^ it's just like Risk if you've ever played it. You get a card at the end of your turn as long as you've conquered at least one territory that turn. Once you get 3 cards that either match or are all different you can cash in for more troops. The number of troops you get goes up each time someone cashes their cards in. So a good ways into the game thats why someone will randomly get 70 extra troops. Also if you defeat a color completely you get their cards. Read the rules for Risk online and you can find out more vital info[Edited on October 28, 2008 at 2:07 AM. Reason : pg 59]

A little old, but i got PDAnet (tethering app) today. sets up in 20seconds (just make an ad hoc wifi network and connect the iphone to it) and its rolling. works like a champ
10/29/2008 7:46:19 PM
any one else having apps crash like crazy? Its mostly on safari, as that's what I use the most. But google earth keeps crashing too.
10/29/2008 7:47:07 PM
^^i got it too..keeps working for 10-15 seconds for me then stopping. i've installed Insomnia just to be sure it's not the wifi going off so I'm not sure what is going on
10/29/2008 7:49:25 PM
^do you have the latest version, 1.33? i saw in the release notes that the built in insomnia stuff was updated/fixed. Worked fine for me for about 5min and then i quit it. I'm on a 1GB data quota here.
10/29/2008 7:56:54 PM
i'll update and try it again although i think saw that mentioned in the notes before i installed it. couldn't hurt to reinstall though[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 8:00 PM. Reason : unlimited here]

that ^^^ is more than MS ever did by bundling windows media player and internet explorer - they should catch a lot of heat

^^ it's been postulated (because Apple never defined this anywhere) that Apple is not allowing competition with the iPhone's "Core Applications", or more specifically, the 4 apps that are permanently in the "Dock" - Safari (no web browsers), iPod (no music players, podcasters, etc), Mail (they even rejected an application that only served Gmail), and Phone (duh). I say - if they don't want to allow competition with these services, that's their right. It's a bad move on their part, because competition will certainly force all the applications to be better, but it's still their right. The main problem is that Apple has yet to state or define anywhere the criteria for accepting or rejecting applications.

I've been in Orlando this past week presenting in a conference, and netshare had been a God send. First time I have really used it and its made a huge impact. My hotel connection was awful. Well just have to see if at and t bitches.

When you restore an ipod touch/iphone from itunes does it restore everything? Like my email settings? Any files i have on it? etc?
11/3/2008 5:38:44 PM
If you've done a backup (and it didn't get corrupted ) it will restore things like pictures, email settings, high scores for games, bookmarks, contacts, things like that. I don't know about files stored. That might depend on how you got the files there. If you jailbroke it and used SSH, then no, but if you used something like that airshare program, then that might be something that itunes would back up for you, but I doubt it.]
11/3/2008 6:23:01 PM
Alright it did restore my files. I was worried about my Stanza books. The only thing it didn't do is remember what music i had on it. But that was expected because i manually put music on it.
11/3/2008 6:25:34 PM
is there an app that will compare prices and find reviews for products that you type or input the UPC?i noticed it for google apps. i like it.

my phone drops 1 in every 4 calls.. getting pretty oldon an unrelated topic, the "mouse/trackpad" on the new macbook's totally blows
11/5/2008 9:37:53 PM
okay, my iphone has been getting slower and slower... i think it's because all the cydia apps i've installed... it will also force quit apps quite frequently, i assume it's doing this because it's running out of RAManyone else had such a huge problem with this? i think i'll just reflash with stock firmware and then repwn from scratch....
11/5/2008 9:43:28 PM
it's been pretty well established that installing a lot of apps significantly decreases the overall performance
11/5/2008 9:48:26 PM
^^I've had a huge problem with it. I can't post on tdub without it crashing lately.. Guess I need to uninstall some crap
11/5/2008 10:10:13 PM
i don't have a problem with apps crashing so much as just the general responsiveness has decreased noticably
11/5/2008 11:36:12 PM
So my old phone broke down last night, and I went out and got a new iPhone. If I have to, I'll read through all 59 pages of this thread, but I'd rather get the abridged version. Can someone give me a brief summary of apps I need to D/L, and things I need to configure to make life with the iPhone easier?

11/6/2008 9:47:56 AM
pda.net
11/6/2008 9:48:53 AM
Cool, that requires the phone to be jailbroken i guess. What are the risks/disadvantages to a jailbreaking the phone, other than the obvious legal shit and possibility of having a $300 brick.
11/6/2008 10:07:05 AM
there are no risks or disadvantages and you aren't going to end up with a brick as long as you unjailbreak it before you do any updates from apple. they aren't sending them through the air or anything so there really isn't anything to worry about as far as i am aware.[Edited on November 6, 2008 at 10:13 AM. Reason : and i dont think there is any real legal s hit]
11/6/2008 10:12:46 AM
you're not gonna brick your phone if you use quickpwn, it's pretty much idiot proofas far as legal issues go... it's your phone. you paid for it. yes, apple owns the IP rights to the code, but fuck that.

What's wrong with it is it's a 1st gen iPhone and no respectable person would be caught dead with one of those. /1st gen user. But, yeah it's upside down.
