Everything I know about firefly, I learned in this thread
3/18/2006 8:39:37 PM
grrrr... Blockbuster doesn't seem to have the DVDs of firefly. What good are they? [Edited on March 19, 2006 at 12:50 AM. Reason : .]

I think the whole revived by CW thing is going nowhere. I know Gina Torres at least has a pilot for the fall, as does Alan Tudyk so I guess they couldn't restart the series to fill in between where they left off and the movie (which I guess would be really confusing for people). I know Serenity is doing well on DVD here in the UK...#2 on bestseller lists since its been released a couple weeks ago. Joss is supposed to have finished the Wonderwoman script by the end of last week, so that project is moving forward at a decent pace which means he might be able to focus on some Firefly/Serenity goodness in the not too distant future. The other big question mark would be if Tim Minear's series "The Inside" (I believe is what its called) is doing/does well...I don't know the answer to that one.I posted it in the Star Wars series thread but there was an article about how it would just be better to revive Firefly than have more second-rate Star Wars[Edited on March 19, 2006 at 4:01 AM. Joss Whedon singing the theme Song is rather sad.
3/20/2006 4:55:57 AM
Joss Whedon sings the opening song for Firefly? I did not know that. Interesting. Where'd you hear that?
3/20/2006 10:56:45 AM
no, he sings it on one of the extras on the dvds
3/20/2006 11:08:42 AM
yup^........... Some guy named Rhodes sings the real deal. Joss did write the theme song though (Which frankly is a bit cheeezy)
3/20/2006 11:14:32 AM
i happened to like the theme song
3/21/2006 2:07:09 PM
you probably liked enerprise's
3/21/2006 2:24:24 PM
I liked the theme song too
3/21/2006 2:34:32 PM
I dislike the opening song. The ENTIRE opening looks like a bad western show. I remember passing the intro to the show several times when flicking channels not stopping cause I have no interest in watching a western.
3/21/2006 2:55:03 PM
it is a western
3/21/2006 2:57:39 PM
durrrrrr
3/21/2006 4:43:32 PM
I like the 'western' aspect of the show. The slide guitar (I think that' what the normally use) lends itself well. it's just the lyrics of the theme song that are a bit cheezed to me. I mean come on......' they can't take the sky from me............. do do do do do do.............'
3/22/2006 10:09:30 AM
they could have made it a space western without being so blatant
3/22/2006 3:26:29 PM
youre complaining about them being blatant about the intended genre?

I enjoyed the western elements, kinda missed it in serenity but I guess I understand. It is awesome in the Serenity opening credits/big damn landing scene how the music starts with the single cello then goes into the kinda westerny music as it hits atmo.
3/22/2006 6:02:35 PM
Serenity was good just by itself[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 6:33 PM. Reason : i actually liked how they seperated it]
3/22/2006 6:33:27 PM
bttt
4/2/2006 5:27:38 PM
I enjoy the western elements, but nobody that doesnt know what the show is is going to enjoy it going into it thinking its a western type show. Just doesnt seem like they could draw in the crowd of flickers.
4/2/2006 8:56:46 PM
i dunno, the concept of a "sci-fi western" would probably be strange enough to get in the kinda audience that Firefly normally goes for...although it probably wouldn't appeal to the general population...
4/2/2006 8:57:51 PM
if Enterprise can survive, so can Firefly (with the proper advertising and time slot)
4/3/2006 9:54:05 AM
I really liked the scifi-western vibe. There are too many shows where it's all sliding doors and blinking lights, and I give a lot of cred to anyone that can come up with a somewhat different vision of the future.
4/10/2006 2:48:01 PM
4/10/2006 2:56:01 PM
I kinda like the western vibe to but it shouldnt be so forceful in the intro credits
4/10/2006 3:04:38 PM
4/12/2006 10:23:39 AM
I know an even better way as to how Firefly would have survived; by not airing it on Fox. Lack of decent advertising aside, those fuckers are pretty much the ones who killed it, just like they kill 99% of their shows.
4/12/2006 10:52:48 AM
yes Family Guy has a good quote about that
4/12/2006 12:20:35 PM
So what news? Is there going to be a sequal?
5/16/2006 11:21:49 AM
Most recent I've seen is Joss on the red carpet for Slither (3/11)
5/16/2006 1:39:33 PM
damn it[Edited on May 16, 2006 at 8:14 PM. Reason : someone start a fund raiser or something]
5/16/2006 8:14:02 PM
I actually had high hopes for the campaign that was trying to set up a subscription or itunes like service for season 2, where each person would just pay $3 or whatever to download the new episode
5/16/2006 10:45:09 PM
CW announced their schedule, no news of a Firefly return, however there's no mention of any new shows...maybe its coming later?
5/18/2006 12:51:46 PM
CW is the combination of two networks, automatically not much room for new shows. Plus they did announce a couple of new ones, although Im not sure what they are. But if Firefly was coming back to television, youd know about it already.
5/18/2006 1:54:43 PM
Typically even a network with a strong schedule has about 10 pilots each fall. It's also a combination of two smaller networks that had about 4-6 hours less per week than the other networks and they axed quite a few shows. I would say its still a longshot but I think saying we would know already is a going a bit far as few of the networks have annouced many of their pilots.
5/18/2006 3:36:27 PM
it's never coming back to televisionand yes you would know because the internet would be on fire with the news if joss so much as walked out of a CW office buildingand the sequel is looking unlikely (per http://video.scifi.com/v/?linkid=21988)
5/19/2006 2:02:52 PM
well, at least they're going to do more comics not my preferred medium, but some more of the story will be told
5/19/2006 2:32:23 PM
I watched something on one of the DVD's about the set of the show.I just couldn't imagine them building a whole another one. It wouldn't be the same. And from what I have seen of what kind of person Joss is, he wouldn't take anything less than perfect.Man I hate that I start liking shows that are already canceled and gone for good. It happened with Family Guy, Freaks and Geeks, Firefly, and The Office BBC.Well of course Family Guy came back. .[Edited on May 19, 2006 at 2:33 PM. Reason : Edit this!]

5/19/2006 3:15:07 PM
just saying fans of his monitor him very very closelyif he were working on firefly, the internet would have known about it a long time ago^^yeah those of us that fucking cared about those shows and were heartbroken to see them cancelled because of bad ratings hate it too[Edited on May 19, 2006 at 3:35 PM. Back to something said earlier, I dig the western theme as well as the theme song.It was the only thing on my mp3 player for a couple weeks.
