Just curious...where's everyone getting these updates? ESPN Radio?

http://www.metsblog.comhe updates throughout the league. BY FAR the best blogsite I've seen and the guy is our age but has connections EVERYWHERE it seems. He basically has people email him all the hot leads from all the major sites.I'd check it out..** it's decidedly Mets biased but is not bad..[Edited on December 8, 2005 at 12:53 PM. Reason : f]

from metsblog.com- mets are close to signing julio franco. guess the braves didnt want to pay his salary and his ss retirement
12/8/2005 2:05:09 PM
^^^You are a page late there pal. Gammons reported that at lunch today.
12/8/2005 2:50:32 PM
sox will have to make another deal now, likely for a shortstop...because they have no SS on their big league roster.Kenny Rogers signed with DET. for 2 years 16 mil.
12/8/2005 3:01:16 PM
the word now is that sox will go after a free agent ss, names being thrown around are pokey reece, alex gonzales, and royce clayton.
12/8/2005 3:09:35 PM
^ All three of those shortstops are horrible. Good defensive players, but terrible otherwise. Clayton can occasionally be a decent offensive player, but he's not better than Renteria. Maybe they'll go after Nomar - hahahahaha
12/8/2005 3:31:19 PM
Yankees sign mike myers to 2 year deal
12/8/2005 4:11:41 PM
I don't know how I feel about that one.
12/8/2005 4:36:06 PM
BRAVES ARE THE SHIT JUST SIGNED EDGAR RENTARIA
12/8/2005 4:38:37 PM
they didn't sign him, they traded for himwe knew this hours ago
12/8/2005 4:40:16 PM
^^we prefer only people who know about baseball in this thread.
12/8/2005 7:18:02 PM
Miguel Tejada is now saying that he wants to be traded from the Oriolesthe captain shouldn't leave his sinking ship. this is why Cal will always be THE hero of O's baseball.
12/8/2005 8:18:29 PM
^i smell redsox all over this. the day they trade renteria, tejada wants to be traded. hmm...
12/8/2005 8:31:44 PM
orioles probably would want a starting pitcher and Manny Ramirez

while you've got a point, as soon as he got to Baltimore he took the role of clubhouse leader, "heart of the team," and rally player. he asked for it, and he recieved it. now, he's turning his tail and running.
12/8/2005 10:35:09 PM
the Red Sox are morons if somehow they trade Manny for Tejadahell, I think they're morons if they trade him at all - No Manny = No Ortiz
12/8/2005 10:43:13 PM
well, offensively the sox aren't hurting, and if they sign damon they definitely won't be. You remember a guy named david ortiz. Also, i have a feeling they will sign a powerful first baseman. After all the errors in the infield this past year, ill take an errorless ss. But i would shit a brick if we somehow got tejada...lets offer up clement and manny if needed. he obviously doesn't want to be in boston anymore. If we got a solid OF i would take tejada in a heartbeat for manny and clement.
12/8/2005 10:43:37 PM
I don't think they'd be okay offensively without Manny though. Okay, if Damon comes back you have him getting on base but who else can produce? Even if they got Tejada, he doesn't really compare to Manny's production.. and without Manny there, Ortiz won't get anything to hit. So you're basically putting your RBI hopes on Varitek, Lowell, Loretta, whatever SS they get, and whoever plays 1B - looking like Youkilis now. I don't know about you, but I'd be just a little worried about offensive production. What solid OF and 1B are out there?[Edited on December 8, 2005 at 11:02 PM. Reason : .]
12/8/2005 11:01:13 PM
im tellin ya...someone will become available...we didn't hear about tejada til tonight. and if you think a top four consisting of damon, tejada, and ortiz wouldn't produce along with loretta and loretta you're crazy. Along with much improved pitching and a better defensive team. We'll be better off than this past year.[Edited on December 8, 2005 at 11:10 PM. Reason : A huff has been mentioned at 1B]
12/8/2005 11:08:14 PM
I'm not saying they're going to suck but I don't see how that lineup is better off than last year's. And I'm also not sure about improved pitching - the bullpen hasn't received much help yet other than Mota and that was where they really needed help. Sure Beckett is a great pickup for the rotation IF he stays healthy and everything I've read said the Sox were about to cancel the deal because his MRI looked so bad. But Clement is shaky at times, Schill and Wake are getting old, Papelbon is untested.. I dunno we'll see
12/8/2005 11:11:46 PM
papelhorn will be nasty.
12/8/2005 11:15:36 PM
What a guy!http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2253650^ Papelbon? Yea he pitched at the game I was at in Baltimore. He had electric stuff. Him and Hansen. Although Hansen got rocked on a fastball down the pipe to tie it at 2.. [Edited on December 9, 2005 at 1:14 PM. Reason : ff]
12/9/2005 1:12:48 PM
Obviously that's a shitty thing for him to say, but don't you think SOMEONE on the Nationals should have researched this before trading for him?[Edited on December 9, 2005 at 1:16 PM. Reason : sh]
12/9/2005 1:15:54 PM
^^both of those guys will be good
12/9/2005 1:51:01 PM
Jon Lester has some potential too and he is younger then both of them..
12/9/2005 1:56:59 PM
the mets signed julio franco
12/9/2005 6:31:03 PM
The Franco signing makes zero sense. Delgado is not going to be platooned with him. That he got two years is astounding.
12/9/2005 9:28:41 PM
they probably signed him to be more in a pinch hitter role
12/10/2005 1:41:20 AM
but a two year contract?for a guy that old?to come off the bench?sounds wacky to me
12/10/2005 4:25:50 PM
Franco can still hit em. Don't knock the age if the talent is there.[Edited on December 10, 2005 at 4:51 PM. Reason : .]

straight up, but the sox are paying most of renteria's salary. i think the braves are only responsible for like $6 million of it next season

12/10/2005 11:45:01 PM
yeah i knowin other news, water is wet
12/10/2005 11:47:26 PM
uh oh, the red sox have contacted roger clemens' agent. apparantly he reacted positively.

braves are only paying renteria $ 6 million per year. Red sox are taking the rest.
12/11/2005 10:48:57 PM
Tejada doesn't want a trade.Clemens was receptive to talks with the Red Sox. I think that would be GREAT for him to come back home and finish his career where it started. Full circle..
12/12/2005 8:33:23 AM
plus he's currently tied with cy young for 1st with 192 career wins with the sox. come home roger, become the greatest pitcher ever for the sox.
