to grow on me so this is not definitive.[Edited on April 23, 2006 at 2:49 PM. Reason : .]

4/23/2006 8:40:18 PM
I think I like AEnima and Lateralus about the same as my favorites. AEnima just has SO many good songs on it, however, I think Lateralus is better lyrically and thematically.

waited awhile to post so i could digest what i heard. the first time i heard it, i had a "wtf" moment. it caught me a little off guard. i have never been disappointed by any of Tool's previous albums. and i'm not disappointed by this one either. wings for marie/10,000 days is a great song. considering it's about his mother's death, it is an extremely personal song for MJK. some people have complained about the vocals on this song but i think they fit the mood of the song perfectly. boring song? quite the opposite... this song gives me chills. plus it's got the x-files them in there now we know why the song and album are called 10,000 days. i wonder if those people that hated the album title before have changed their mind now that they know why it's called 10,000 days? OMG the album title sucks... tool copied disturbed blah blah duuuuurr stfu.jambi - love the talk box. lost keys - someone said it didn't go anywhere. where is it supposed to go? it's basically an intro for rosetta stoned. that's like saying parabol doesn't go anywhere.falls off after the first four five tracks? considering there is only three songs after that it probably does seem like it does. if somgs like disposition and triad aren't your cup of tea, then you can take intension off the list. it sounds like intension flows directly into right in two so that basically leaves you with two "songs" after the first five. if you want to think about it like that then you will have a drop off. i personally don't think it falls off.... it just has a different feel to it.i had high expectations for this album but i also had realistic expectations also. i'm not sure what some of you people were expecting... when your body of work includes Opiate, Undertow, Ænima, Lateralus... how are you going to expect a band to continually top themselves with each new album? no band can do that. they can still put out a solid album without topping their previous work.
4/23/2006 11:40:35 PM
wings for marie/10000 days is definitely a personal and powerful song. i love it. here are the lyrics if you havent seen them:Wings For Marie (Part 1) - ToolYou believed You believed in moments not conceived You believed in me A passionate spirit Uncompromise Without us in your heart A light in your eyes that Ends all lies Vacant, broken Fell at the hands of Those moments that I wouldn’t see Cause it was you who prayed for me so What have I done to be a son to an angel What have I done to be worthy Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence Difficult to see you in this light Please forgive this selfish question, but What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight She never told a lie Well might of told a lie But never lived one Didn’t have a life Didn’t have a life But surely saved one Alright, now it’s time for us to let you go 10,000 Days (Wings Part 2) - ToolWe listen to the tales and romanticize How we follow the path of the hero And boast about the day when the rivers overrun, How we'll rise to the height of our halo. Listen to the tales as we irrationalize Our way into the arms of the savior Failing all the trials and the tribulations None of us have actually been there, Not like you The ignorant flippants in the congregation, Gather around spewing sympathy. Spare me. None of them could even hold a candle up to you. Blinded by choices, hypocrites Won't see. But enough about the collective judas Who could deny you were the one who Illuminated Your little piece of the divine? This little light of mine, The gift you passed on to me, I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely On your way Your way home. What are they gonna do when the lights go down Without you to guide them all to Zion? What are they gonna do when the rivers overrun Other than tremble incessantly? High is the way But our eyes are upon the ground. You were the light and the way They'll only read about. I only pray heaven knows When to lift you out. 10000 days in the fire is long enough. You're going home. You're the only one who can hold your head up high, Shake your fist at the gates saying, "I have come home now! Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father, Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. "It's time now! My time now! Give me my Give me my wings!" "Give me my, give me my, give me my, give me my, give me my wings...." You are the light, the way, that they will only read about Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance Burden of proof tossed upon non-believers. You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence, Judith Marie, unconditional one. Daylight dims leaving cool flourescence. Difficult to see you in this light. Please forgive this bold suggestion: Should you see your maker's face tonight Look him in the eye Look him in the eye and tell him Never lived a lie, never took a life, Would surely save one hallejullah It's time for you to bring me home.[Edited on April 24, 2006 at 12:04 AM. i never realized what the song Jimmy was about until this album. i figured Judith was named for his mother but never really understood the context of that song until now. i hear those songs a little bit differently now.
4/24/2006 12:26:27 AM
Like I said, I do not have a definitive opinion of the album yet, and so far I do like what I hear. I guess, for some reason I just expect more after 5 years. Maybe thats a bit selfish and demanding of a fan.By the way, I fuckin loved Reflection, Disposition and Triad off of Lateralus.
4/24/2006 1:36:32 AM
i finally gave it a listen, and im not too impressed.the album is just there....its not too exciting, it doesnt take me anywhere, its just an album.if i had to describe it in one word, it would be "bland"
4/24/2006 7:54:19 AM
I' ve given it some more spins and I am warming up to it, but overall it is kinda bland.
4/24/2006 8:53:45 AM
after many listens i like it quite a bit. Didn't so much at first. in a recent interview maynard sad it's a sadder album than the other ones and that unlike the previous album they won't play all the songs live. he said something along the lines of not wanting to subject anyone to that. When I saw them last time around they played everything off the album but ticks and leeches. and played 3 or 4 older songs.
4/24/2006 4:41:10 PM
ticks and leeches was the best song off that shizzat.ok one of the best
4/24/2006 7:13:11 PM

funny, that's the same message I got when I tried to buy tickets at 11:00 am on the dot
4/25/2006 1:47:33 PM
i remember my first Tool show in charlotte it said they were sold out and i kept checking..and 2 days before the show i randomly checked and me and my friends got 3 SIXTH ROW tickets side by side...only thing i can think of is that they were being held by a radio station or something and never got given away i dono but it rocked
4/25/2006 1:59:16 PM
ha i think my friend won the "show us your END" contest for that show. Bastard got front row seats.
4/25/2006 4:12:19 PM
I won free tool tix to winston-salem in greenville last time they were here, they had the "show us your tool" contest where anyone on greenville blvd who had a sign with the words 99x and tool on it got free tix
4/26/2006 3:02:42 AM

4/26/2006 11:48:16 AM
