Too busy avoiding a FY11 budget for fear of repercussions in the elections of 2010.

We see how well that worked for them.

Now they can blame the Republicans.

Wasn't this budget problem Bush's fault to begin with?

(that's what my 2nd cousin said, anyway)

"No, it's really not. The CBO was told to make it look good, so they did. A simple review of the bill shows a 182b surplus. But the dems only achieved that by moving 250b of healthcare spending out of it and into another bill. Thus, they are in the red. And that's with the rosiest of rosy pictures."

Sounds like it's up to debate to me with varying reports depending on the source.

no, it's not really up for debate. We take the CBO's numbers, we add in the obvious 250b that also goes in it, we have a deficit. simple as that

I wasn't able to find anything, except for a forum post that gave no references.

You're going to have to do better than that if you expect me to do the work for you.

let's see... in the second lmgtfy...
link 4 references it, and gives you something to google on
link 6 tells it directly.
links 9, 10 do, as well.

the second page has more links to it. Really, unless you had your head in the sand, EVERYONE knows about the "doc fix".

Quote :

If this cost is inevitable, then the health care reform didn't really cause a deficit. Rather the lack of addressing the problem for 14 years is causing the deficit...

It had to be done regardless of reform. Repeal the reform, it still gets done. Ergo, the reform isn't actually increasing the deficit...

So does Fox News officially endorsing Obama's citizenship ( ) finally make it official?

What a huge joke.

Quote :
"Sunday night’s stunning and historic announcement that Osama bin Laden was killed in a U.S. military operation boosted CNN to outperform rivals.
CNN emerged as the most-watched cable news network, peaking at 7.8 million viewers during the 11 p.m. hour when President Obama officially announced bin Laden’s death. Fox News delivered 4.8 million and MSNBC had 2.3 million. That means about 15 million tuned in to the cable news networks for the announcement, with millions more watching on the broadcast networks (whose final numbers will not be available until tomorrow) and online.
During a five-hour block of continuous coverage of the news, from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., CNN averaged 4.1 million viewers to 2.8 million for Fox News and 1.6 million for MSNBC. This marked CNN’s best performance in these hours since Election Night 2008."

haha, well, then, I'm proud to say I didn't know, lol

i mean, I'm not a fan of rap, in general, and I'm not usually gonna defend it, but the line they are bitching about is pretty weak. It's obvious he's making a biblical reference of sorts. he's not actually saying to set dubya on fire.

^ agreed! easily the stupidest fabricated controversy in years, thanks Fox News!

The disturbing thing is that their attitude on this issue is inherently racist. If Common is a "thug", then well, they probably think most black men are "thugs". The absurdity of painting Common as some sort of controversial figure is over the top - if he's a bad person, we're all bad people. What a network of racist, ill-informed pricks.

The Common thing was definitely bad, no argument.

In general it's impossible to argue that Fox News isn't more fair and balanced than MSNBC, but sometimes they are guilty of making a huge deal out of nothing when news gets slow.

Well that's the key point about the problem John Stewart has identified. What is the explanation for why they are "outraged" at this person and not others. You can tick off every possible objective criteria and every one turns up with nothing.

It's not that they don't like Common particular. They clearly aren't familiar with his career given the way the fail to accurately report on it. So what's the variable left? The explanatory value of "Fox News is racist" is so glaringly obvious you would have to willfully ignorant to not question their motivations.
