11/22/2005 12:59:27 PM
well, just today I was about to recommend Progress for a new client b/c they're cheap, but I would hate for a first impression to be signing up for an account, and not getting the account created for 2 more weeks.....does anyone else besides gargs recommend http://tqhosting.com?
11/22/2005 1:32:05 PM
^ if you're on the fence, I'll be glad to give you a 1 week free trial. We have several happy tww accounts, which doesn't give them much reason to check this thread [Edited on November 23, 2005 at 1:31 PM. Reason : asdf]
11/23/2005 1:30:59 PM
I can vouch for http://tqhosting.com. I've been using them for several months now with no complaints whatsoever.
11/23/2005 8:31:51 PM
I'll also vouch for http://tqhosting.com. I've been amazed by the ease of the process and I haven't had any trouble thus far with my account (*knock on wood*).
11/24/2005 12:02:39 PM
^ whats their tww/student pricing?
11/24/2005 12:14:44 PM
http://tqhosting.com/ncsu.phpIt's a little more expensive, I think, but a lot more reliable.
11/24/2005 12:50:03 PM
the server reliability with Progress hasn't been too bad. It's more so having reliable customer support - is that good with tqhosting?
11/24/2005 1:03:32 PM
I haven't been with them too long, so I'm not sure...
11/24/2005 3:19:40 PM
Anyone else getting this error while trying to send emails:
11/29/2005 2:17:15 PM
I tried creating a backup last night and ftp it to my new host, says login failed when I know it works. then tried a download of the backup, got to 500+ megs and then I try to open it and it says it is corrupt.
11/29/2005 3:29:56 PM
No one else has this problem sending mail to ncsu.edu accounts using Squirrelmail?
12/1/2005 9:14:57 AM

12/1/2005 2:12:51 PM

Sue that bitch.
12/15/2005 12:14:40 AM
i'm trying to cancel my account and have my domains transferred before my money is dueday 2 of no response what happened? progress used to be great...
12/15/2005 1:40:09 AM
I got an email a week or so ago saying they renewed my account with the CC I paid with last time. So I never checked into it because to be honest I never really used this account all year. When hassel dumped all of us, I signed up with progress and registered a domain thinking I would try it out then switch for good if everything was ok.I had asked for my other domain to be transfered from net pro though thinking I would have an easier time dealing with progress. So now they auto billed me for my account, but the only domain they have registered on modern bill is the newer one. They DIDN'T renew my domain however so now its expired. My old domain was transfered to them but they have no record of it either. My old domain has all my old info on it as well, old email (ncsu address), address, and phone number and its locked so I can't transfer it!Opened a ticket and what do you know.... Crickets are chirping..... So right now I'm pretty much screwed.
12/15/2005 2:04:06 AM
btw - i just signed up with 1and1 with a new client and they've been great so far. I got personal support during the sign-up process and the servers seem to be running great. They have a very nice control panel, better than CPanel or Ensim from what I've seen so far. And FTPing to the server is extremely fast - I always thought it was my connection or Dreamweaver or something when it would take forever to connect to and send files to the Progress server, but with 1&1 the connection and file transfers happen immediately.
12/15/2005 2:19:36 AM
So what is the proceedure if we can not get a hold of Progress to transfer our domains? Is there a way to override them?
12/15/2005 10:40:22 AM
well, unless he's a really shitty service provider you should be able to modify dns records of your domain and unlock the domain registration so that some other hosting provider could take it up.
12/15/2005 10:42:15 AM
Whatever happened to Wolfmarsh?
12/15/2005 11:05:17 AM
12/15/2005 12:14:16 PM
unfortunately it looks like progress-systems is holding a lot of domains hostage. the domains are locked so they can't be transferred to another registrar, but they don't allow users to make domain modifications, like point them to new dns servers. has anyone tried to call wolfmarsh?
12/15/2005 12:24:52 PM
this is the major reason I keep all of my domains with godaddy. I can change nameservers or other settings whenever I want to whatever I want.
