helo's seem off somehow... just a bit though.... planes are a bit better...
6/12/2005 6:27:13 PM
planes are fine. The lock-on ability that I feared would ruin the game play is not difficult to evade at all.The helos need more lift honestly. Although you'll get used to them. I just don't think they are as nimble as the DC Apache that everyone is used to.
6/12/2005 9:39:11 PM
so why is this game not running for me
6/12/2005 9:40:35 PM
as big as the level is I almost wish they wouldve upped the player limit to 128, though the lag would be attrocious
6/12/2005 9:59:41 PM
^^ what video card do you have? If you have a geforce 4, like me, you cant run it.
6/13/2005 1:54:23 AM
damnit
6/13/2005 2:15:24 AM
OK, wow. I am tremendously impressed with the demo. This game almost makes up for my sheer disappointment with Tribes: Vengeance. Sadly, I am having a terribly difficult time learning how to fly the helicopters and fighters, though... Anyone have any tips? I've been going into empty servers and messing around with all of the controls, but not having a lot of luck so far.
6/13/2005 2:17:02 AM
omg...totally awesome, though when it optimized for my computer, it turned down the graphics pretty hardcore. Time to get a new card

6/13/2005 9:12:42 AM
Axelay:Are you using a joystick? If not, then you need to use one to control the planes and helos.its the only way to go.
6/13/2005 10:51:43 AM
^ is there native support or do you have to map the controls?
6/13/2005 10:53:25 AM
mouse and keyboard rnt good to fly? i was awesome in BFV with the helos and planes with no joystick.
6/13/2005 10:54:10 AM
6/13/2005 1:44:47 PM
you need a 4-axis joystickelevator, airleron, rudder and throttlesame deal with the helos.... you need the twisty handled sticks. You can fly with the keyboard, but you'll die alot easier.
6/13/2005 3:23:02 PM
Hmmm... no, the last PC joystick I used was only 2-axis. I reckon I'm gonna need a new joystick, then. Driving tanks is fun as hell, but still not as enjoyable as air-to-ground support.
6/13/2005 6:45:25 PM
see im more of a grounds man. solo op missions, sniping, small group sneak attacks.too bad i cant play this game. we could make some pretty decent teams with everyones iar/tank/ground preference [Edited on June 13, 2005 at 7:08 PM. Reason : ]

Anybody know how to call in artillery?
6/13/2005 9:12:52 PM

I ve been playing on Black Hats all night.First time today I used teh Squad thing. It was cool. I never was a leader but much fun![Edited on June 13, 2005 at 11:53 PM. Reason : 66.36.229235]

I broke down and bought a joystick at Wal-Mart for only $20. It's a shockingly good stick (Saitek ST290 Pro), I have to admit. I have definitely improved with my flying, but I still have a LONG way to go to be the holy terror I was in T2.After thoroughly putting the beta through its paces, I have a few questions and comments.1. How do you call in an artillery strike?2. Can tactical items such as artillery and radar only be destroyed by C4?3. The USMC sniper rifle truly sucks out loud. I've had a fair share of kills with it, but I've also seen some highly unusual behavior from it as well. It seems almost like if you shoot someone in the head, they die outright. But if you hit them anywhere else, you might have to shoot them 4-5 times. What the hell?4. What's the UAV, and how does it work?5. Do antivehicle mines chain? (i.e. placing them in clusters for maximum effect) I was astonished to see a tank roll right over one of my mines and completely miss it, and this made me wonder if I should plant them in groups at choke points.6. I need some very specific helicopter piloting tips. I can fly decently, but I'm not yet able to really have the finesse that I see some other players using. I need to really figure out how to better manage power and see how that affects maneuverability in tight turns.
6/14/2005 4:33:26 AM
RE:1. Only squad leaders can request artillery strike, it will be up to the commander to decide if he wants to.2. Yes3. Its tricky, but its good that way, not AWP-style.4. UAV reveals enemy location in a limited area to your entire team5. 1 anti-vehicle mine will kill any vehicle in the game6. Practice.
6/14/2005 5:03:08 AM
I really like the new way helo's work, and all the vehicles seem to run much smoother. The HUD is nice in the air vehicles, too. I also really like the very tall locations you can find to snipe from-- the top of oil rigs, etc. Thats great! I went hauling up one huuuge ladder and found an enemy sniping (laying down). Popped him in the back, took his spot, got a 20 kill run before I accidentally rolled off

6/14/2005 10:05:16 AM
i hated BF:V helos, they were nothing like DC helos.
6/14/2005 12:01:27 PM
The game looks pretty with everything turned up max
6/14/2005 12:22:45 PM
How do I run in 1280x1024 Currently you can only do this by changing the shortcut command line to the following: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024
6/14/2005 12:35:07 PM
I REALLY want to play this game but when I tried to open the game the screen goes black and then back to desktop, what gives.
6/14/2005 6:30:45 PM
vid card
6/14/2005 6:31:21 PM
well damn that blows hard. damn laptop
6/14/2005 6:37:40 PM
^same thing happened to me not sure if i should get a new video card or not
6/14/2005 7:33:05 PM
OK, I'm still learning quite a bit. I had no idea I could be so entertained by a one-map demo, but this game has a LOT of depth. My helicopter piloting has gotten significantly better, but I still need to learn how to "stay on station" with a good gunner and just hammer away at targets. Sniping is extremely frustrating, though, since there are no visible hits to indicate how you should correct your aim at distances. I know you get the red X thing when you do score a hit, but I need to be able to see where the round makes contact. Battlefield sniper rifles aren't 100% "click contact," are they? Meaning like you don't have to lead? I'd be highly surprised if this is the case.
6/14/2005 7:36:24 PM
anyone want to sell me a good video card?[Edited on June 14, 2005 at 7:52 PM. Reason : g]
6/14/2005 7:52:48 PM
yeah you have to lead.... some of it is that it's a demo only.... other bit is that it's the lowest end sniper rifle, no global unlocks yet....i find my sight to be too thick, but that's just my low end proc mostly.....
6/14/2005 9:14:38 PM
sometimes my gun turns to single shot and then back to auto. What am I doing? and what button is this?
6/14/2005 9:19:46 PM
sniping is weirddo they actualy model the bullet losing altitude given distance? I could understand lateral movement and leading a target, but if the guy is just sitting there I should be able to hit him...
6/14/2005 9:51:46 PM
bullet drop is probably server dependent...you have different firing modes for your gun, 3 round, auto, and single shot, some guns have all 3 some have 2, some only have 1 of them... just reselect your weapon to change firing mode.... there probably is a button for it somewhere but i dunno where it is....
6/14/2005 9:54:49 PM
Just a quick question, the allies assult gun it's only single shot or 3, right? No full auto.
6/14/2005 10:50:51 PM
bullet drop isnt server dependent -- its built into the physics engine this time.
6/14/2005 11:14:42 PM
OK, after spending a long time sniping this evening, I am completely mixed up about how it's supposed to work. I've used both the M24 and the Dragunov and have had some very mixed results with both. I climbed up on the oil derrick in the center of the map and shot round after round trying to figure out how lead shots and drop work. At a minimum distance of about 40 yards, it took me 4 shots to put one round through a guy's head on a nearby rooftop (which I was shooting down onto). I was finally close enough that I could clearly see where the rounds were landing, and they were WAY OFF. I couldn't believe it. I was 100% perfectly still, prone, and the guy had no idea where I was, so I took a long time with each shot as I was thinking that the more "still" you are, the more accurate the shot would be. Every single one was sighted dead on at his head, and one of them even missed down below his feet. Something is seriously amiss here...
6/14/2005 11:22:19 PM
Oh yeah, and to switch cyclic rates on your weapon, just double-click on it in the weapon selection menu. You'll see an indicator beside the magazine count which should say something like "S" or "A" depending upon which weapon you're using.
6/14/2005 11:24:57 PM
in americas army you have to sight your weapon i know i always have to aim up and to the left slightly. maybe its like that
6/14/2005 11:44:25 PM
yeah I'm definitely confused on the snipingit's not just simple point and click
