I didn't realize how well Harrison handles interviews.

Harrison is incredible at interviews.

I really hope we keep him around. He's in love with the organization, he's got an amazing attitude (not being a career AHL player makes him grateful), and he said he feels like there's something special happening here and he hopes to be a part of it.

I have a man crush on Jay.

If you think that Marc Crawford is an upgrade over MO, you need to follow a different sport. Serious.

Cup or not, all you need to know about Marc Crawford is that he tried really hard to make Dan Cloutier work.

Every time I hear Cloutier I think of Dave Coulier (sp?) from Full House... which seems about right.

I'm not familiar with offsides (plural). I'm pretty good on offsides (singular).

You did this tired routine about three pages ago, remember?

nope. btw the press release, skinner sounded less awesome than he was.

they needed to emphasize that he played ona line with tuomo ruutu, who spends 50% of his time over committing to checks, 40% falling on his ass, and 10% doing offense things.

How common is it for hockey teams to get new jerseys? Any chance we get a new one, or a new alternate, for next year? I'm still surprised they haven't created one with "CANES" across the front yet.

It's not common unless there's public outcry about hating the current one (see the short life of the Slug jerseys). I can't ever see our main two changing drastically, or the current third becoming a main jersey (like Philly early last decade with the black or Atlanta with the blueberry yogurt jersey), but we might get a different third a few years down the road.

And the Ducks, Stars, Coyotes, Predators, Blue Jackets, Canucks, Capitals, Kings.... have all changed recently

Even the Canes have had some minor changes in the jerseys.... But like vinyl said, I don't really see us stemming away from what we have too much

Interesting article in ESPN mag about Corsi Stats if anyone wants to search that.

all the real recent changes were results of the transition to the EDGE uniform system. everyone had some minor tweak, unless you were like Original 6

which EDGE flopped, because the players hated it, and reebok snuck in EDGE 2.0, which is basically slimmer cuts of the old material, with the new stuff as gusseting.

Sure, there are changes every 6-10 years for most teams, but compared to basketball or soccer teams that change something on the uniform every year, hockey's pretty static.

The only changes I can think of to the Canes' main uniforms are the number font/font trim changes after Greensboro and the waist flags getting slightly larger when the league mandated THC jerseys for all the teams. The piping that got added to the Edge jersey was also essentially league-mandated to highlight the new cut; I think they were being forced to change something and that was the smallest change they could get away with.

correct on the piping.

and FWIW, there were other black concepts drawn up coming out of the lockout that were seriously considered. one was a "Carolina" word mark, one was a "Canes" word mark... iirc... one was script, one was like the colorado "COLORADO"

i think the main reason we got what we did is that they've had crest size gale flag patches made up since 2003

there were some ugly ass practice jerseys with those crests made during the lockout
