I would like to note my skinny pants aren't skinny legged, they're boot cut... but it took me forever to lose the weight to fit back into them I can barely stand actual skinny leg jeans ... my thighs are so big I look awkward in them.
7/14/2010 11:56:07 AM
1) even if a person can fit into "skinny" jeans, doesn't mean that they should wear them!2) i take skinny jeans to mean the jeans that you can wear when you're at your lightest the goal jeans if you will my sister is currently in possession of my skinny jeans. i will die of excitement when the day comes that i can fit into those again. i will say, with my current financial situation, i am not looking forward to jeans weather.... i'm sure most of them don't fit at this point and the idea of having to buy more jeans is not fun

but seriously, I hired a personal trainer I meet with 2x/weekI lift again 1-2x on my ownI try to run 10mi/weeki gave up soft drinkscut down on fast food about 90%make a lot of my own meals now, grilled chicken, fruits and vegetablesdownloaded a calorie counter app on my phone and watch everything i eat, try to keep it around 2k cals/day although im thinking of stepping up to gain 5-10lbs of muscle, ill need to do some major diet switchups.nothing too drastic, i never starved myself or anything crazy, but it did take 1 1/2 years. I now really like the gym and working out though, im happy for that.and i gotta give credit to my trainer no way i'd ever get this way on my own. He's a great motivator.

^^How are you doing?
7/14/2010 1:31:21 PM
7/14/2010 1:32:52 PM
Gaining weight, actually. In a bad way. I've been sidelined with the hamstring injury for the past 4 months, and I was stagnant on almost all exercise. That was combined with a stressful past few months where I've been reorganizing my life in preparation for going back to college and one of my cats passing after a long battle with cancer.Starting in August I should have a lot more free time, and the injury has healed to the point in which I can do basic jogging and kicking around a soccer ball.
7/14/2010 1:35:16 PM
God, I've told you this before and I'll tell you again. You should really clean up your diet. Since you're injured, this is important now than ever.
7/14/2010 1:54:19 PM
And you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air!
7/14/2010 1:55:58 PM
^I wish! That would probably save me a lot of money on rent.^^ You're absolutely right. My eventual goal is to get groceries entirely out of the first section of the supermarket. That is, the section that contains nothing but the fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains. However, that isn't a possibility right now due to cash concerns, primarily. I need to keep my grocery bill under $40/week, which I'm barely hitting. The most I can do right now is transition away from soft drinks and snacks, which are really the only wholly bad part of my diet. Even then, I only average about one soft drink per day.
7/14/2010 2:00:17 PM
I had about a two month period where my calf was so fucked up I could barely jog. Yet I maintained the same weight and muscle composition because I made adjustments. I altered my diet where I was taking in less calories (didn't count my calories, I just ate less food). And I still did cardio, just cardio that didn't put strain on my lower body. I did a lot of stationary bike at a low resistance level and I kayaked for about 4 hours once every two weeks. For someone who is pretty hard on everyone else in this thread, God seems to not have a lot of discipline.[Edited on July 14, 2010 at 2:03 PM. drink water completely! I swear by that! Nothing, not even your one pop a day, not even a diet one especially when you are having trouble with the food monies!!!!
7/14/2010 2:13:04 PM
hahaha, you called soda "pop"
7/14/2010 2:35:33 PM

Except don't get those steamfresh veggies. They taste like shit coming out of the microwave.
7/14/2010 2:45:21 PM
I eat those every night for dinner!
7/14/2010 2:46:02 PM

7/14/2010 2:53:21 PM
Those steamfresh veggies are good, wtf you talking about. However, I exclusively use frozen vegtables and a rack that I put the veggies on over boiling water to steam them.I also agree with punchmonk, just completely cut out soda. No exceptions. Drink water where you would drink soda instead. It might suck for awhile but you'll get through the desire to have soda and be content with water or juice.

What the fuck is a "kg"?Speak English.
7/14/2010 3:31:18 PM
7/14/2010 3:35:59 PM
And squash/zucchini are super cheap too and there are a billion ways to fix them, as I've been learning lately because my co-worker uses me to offload her surplus. Also I think I got a huge box of sweet potatoes there for ~$10 at the end of April or so and am just now finishing those off (and I even gave a bunch away). I have been dying to get out there for the last 3 weeks and haven't been able to schedule-wise. I am going this weekend though no matter what![Edited on July 14, 2010 at 3:43 PM. Reason : .]

I've listed out the things I eat before. I've reached a compromise between eating cheaply, eating healthy, and not eating so healthy that I drive myself insane. I could make some minor changes, but I'm mostly comfortable with what I'm eating right now.
7/14/2010 3:46:53 PM
Sweet potato might possibly be my favorite healthy food.
7/14/2010 3:50:48 PM
7/14/2010 3:55:33 PM
I'm not sure what you're getting at.I eat non-preserved foods for about 75-80% of my diet.I'm well aware of any dietary changes I could make, and how to make them, and the effect they would have on my diet and my wallet.I don't really see what we're discussing here, unless everyone is just planning on dogpiling on me until I decide to throw my hands up in the air and stop purchasing a fridge pack of ginger ale every two weeks.[Edited on July 14, 2010 at 4:01 PM. ^I usually load up on the frozen bags of BSCB when they're on sale. That generally lasts until they next time they're on sale I also grab ground beef (or turkey) and pork tenderloins when they're on sale. Tonight I'm enjoying some lobster tails that were on sale at the store ($3/ea). An occasional indulgence
7/14/2010 4:14:36 PM
^^^ Your first post implied that you were hindered by your budget and weren't able to get as many fresh foods as you wanted. So we made suggestions on how you could get a good quantity of fresh foods on a budget. Then you basically just said "no." I am just confused by the way you posted what seemed like something that you wanted to change and then immediately said you didn't in fact want to change.

I concur with Sam. Farmer's market.Oh and I don't even drink juice. That can make you gain weight and screw up your natural insulin production if you substitute that for your pop consumption. Tke-teg.
7/14/2010 5:07:03 PM
Yeah i have trouble regulating my OJ intake. I'm addicted.
7/14/2010 5:29:07 PM
nothing wrong with juice if it's not like loaded up w/sugarfor OJ look for pure OJ w/no extra sugar, not made from concentrate, and then just cut it w/water.i also drink Old Orchard Healthy Balance for a lot of Apple and Cranberry Juice

7/14/2010 5:36:00 PM
^^I was just saying that a lot of people don't know that juice is what helps you to gain weight because it is the natural sugar goodness but what makes it not as good is the lack of fiber. I am a type I diabetic so I know for every 5g of fiber I can take away 1 carb from my insulin intake. That is why fruit is excellent because it has the fiber in there with the simple sugar so the balance is great for your glycemic index and insulin production/distribution unlike the juice alone.[Edited on July 14, 2010 at 6:41 PM. Reason : not to mention how harsh it is on your teeth.][Edited on July 14, 2010 at 6:41 PM. Reason : btw, I do drink juice occassionally. ]

Stein is absolutely right about meat from the FM.I shop for meat at The Teet and can always find great deals... the other week I found a pack of 2 steaks for like.. $4? They were big enough where I could cook one and use it for dinner and then lunch the next day.Good call on zucchini/squash, Skwink. Right now is a great time for crazy types of peppers and eggplant... I'm glad Bham has an awesome FM because I would be sad to leave this season behind!
