On Tahj Boyd edging out Gio for the POY
11/29/2012 11:11:52 AM
To be fair, Gio should have won. Easily most important to his team this year. Praying he leaves...
11/29/2012 11:27:08 AM
Gio is the best player in the league IMO and deserved to win, but Boyd was close and played on a superior team and these awards only go to players on good teams. Hope both go pro. Gio would be an idiot to not declare and Boyd would be an idiot to declare.

^ wait, I didn't realize UNC hired Nick Saban as coach last year instead of Larry "soul glo" Fedora from Southern Miss.
12/2/2012 6:37:25 PM
^^ that has to be a quote taken out of context from basketball
12/2/2012 6:46:48 PM
^ it seems like it. but it's really from their thread about us hiring doeren. they're convinced morris, dykes, leach, franklin, and more turned us down. and lol at the clock ticking on yow. tob was fired sunday and doeren was hired saturday. it was a pretty quick search...definitely not drawn out and very public. Seems Fedora is interviewing at Tenn. Let's see some goods.
12/4/2012 11:17:47 AM
If UNC loses Fedora, they should hire TOB as the ultimate troll move towards NC State. He would run a clean program, and as long as they put recruiters around him, he may do well.[Edited on December 4, 2012 at 11:35 AM. Reason : ]
12/4/2012 11:35:21 AM
^And he would bench his best RB too

Fantastic. This is why I can never get mad at UNC anymore. They bring me so much warmth and joy when I see them implode.[Edited on December 4, 2012 at 11:56 AM. Reason : ]

Can he just say yes to the Tennessee job, but still not quit UNC until ^ deadline? Is it against his contract to start recruiting for Tennessee while still technically employed by UNC? If UNC doesn't like Fedora starting his Tennessee duties while still employed at UNC, then UNC can either (1) suck it, (2) fired him and pay Fedora the buyout $ they would owe him, or (3) suck it some more.[Edited on December 4, 2012 at 12:00 PM. It would be great if Fedora left UNC. Keep their program in straight chaotic mode for another year. If he stays, UNC is going to become a pain in the ass program to play. High powered offense with likely very solid recruiting, probably a steady 8-9 win program in the expanded ACC assuming no one else leaves.
12/4/2012 11:59:06 AM
Why's everyone harping on the buyout? Doesn't sound like a huge number in the big scheme of things.^ I wouldn't be so sure about that. Awful defense and went 8-4 in a historically weak ACC and they needed Gio to do that.[Edited on December 4, 2012 at 12:01 PM. Reason : ...]

I'm sure that Tenn can handle the bill w/e it is.

^ I'm still not that impressed. They played an incredibly weak schedule (no FSU, no Clemson, comically bad Coastal division) and only squeezed out 8 wins... and they needed an All American to pull that off. They ramped up the offense but the defense took just as big of a turn in the opposite direction, so that's a wash overall. I bet Withers would've managed the same record with this schedule.Let's see how they manage next year with Gio out of the picture, and hopefully a decent schedule.
12/4/2012 12:50:00 PM
that would be hilarious if he took the Tennessee job today, but didn't tell UNC until 1/14/2013 so that the last month+ of his tenure would involve zero recruiting
12/4/2012 12:50:48 PM
Would be funny, but I doubt UT would go for that.

I don't blame his family. Living in Carboro would suck.
12/4/2012 12:59:11 PM
That bs that rflong posted is also true about TOB, except we played fsu, clem, and tenn. Fedora could just as easily had 3 more losses. He won 50% of his close games. I want Fedora to go not because he is a phenomenal coach but because they are unlikely to find someone better.

I would be ecstatic if he left. the pickins are thin right now and I don't see them getting anyone that would be a step up, if not even equal. plus my gf is a Chapel Hill grad so I could have some fun with that
