There is no such thing as an Ipad 3. Only 3rd generation Ipad...

^ What does that mean? I'm confused Here's my post from the bottom of the pagehttp://www.iphonefaq.org/archives/972325Looks like Walmart is offering the iPad 3 for $399! The announcement makes it seem like there's some confusion surrounding the offer. Anybody seen this deal in person? And would this be a good time to buy an iPad 3? Thanks!

Alright. Someone confirm my sanity or lack thereof. Is it the case that iPads with cellular capability used to have the ability to purchase ad hoc data usage directly from the device, on a non-recurring basis? Or am I just making up/misunderstanding that capability in my head? It might have just been with the first iPads or whatever, but I was under that assumption and Verizon is now telling me the only options they have are essentially monthly billing options (even with pre-pay).I can clearly see it in my mind when they were talking about this as a feature, the ad hoc data use/access. Is this another case where Verizon was like "fuck that, gouge those motherfuckers for data they don't need because we can"? Or was it never the case that you could buy a specific amount of data from the iPad for one-time use only.
12/17/2012 1:38:41 PM
verizon used to do pre-pay, buy a block of data with an expiration date for it, yes
12/17/2012 2:35:41 PM
but not anymore apparently.that's weak.
12/17/2012 3:22:04 PM
The Apple site still shows you being able to do month-to-month.
12/17/2012 5:11:29 PM
It may have changed but when I had it they billed you every month until you cancelled. After canceling you could always add it back so there was no contract. I think that would still fall under recurring billing so that may be what Verizon is talking about.
12/17/2012 6:09:25 PM
See I understood it originally to be completely a la carte. Like, OK, I need 5GB of data. And if I hit that cap, they would either pop up and sell me another ration of data, or I could decline. I swear that is how it was originally. Either way, yeah it doesn't appear to be that way any more. I guess they're saying because there's no contract it's not the same, but you have to call them to turn it on or off. It won't automatically shut off, which is what would be preferable at least as an option.
12/17/2012 6:32:49 PM
It works the way you describe on my iPad. I signed up on the iPad, and yes it will auto renew each month but you can cancel right from the iPad as well.I use it enough to just leave on the 2gb/mo. But for a while I just manually reupped each month. You click to manage your plan, add the one you want, then hit cancel plan to stop it from billing the next month.

Thanks Nacho!! I went to Walmart today and they confirmed it was the iPad 3 for $399, but that they sold out of them It must be a way to get rid of unsold 3s like you said.

Anyone know how to transfer books from ibooks on my ipad to Nook? Google search comes up with lots of answers ranging from "it can't be done" to..."this is fucking complicated".I'm sure you guys can come up with an Idiot's Guide way to do it.

Google Maps app coming soon

So is Apple allowing Google Maps in the App Store but not letting it show up in search results? I always have to follow a link to find the app. It never shows up in a search for "Google" or "Google Maps" or anything like that.Thought it might just be my Apple ID but was setting up my Mom's new iPad and ran in to the same thing.
12/26/2012 9:11:33 PM
If I just start typing goog in the search, google maps is the first option. For navigation, waze is a really good option as well.
12/26/2012 10:15:19 PM
It comes up in the search autocomplete but not in the results on my iPad or iPhone. Really bizarre.

Is it just me or does anyone else's safari get damn near unresponsive on pages with gifs, especially the keyboard?
12/27/2012 12:01:11 AM
Me too
12/27/2012 6:29:34 AM
^^^ I guess I'm not being clear. I can access through a link. I have had it on my devices since release. But I can't simply go to the App Store and find it anywhere without accessing through that link. I just found that very curious.
12/27/2012 8:04:37 AM
Is it already in your purchased tab?Nevermind, I just checked on my phone and even though it is in my purchased tab, I can still search for it on the app store, no problems. [Edited on December 27, 2012 at 4:50 PM. Reason : Mo' Factuals]
12/27/2012 4:48:59 PM
^^because google maps is an iPhone app, not a universal app so it only shows up on the iPhone side of the App Store which can be accessed at the top of the iPad App Store.
12/27/2012 8:03:22 PM
That link is for the IPHONE app. I said the iPad app is coming soon. Don't waste your time downloading the iPhone app.
12/27/2012 8:43:21 PM
It's pretty functional as an iPhone app on the iPad regardless. But, you solved the problem. I forgot that iPad only doesn't show in iPhone App Store.
12/27/2012 10:23:50 PM
Why do I see a small box with a small blue question mark instead of the picture?
2/14/2013 11:24:10 PM
^
2/18/2013 1:53:32 PM
Look dude, no one answered your question the first time around because you couldn't have been more vague if you were trying. You're certainly not going to get any help this time around by just posting a caret.
2/18/2013 6:02:13 PM
that's the ipads red X
2/18/2013 6:17:08 PM
isnt that just the 'red x' equivalent in some browsers?ie the picture is either linked wrong, or hotlinking isn't allowed from that domain[Edited on February 18, 2013 at 6:17 PM. Reason : ^]
2/18/2013 6:17:32 PM
I like how this dude's shitty question goes unanswered for 4 days, and then right after I say nobody is gonna bother helping him, y'all fuckers are tripping over yourselves to prove me wrong.
2/18/2013 7:03:10 PM
i think its the ipad's red x.Also, Nexus 7 or ipad mini?I like my ipad but I want something smaller.
2/18/2013 7:32:27 PM
^what do you plan on using it for?i've used ipad, ipad2 and nexus7, i love the big screen of any tablet (including the ipads) but i personally prefer the android interface, but again, what do you plan on using it for?
2/20/2013 12:30:56 AM
I like my iPad 3 but it is large enough that I think twice about bringing with me when I leave my house. I like that the nexus is cheap though so I won't be as worried about scratching/dropping it (just cracked my iPhone 5). And I keep hearing a mini 2 (better res) will be announced in march.[Edited on February 20, 2013 at 11:45 AM. Reason : Reading, surfing, games, movies]
2/20/2013 11:44:58 AM
pretty sure it's just the ipad's red x [Edited on February 20, 2013 at 3:01 PM. Reason : .]
2/20/2013 3:01:24 PM
i use my ipad in the house (big screen) and nexus 7 everywhere else (better in every category except size)
2/20/2013 3:47:27 PM
I played with both today and I think I prefer the iPad mini. I like the familiarity and it seems to run smoother. I think I'm going to wait until march for the chance of a mini2 or price drop.
2/20/2013 7:11:06 PM
anybody else having an issue with updates? i have a badge icon showing that i need to update some apps but when i click on updates in the app store it's blank. this is happening on my ipad and iphone.
2/21/2013 12:53:47 PM
Thanks guy! El nacho you can go suck on a wet fart.I had the mini and loved it. I traded my sister for her iPad because she wanted the mini so she could read books easier.
2/21/2013 3:53:16 PM
Yeah, it's totally my fault that you ask vague, stupid questions. Get mad! [Edited on February 21, 2013 at 6:54 PM. Reason : If anything you should thank me for baiting the other users into helping you out of spite.]
2/21/2013 6:53:42 PM
i thought it was a stupid questionbut i didnt really think it was vague at all
2/21/2013 7:03:58 PM
I should of said "A" picture. My bad...but they knew what I was talking about. Instead of being an ass you could of answered it. Personally I didn't think it was very vague, but thank you El Nacho for that because of you I got my stupid Ipad noob question answered

Hey guys, I'm in Mexico right now and when I try to make FaceTime calls, it rings a few times then tells me "FaceTime failed." Messages are also not going through. I have a good wifi connection, and on my first day here (same location, same wifi) I was able to make 2 FaceTime calls no problem. I already tried turnin the iPad on and off, toggling FaceTime and airplane mode, etc. other than this, the Internet is working 100% fine. Any ideas what could be wrong? What can I doooooo [Edited on February 23, 2013 at 11:10 AM. Reason : ...]

most likely it's the internets where you is
2/26/2013 5:19:36 PM
probably a firewall blocking the ports somewhere along the way.

^coming soon; walmart just dropped the base 16gb models.[Edited on April 5, 2013 at 5:05 PM. Reason : .]

only on the 3rd gen. Not the current models. I wouldn't expect a new iPad for at least another 6 months.
