why would Zo and CJL come back after just winning a national championship?

jefferson scored 10 because he fouled out in like 10 minutes. most of those fouls were on cj. that's the one thing he does well that we don't really have elsewhere. drawing fouls.

as for the 3s, wood should be taking on avg a couple more a game but thats less leslie's fault and more that we just don't have a consistent shooter besides wood. purvis has stepped up a bit but he can really only take the wide open 3 that is a result of other players' offense. warren shoots a good % but doesnt take many. and his misses are way off the target, so i'm not sure how well he'd do if he increased volume

Watch other teams play. Especially teams with good shooters. Plumlee, withey and Zeller are always looking to kick it out for the open 3. Even Len does that and he doesn't even have a prolific shooter. Its basic basketball. Inside-outside and we don't do it. I don't even know why I have to post about it. Our half court offense is atrocious. We can dominate most teams but will never be able to adjust to dominate good defensive teams. That is the most frustrating thing because we have more offensive talent than any team besides indiana and duke.

This would not be an issue if Leslie knew how to take a charge, box out or do something that made him a consistent factor on the other end. Even in the Wake game, we were giving up layup after layup when we should have been up 30.

It feels like I'm the only one who watches the game with a full perspective. Everyone else seems to just be watching for dunks and then analyzing the stats.

CJ is a great offensive talent but anyone who thinks he works hard on defense is lying. Giving up a tip-in is just as harmful as dunking over someone in the halfcourt is helpful. I wish CJ could understand that. How many points does Amile average? 10 points is a big deal. Games are not won on isos and dunks. Games are won on the glass, withe defensive intensity and fluid offensive execution.

i'm not saying that we might have had more of a shot at oriakhi if leslie left last year, but that certainly wasn't a guarantee. and you used that as justification as to why our program would have been better if leslie left. and that's ridiculous.

that's kind of how things work, though. roster spots are a finite resource. and as we've found out recently, STARTING spots are even more coveted.

ryan harrow transferring was an amazing thing for this program. if he had stayed here he'd probably be a fine point guard this year and next (not good enough for UK but compare him to trash like jontel evans) but his transferring let Zo thrive playing the 1 and also freed up the roster spots for Purvis and Lewis.

Zo being projected to go pro is why we got Barber. That's just how things work. We'll probably land a graduate transfer this year now that Randle isn't coming.

We have no idea is Leslie leaving would have led to his commitment. And we don't know if he committed if we'd be any better this season with him. Just looking at the stats, Leslie had a better season.

We spread the ball around a ton, not everyone can get Eric Green numbers on a team like ours

I liked this quote:

Quote :
"For the most part, Gottfried has used positive reinforcement with Leslie but after the 76-65 loss at UNC on Feb. 23, Gottfried challenged Leslie publicly.

...

Sixty percent of his blocks (14 of 23) and 47 percent (8 of 17) of his steals have come in the six of the seven games since the UNC loss."

It has nothing to do with his dunks. Offensively, he is literally the only player on our team to take it to the hole and not settle for long range jumpers. Since our entire team is playing like shit defensively, its pretty unfair to single him out.

But SURE, CJ IS AWESOME BECAUSE HE TOMAHAWKS

Win or lose here, major kudos to Calvin for showing up when we needed him to. It sucks the rest of our team (except howell) couldn't have fallen in behind him to bolster our score.

Thanks for the memories CJ Leslie. Ill always remember you kicking the ball around in the lane, traveling while trying to split triple teams, and finally putting team first when staring at the Temple guard and not fouling.

Negative, I want him gone. Anyone remember Ricky Davis on the Cleveland Cavs? Yeah, CJ is like him. Immensely talented but absolutely kills team spirit.
